A Very Odd Drag Race- 2025 Tesla Model 3 Performance vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 N!

Hey guys as you can tell I'm here at our abandoned airstrip which we use for drag racing and not that long ago we were here with the then current model 3 performance and we raced it against the BMW i4. Now the race was quite a surprise and you know what let's roll that race so you can see which one won. And we are off and here I go oh yeah once again we got a pretty even jump but he's gaining some This Tesla is just flying down the drag strip come on Tesla On paper and here at the drag strip the win obviously goes to the model 3 performance not only is it quicker but it's substantially cheaper Alex. As you can tell the old model 3 performance easily beat the all-electric BMW i4 but today we brought something completely different as you can tell. Of course we did Roman you know why this is so cool it's because this is the next generation this is the highland model 3 performance and I could not be more psyched. Yeah it's uh it's black Andre. Look at this now this is a car Andre this is the brand new IONIQ 5N. You know what N stands for? Slow. No N stands for some name in Korea that I can't pronounce but that doesn't matter this thing has 641 horsepower what does that have? 510 horsepower. I laugh at your model 3 performance but look at the size comparison dude that looks big and scv like and this looks nice and sleek and fast this looks big and bold that looks boring so I think we have to go drag racing Andre let's do it right now. Now this IONIQ 5N is stuffed with technology to make it you know as fun to drive as possible but it's also a serious track weapon now for instance you can push this button so let me put it in drive let me put my seat belt down so it doesn't ding and that gives you 40 extra horsepower for just a short amount of time giving you a total of 641 horsepower so there's regular mode and then I put in N-Grin mode and I've got a boost of 40 more horsepower for the next 30 seconds now over here that's where it gets more interesting you can have it both set up for track or in this case drag racing so you put it in N launch control and then you can switch from low grip to medium grip to high grip that would be for instance for a prepped drag strip I'm going to go with medium grip and then if you want to pre-condition your battery you could do it for the drag strip or you could do it for the track and as you can tell the battery temperature is pretty optimal because the conditions are pretty optimal and then I can go back here I can activate launch control well conditions are not met let's see here oh it doesn't like it in N-Grin mode so let me turn that off let me go okay here let me activate it there we go and we're active in launch control I actually like to try it both once with N-Grin off in launch control and then once when N-Grin on without launch control to see which one is faster so maybe we'll do two drag races but yeah this thing's ready to rock well Roman I set a I did a trick thanks to Max I basically navigating to a supercharger so my battery is being pre-conditioned and then if I look at my dynamics I'm in insane mode sport and heavy well dude I may not have a horsepower advantage I do have a weight and size advantage yeah I know you're taller and a little heavier than I am but we're not talking about that don't talk about the Tesla I know hey what's uh your percentage of battery charge I'm at 82.7 of juice that's perfect since there's no chargers here at the uh drag strip I'm at 83 percent how close is that this is as fair as we can make it now let's do two races this first one I'm going to use launch control and then let's do another one where I use the N-Grin button and don't do launch control well you're going to lose both times so yeah let's go all right can Max start us please he's left his referral code below so if you guys myself 40 extra horsepower and uh see what that does three two one that time I got the jump I waited a little bit is he gonna catch up to me wow it's neck and neck and I just want to show he's catching up to me he's barely passing me oh this is insane oh my god this is great wow that's fast that's over a hundred and bazillion miles an hour wow wow all right Andre 11.66 at 124.1 11.46 at 125 using the solo dl and what does your other timer say the other time it says 11.12 yeah I don't believe it I think the solo dl is probably right well if you're counting uh without rollout probably but anyway uh that was that was a Nat's hair whisker between the two of them you want to do one more yeah how about we put uh the draggy in your car I don't want the draggy just confusing people all right sitting on that's not a frunk all right uh let's talk about practicality a little bit more what's your range well when we had a charge 200 percent at the office it was showing uh 268 miles and more range 260 yeah I I get it so that's not very good but this is a performance machine but I have more range 303 miles oh yeah but Tesla always kind of overestimates so it could be a little bit less but still it's pretty good you know it's not about the range it's about how quickly you can charge it and of course yeah I have an 800 volt architecture I don't makes for very quick charging if you can find an 800 volt charger you have the old ports still I mean this is NACS okay this is NACS it's North American Charging Standard developed by Tesla well that's why this is better because I can find reliable charging almost anywhere I think we're boring our viewers let's go race again okay all right you ready to go yeah I'm pretty much set I'm staying with the same settings basically uh it's called beat Roman three two one okay good start he got ahead of me on that time because I kind of tried to sneak ahead pretty fair start I think he's got me he's definitely got me and we're going wow that's fast oh that's fast that's fast on this particular day at this particular time Andre was quicker and the car's slowing down just a little bit uh I'm at uh 123.6 at 11.64 I think it was uh sort of my slowest time dude uh 123.6 at 11.64 I think these guys mine is 11.38 at 125. speak for yourself I'm not heating up I'm I'm still going if we're talking about you know who won both based on the solos and based on the uh finish line it's got to be the Tesla all right Andre so um three different races um 11.80 11.66 and my fastest was 11.64 which is still freaking fast I mean these are numbers that you would have dreamed of when I was a kid and now here they are out of the box from the maker or from the dealer I'm hearing a lot of excuses from you but I agree with you I am for an obfuscate the fact that I only ran 11.64 uh here's some of my times 11.37 11.46 11.38 and yeah uh definitely like three tenths quicker yeah right on average um and it is still amazing I agree with you I mean just maybe six or seven years ago these times out of a passenger sedan would would not be possible yeah I think you combine the fact that that is also $13,000 cheaper maybe depending on the day uh then I gotta say the winner once again is the Tesla Model 3 performance but I'm gonna go with this is more fun well it looks more fun well I'm gonna show you why it's more fun you want to jump in with
