Archery Shootoff! We Shoot a NFAA Field Animal Round

It's like a it's like a gopher on my chest. We're rolling. I can feel it. We're currently rolling. We are at the archery range today and Ryan has never shot an animal round. So what I thought would be a good idea was to bring him out here. Today is perfect day for it other than a little bit of wind. We're going to shoot an animal round. 14 targets. Basically we're going to keep regular score. If you guys don't know how to score these things I'll try to explain it while we shoot or you can look it up. Yeah I don't know how to shoot it. We're going to be shooting from the furthest yellow every single time. There are three scoring rings on the target. We're going to be keeping score how NFAA keeps score. We're going to walk the course. Like I said it's 14 targets. We'll tally them up at the end and see who wins. It'll be a fun time. Follow along. Make sure you like this video. I can hear that wind. That's a solid excuse today. The one thing that does suck about these targets is that the the spot the actual spot isn't uh colored. So like on the darker target like that the spot should be white and a lighter target it's gonna be black. Anyways here we go. Just just out of the spot. You guys will see when we get up there. This is also my first shot of the day since I did not get to warm up. Like Travis did. Sounded good. I mean it felt pretty good but it's gonna be low. So we were both a little low. Kill shots nonetheless. If you can see barely because this thing is blown up. Can you see that? This this center ring right here this is 21 points. This next ring is 20. The rest of the animal inside this ring is 18 points from the furthest stake. Now if you miss and you shoot anywhere out here even if you hit like the legs or anything like that that's not a scoring part of the target. You would move closer to the next yellow stake and here is your scoring breakdown. So this is from the first stake 21 20 and 18. Move to the second one so your values go down every time that you miss. You keep scooting closer but for lower points. So we both got 20s on this one. I think I'm gonna play you play a little bubble game. I'm gonna lean into the wind on this one. What kind of game are you gonna play? I'm gonna camp my bow. 56 yards. Okay don't forget single pinners out there. He's got to move it. 56 yards. Got it. Again there's no there would be a white dot on this one. There isn't. So general rule of thumb center body right behind the front leg. Oh that felt so good. That felt good. A full draw in a windstorm dude. Shoot it. Let her rip chip. Oh that's good when it's soft and you don't hear it that's good. Okay I'll take your word for it because it was windy. Looks like I'm a little low. Hey but we're both still in that big circle right? Yep. So we got the same amount of same amount of points same score. All right pulling them. It's a dead elk. All right we're on target number three. 54 yards. It's a caribou. Felt pretty good. Your left and right's good but you're still low. I didn't play the bubble. My height was perfect but I'm just left. All right looks like we did it again. We are close. 20s so far. Not looking good. Got some close ones coming up though so feeling kind of confident you know. I'm happier that I'm left and right and not up and down like you because the left and right is the wind. Up and down is just because you suck. No that's because you told me to aim low. I told you to add a yard on the last one. On the last one. And you still shot low. First two you said take a yard away. You shot two different ways. What I have a feeling of is that every few targets I'm going to get different directions. You shot two different ways and you're still hitting the same exact spot. A const 36 yards on this one. I'm gonna shoot a red arrow. So am I shooting at 37 yards now you're saying? Shoot whatever you want to shoot. Yeah well I forgot my binos and my rangefinder so I'm relying on your information. Okay you know what? What do you got? What's it giving you? What's it spitting out? Uh nothing because these aren't rangefinding binoculars. Idiot. 36. 30 or for our brothers down south that's trente seis. That's pretty good. Oh wind. I think it's still good though. I think we both got the same score. Did we? Yeah I thought maybe I was in this circle right here. No you had a better shot though. Had a little bit of a better shot. I don't hear that often admitted by Travis. So I'm gonna go ahead and pull these. Got a coyote here at 26 yards. Since I had the better shot on the last one. No because we're just taking turns. We're just taking turns going first but I did want to just take that opportunity. There's the target. To remind Travis that I had a better shot on the last target. You see that you've been missing a lot of days at work. I wouldn't say I've been missing them Bob. Just shoot the damn target. Dude your shot sucks. Does it? Yeah. Why? You're almost out of the 20. Should I shoot the same one as you or the one above? Does it matter? You don't care? Shoot the one above. Oh how's it look? I think we got another 20-20. Son of a. Didn't get it. Are we both same score? Same score. 20-20 and 20 and 20. You caught a little friend on the target huh? You saved his life. Got like a gyro in his neck. No he's not a chicken. Target six. 16 yards. We're shooting grouse. We usually just shoot the heads or shoot for the heads on these ones but since we're scoring I guess we might as well go for the scoring. Come on. Jesus. Got the one let down rule right? It's a little right. So is mine. Oh we both shot 20s again. I was to the right and you were to the right but you were at least centered. I was a tad low. Moving right along we got it looks like a buck 53 yards. Felt like I was low again. There's not much wind down here but up there it looks like it's howling. I'm no expert in wind but when trees are moving I think it's a pretty good sign. Damn it I'm an inch out again. Breaking news folks. We both got 20s. It's kind of tough when there's no spots to aim at. It's not like a 3D target where you have like the muscle lines and shadows to aim at. Just a flat piece of paper. 38 yards. Got a frontal shot on a deer. Get all those people online. I'd never take a frontal shot. You shouldn't either. Well you probably don't shoot that good. You're probably not the best shot. Now where they have the spot on this thing is really stupid. So literally lined up with the shoulder. It's not even in the chest. It's on the shoulder. Oh well. It's not real. I had a bug on me. I got it. I got it you guys. Forgot to watch my bubble on that one and I think I'm left. We're building some separation boys. See how stupid that is where they have it like on literally on the shoulder instead of right here. Oh I need to score it. And a 21 for Travis. So we're shooting a fox. It's the ninth target in. 23 yards. Right when the wind picks up. Perfect. Had to wait out the wind on that one. I think it's an okay shot. Oh another one just out. It's windy. It's real windy Wendy. Holy ----. I hope I hit that thing. I almost got it. Another set of 20s huh? I'd say with that wind though it was pretty good shooting. I was all over the place. Yeah me too. My pin was like this. I'm just glad it broke while it was on the target. 11 yard rabbit. I think it might be a touch high. You hit the spot. So Travis has got a 21. He hit the spot. The ring within the ring. And I am a liner 20. Like I said high. Frustrating. Target 11. 18 yards. 18 yards. With a 20 mile an hour sustained wind. Gusts of 30. Easily. That would be about that much. Yeah I think so. Okay are you ready? I'm looking at the wind man. Sweet cheeks. Shit. My shot felt pretty good. Mine didn't. I was all over it. I think I caught like a little break in the wind. Luckily. Oh I think you might have got the 21. I know. Well I got a 20 and it looks like Bryguy got his first 21. You can officially drink a beer now. All right you're catching up. Three to go. 12 yard duck. Shoot the bottom target on the left. Where's Dorothy at? Now it's like 30 mile an hour winds. You see our arrows? We shot like this. As you can see our arrows are not straight. We're only shooting 12 yards. That's how windy it is right now. Look at these trees. Look at these trees. It's ridonculous. Absolutely ridonculous. So this is target number 13. 34 yards. We got a pheasant. This is not bow shooting weather. I hope I hit this thing. Oh I don't even think I hit it. So you're saying I got a chance to take the lead right here then? I missed it. I missed. Did you? Yeah I missed. All right. My pin was so far off that target. All right this is good news for me. You also realize that when I take the lead right now there won't be enough targets remaining for you to catch up. All right I'm shooting the bottom one. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. The arrow kicked out to the side like a solid six inches. All right Ryan did hit them. He hit them back in the in the tail feathers but he did score. He got an 18. The best I can do I think is a 17 if I hit the spot which we're gonna have to check the rules 100 percent luck if I hit the spot on this one because it is windy. I can't even hold my pin still. How's that one looking? I'm in the ring. This one? Yeah that's my that's my shot. Yeah this is your arrow. This is my first shot. This is the second one and then I think second shot I think this is a 17. This would be a 16. So I think I got a 16. I think. I don't know. I've never had to shoot twice on an animal target ever. Last target 29 yards. I'm shooting the target on the left. Felt okay but man that thing kicked out again in the wind. I need a spot. Say Ryan's in the in the ring not the spot so I need that one point but it's gonna be mostly luck. No you won. You won by one. Champion baby. I want a rematch when it's not windy. Okay you'll get it.
