Leonardo DiCaprio on New Film "One Battle after Another"

When the first trailer dropped for Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, audiences were left puzzled about what the film was really about. But critics have already weighed in, giving the movie a stellar 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Leonardo DiCaprio, the film's star, says that's partly because the story defies easy description. Complex thing to articulate, but at the heart of it, I think the movie has a lot to do with humanity. It's a lot to do with polarization in the world that we live in, extremism on both ends. It's got incredible action sequences, weird worlds that Paul Thomas Anderson has created that may exist in our country, that may not exist in our country, revolutionaries. But at the heart of it is this man trying to get back his daughter, that his past has come back, this great reckoning from his past, his revolutionary past. And the whole movie is really this singular road trip of trying to find his daughter. You know, you are so unsuitable for my daughter. My child comes from a whole line of revolutionaries and you look so lost. What are you going to do about this baby? It's not a film where people are imposing any political beliefs on anyone else. It's satire on both ends and it's a great sort of, I don't know, it's a great film to have coming out in today's world. I think it's important.
