Hello friends. Merhaba arkadaşlar. In this lesson, we are going to translate another
story from Aesop. The title of the story is Tilki ve Keçi. Let's translate the title first.
So tilki is the fox, ve and keçi the goat. In the first sentence, it says Bir tilki istemeden
So bir tilki, a fox çıkamıyor, was not able to get out. This a here is cannot, was not able to
was not able to get out from the kuyu. Kuyu is well in Turkish. From the well düştüğü that he fell
into içine düştüğü istemeden unwillingly we can say. So a fox was not able to get out of from
the well that he fell into unwillingly ve and umutsuzca bekliyordu. Bekliyordu was waiting.
Umut is hope. Umutsuz hopeless. Umutsuzca hopelessly we can say or we can say desperately.
So bir tilki istemeden içine düştüğü kuyudan çıkamıyor ve umutsuzca bekliyordu. A fox was not
able to get out of from the well that he fell into unwillingly and was waiting desperately.
In the next sentence, it says Du içmek için kuyuya gelen keçi onu gördü ve orada ne yapıyorsun
So the subject of the sentence is keçi, goat. But which goat? The goat. This suffix
who is, which is we can say. Which is gelen which is coming kuyuya to the well.
She's coming for what? Su içmek için. To drink water. So su içmek için kuyuya gelen keçi, the goat
which is coming to the well to drink water onu gördü. Saw him ve and orada ne yapıyorsun tilki kardeş
So and asked, sordu. Ne yapıyorsun? What are you doing? Orada der tilki kardeş. Brother fox.
Su içmek için kuyuya gelen keçi onu gördü ve orada ne yapıyorsun tilki kardeş diye sordu.
The goat which is coming to the well to drink water saw him and asked what are you doing there
brother fox. Then tilki hemen bir kurnazlık düşündü. So the fox hemen immediately right away
düşündü. Taught. Taught what? Kurnazlık. Kurnazlık means thinking something smart but bad.
In english they say cunning. So the fox immediately told of a cunning we can say.
And let's say o a cunning. And şöyle cevap verdi. Answered cevap verdi. Şöyle like this.
Büyük bir kuraklık geliyor. A big. Büyük bir. Kuru means dry. From that root we make
which is in english drought. So there is no rain. There is no water.
Geliyor is coming. Ve and susuzluktan hayvanların çoğu ölecek.
This phrase here hayvanların çoğu most of the animals. Ölecek will die of what? From what?
Susuzluk. Who is water? Susuz. Without water. Susuzluk thirst. Will die of thirst we can say.
In turkish we say from thirst. The fox immediately taught of a cunning and answered like this.
A big drought is coming and most of the animals will die of thirst. And he continued.
Var. There is. Çok. A lot of. A lot of what? Su. Water. Where? Burada. Here.
And kuraklık boyunca bitmeyecek. And it will not run out. Finish.
During kuraklık drought. So tilki hemen bir kurnazlık düşündü. The fox immediately
taught of a cunning. Ve şöyle cevap verdi. And answered like this.
A big drought is coming. Ve susuzluktan hayvanların çoğu ölecek. And most of the animals will die
of thirst. Burada çok su var. There is a lot of water here. Ve kuraklık boyunca bitmeyecek. And it
will not run out during the drought. Güzel. Then. Tilkinin bu sözlerine inanan keçi büyük bir
iştahla kuyuya atladı. Again we have the subject keçi here. The goat. But which goat? The goat
inanan. Who believed we can say. Which believed? Who believed inanan tilkinin bu sözlerine.
The words of the fox. Tilkinin bu sözlerine inanan keçi. The goat who believed the words
of the fox. Büyük bir iştahla kuyuya atladı. Atlamak. Jump. Atladı. Jumped. Where? Into the
well. Büyük bir iştahla. We have with here. With what? With a huge a big iştah appetite.
She wants to drink more and more water. So tilkinin bu sözlerine inanan keçi büyük bir
iştahla kuyuya atladı. The goat who believed the words of the fox jumped into the well
with a huge appetite. Then what happened?
So after drinking some water. Let's write it. After drinking some water
asked to the fox. That's how we say in Turkish.
But after the drought.
How will we get out of this well?
After drinking some water the goat asked to the fox.
Okay but after the drought how will we get out of this well? Let's see how.
Önce ben çıkayım. Oradan uzanır seni de çıkarırım dedi. So tilki the fox
dedi. Say it. Merak etme. Don't worry. Önce ben çıkayım. Remember this suffix? Let me
go out.
Önce. First. Let me go out first.
I reach out. Oradan. From there. And seni de çıkarırım. Take you out also.
So çıkmak. Get out. Go out from somewhere. Çıkarmak. Take someone out or take something
out from somewhere. Tilki. Merak etme. Önce ben çıkayım. Oradan uzanır. Seni de çıkarırım
dedi. The fox said. Don't worry. Let me go out first. I reach out from there and take you out
also. Then tilki hemen keçinin üzerine atladı. Boynuzlarına basıp kuyudan dışarı çıktı. So
the fox right away immediately atladı. Jumped. Jumped where? Keçinin üzerine or üstüne. On the
goat comma virgül. Boynuzlarına basıp. Basmak means press on something or step on something.
So here stepped on. Stepped on what? Boynuzlarına. Boynuz means horn. So on his horns. The goat's
his horns. Kuyudan dışarı çıktı. And got out of the well. So tilki hemen keçinin üzerine atladı.
The fox immediately jumped on the goat. Boynuzlarına basıp. Stepped on his horns.
Kuyudan dışarı çıktı. And got out of the well. Then keçi heyecanla. Haydi şimdi beni
çıkar deyince. So when the goat said. Deyince. When the goat said. Haydi come on. Şimdi beni çıkar.
Take me out now. Tilki gülerek şöyle dedi. The fox said like this. Gülerek said.
Laughing at the same time. Öyle aptal gibi beklemek yerine. This form here is instead of yerine.
So instead of beklemek. Waiting. Aptal gibi like a stupid. Kuyuya atlamadan önce iyi düşünmeliydin.
You should think. Düşünmeli. You should have thought. Düşünmeliydin. You should have thought iyi well.
Kuyuya atlamadan önce. Before jumping into the well.
Before. Önce. Jumping. Atlamadan. Into the. So when the goat said. Come on. Take me out now.
Keçi heyecanla. Haydi şimdi beni çıkar deyince. We forgot heyecanla. So when the goat said.
Excitedly. Heyecanla. Come on. Take me out now. Tilki gülerek şöyle dedi. The fox said laughing.
Öyle aptal gibi beklemek yerine. Instead of waiting like a stupid. Kuyuya atlamadan önce.
Before jumping into the well. İyi düşünmeliydin. You should have thought well. And finally. Sonra
tilki arkasına bile bakmadan kuyruğunu sallayarak oradan uzaklaştı. Then tilki the fox
without looking. Bakmadan. Without looking. Without looking. Looking where? Arkasına. Back.
Looking back. Bile. Even. Looking back. Without even looking back. The fox. Kuyruğunu sallayarak.
Wagging his tail. Like waving. Wagging his tail. Oradan uzaklaştı. Walked away. Oradan from there.
Sonra tilki arkasına bile bakmadan kuyruğunu sallayarak oradan uzaklaştı. Then the fox.
Without even looking back. Wagging his tail. Walked away from there. And our story ends like this.
