In today's video we are headed into the Goodwill outlet bins. And I want to thank
Squarespace for sponsoring today's video. Wow it is really empty in here today so
if you haven't been to the bins before it's all of these bins full of stuff and
they change them out all day long. It's like a treasure hunt you never know what
you're gonna find from day to day so I'm gonna challenge myself to see what I can
find what I can bring home to DIY and style in my home. Okay I know this is
tiny but this is cute and I'm sure I can find something to put in it. Oh you know
be cute maybe we can make a tiny little topiary. I grabbed a styrofoam ball and a
wooden skewer out of my stash and I also had this moss. I'm pretty positive I got
this from the Goodwill bins and I really like it because it is so natural looking.
It even has dirt and leaves and everything in it. I'm using a hot glue
gun to attach the moss and I'm just gonna keep going around my styrofoam
ball until it is completely covered. I used a Dixie Vale Van Dyke antiquing
clays to make the stick have a you know older age look. I want to embellish it a
little bit so I'm gonna use IOD apothecary labels. You get all of these
different fonts as well as cute little labels so I'm gonna spell out the
word grow using the small I think this is the smallest font option that they
have with this stamp. I'm attaching the label I just made along with this cute
little lace bow to the stick and then all I have to do is attach the stick to
the little pot that I found at the Goodwill bins that inspired this project.
Do y'all remember that $3 secretary desk I got at the Goodwill bins? Guess what
it made the cut at the new house it looks so perfect in this little area so
this is where I decided to style the topiary but I couldn't decide if I liked
it at the top or down here with a canister so let me know where you think
I should put it. And if you're wondering about the pricing everything is priced
different here these little figurines and home decor pieces are priced about a
cashier and other items like shoes and clothing have a set price but honestly
everything is so cheap that I do not even worry about the price if I like it
I'm gonna get it. Here's a little basket of Christmas items let's see what's in
here a little clay Santa I love those pine cone looks like there's some little
wooden things in here just a few different little Christmas items but
nothing special. Here is a cute little glass top I love the little scalloped
edge but I do not see the base that goes with this I think I'm just going to put
it in my cart because you never know you might come across the bottom of it
somewhere else at the Goodwill bins. Looks like we have lots of little
figurines right here
some broken pieces here's some more figurines so people will you know take
this stuff out and put it on top and try to rescue it I do that all the time.
Here's a little sheet I mean I might need this sheet for a little vignette I
love these little pieces just to put in front of something that I'm decorating
some more figurines right here but don't see any that I'm interested in. I spy an
oval frame this one is adorable I can't tell if it's wood or plastic but it
doesn't matter it's going in the cart. I love oval frames and this one was the
perfect size to put on my bookshelves I just added a sweet little picture of
baby Wren. Let's see what else is in these bins. A little wood frame, some beads, wooden
toaster. I like this little jar with the florals but it's glued to this piece
right here. What is this? Stop! Peasant art! I love this. Normally I would remove the lace but
this super hip guy at the Goodwill bins said he liked it and it was a granny
chic so what y'all think leave the lace on or take it off? They have this wood
cut out in here and I cannot figure out what this is. Do y'all know what this is?
Leave a comment below because I cannot figure it out. Here's some white
canisters. I like the shape of them but they are broken up and very very dirty
so I think I'm gonna leave them here. A little cardboard card box. Here's a
little, what are these called? I don't know the name escapes me but they are
fun to DIY and these little shelf sitters are great to have in your DIY
stash. Ooh a skeleton! I need this to style on some books I just made that
y'all have got to see. They came out so cool. I don't like the way these cheap
skulls look but it is very easy to make them look more expensive and more high
end so I'm taking a Dixie Bell chalk paint in the color Magnolia which is a
very beautiful warm white. I'm gonna cover the entire thing then I'm gonna
come back with a paper towel and just kind of not wipe it but kind of push it
down and the paper towel just gives it like a really cool natural looking
texture. If you don't know I have a VIP group and every Monday I go live in
there and create something. Well this week they wanted to play with the Dixie
Bell patina products so I had a stack of these books that were not selling so I
decided to paint them. I have used the patina products on many surfaces but
this was my first time using it on paper or leather or whatever these books
are made out of and I am obsessed. So that was the arn right there. This is the
bronze patina paint and then the third one is the copper. On all three of them I
did use both the blue and this green spray. That's my favorite when you use
the sprays together. Y'all. Y'all. I just love it so much but it was definitely
giving me Halloween vibes so when I saw this skull at the Goodwill bins I was
like okay I need him and I'm gonna style him with these amazing books. If you do

with some rain boots and a rain hat but it's all broken up. If it wasn't broken
up I would definitely begin this because it's cute and weird. This looks like a
good bin of stuff. I have an ice cream bucket right here. This is like a newer one but these are
great. You can paint them. You can put Christmas trees in them. Look they got a
bucket. I'm pretty sure they got a Christmas tree in this bin. You could
have a whole setup. I don't need any right now. I'm still dealing with all the
stuff I got so I'm gonna leave that here. I think this is a lamp right here. We got
some kind of Christmas yard art. We got an air fryer right here. A crock pot like all
your kitchen needs. Coffee pot right here. What's this? It's a lamp. Look at this basket
just sitting here. Oh y'all I think this piece is actually handmade. I love the
shape of it. What y'all think? Should I get this? There's nothing wrong with this
basket but I feel like the print doesn't really fit my style of decor so I'm
gonna tone it down a little bit. I'm gonna use fusion paint in the color
cast-iron and I also have a cup of water there because I just want to do a wash. I
don't want to completely make it black and if a little bit of that pattern
still comes through that is totally fine. So I'm just doing one quick water
down coat on here and then I'm gonna let it dry. I love the way it came out with
the black wash because you still have some of that brown basket color coming
through and I just think this looks a lot better with the style of my house. If
you have not gotten one of these inexpensive olive branch trees from
Walmart what are you waiting for? I think this might be the seven foot one but I'm
sure because I have ordered several of them so I just put it in the little pot
and I think it is absolute perfection. The main reason I rescued this is
because I absolutely loved the shape of it. Here's an old frame but I love the
shape of it and look at that rusty gold. I think I need this. I took everything
out the frame because I don't want the matting and I don't want the glass and I
could cut a piece to fit the frame but the easiest thing to do is just paint
the backer. I don't have to cut anything. It's already the right size so you can
paint it whatever color you want or I've also decoupaged the backer or you could
add fabric. The possibilities are endless but I'm using Dixie Bell chalk paint in
the color Magnolia. I want to make a sign to hang in my bathroom. I'm gonna be
using the IOD typesetting stamp. You cannot go wrong with this stamp. It's
classic. I've used it for so many different projects. Now I don't have
enough letters to make the words so you're not gonna understand what it is.
I'm just using random letters as placeholders so I know the spacing and
the size that I need. So I'm gonna take my thin mount. I'm gonna pick up the
letters and then I'm just going to ink up the ones that you know I actually
want to use and then I'm gonna go back and add in the extra letters that I need.
And look how good it came out. I absolutely love stamping. You just
naturally get this aged look. I think this is gonna look so good with that
rusty gold frame. I made this to hang over the toilet room in my bathroom and
everything just sounds fancier when you write it in French so that's what I
decided to do but I am obsessed y'all with this rusty gold frame. Now I'm gonna
be on the lookout for some or maybe we can figure out how to rust our own gold
frames. I never found the bottom for this so I'm gonna go ahead and put the lid
back up here. So not too many items today but definitely a lot more than what I've
been finding at the Goodwill bin. So I'll put a total on the screen of what I spent
on this cart of stuff. Hold on I'm scooting back. $3.50 y'all that's why I
am addicted to the Goodwill bins. You just cannot beat the prices here and it
is a little stressful because I don't know what I'm gonna find but I kind of
like that and that's what makes it a Goodwill challenge because I'm like okay
what can I find and what can I do with it. So y'all let me know what is y'all
favorite project today or favorite item that I found today. Let me know how you
like these videos because like I said I find this a little bit fun for me. Gives
me a little bit of an extra challenge and if I'm not keeping any of these
items you can find them on my website juliesdesignsandsigns.com as well as
paint, IOD, and beautiful home decor. And if you're interested in starting your
own website make sure you check out squarespace.com slash juliesdesignsandsigns
and they are giving my viewers 10% off and I will have
everything linked in the descriptions for y'all. So y'all have a great day. I
will see y'all next time for another DIY thrifting home decor video. Bye guys!
