The universe is a place of infinite beauty, but hidden within that beauty lies some of the most
terrifying and mysterious objects ever discovered. From ghost-like galaxies to deadly stars,
space continues to remind us how little we truly understand. Welcome to part three of the 10
creepiest objects in space. Brace yourself, for the darkness is deeper than ever before.
The ghost galaxy, Dragonfly 44. Dragonfly 44 is a galaxy nearly the size of the Milky Way,
but almost completely dark. With barely any visible stars, 99.99% of its mass is made of
dark matter. It's like a cosmic shadow drifting through space without light. Located in the coma
cluster, 330 million light years away, this ghost galaxy raises questions about what dark matter
truly is, and what might be hiding inside it. The Eye of Sauron, Galaxy NGC 4151. Nicknamed the Eye
of Sauron for its haunting resemblance to the evil eye from the Lord of the Rings, NGC 4151
is a galaxy with a supermassive black hole at its core. Surrounded by intense radiation and dust,
the glowing eye-like formation watches across the void from 62 million light years away.
Cold, ancient, and eerily sentient looking. The Repeating Alien Signal, FRB 121102.
Fast radio bursts are brief, intense pulses of radio waves, but FRB 121102 is special. It's
repeating. Coming from a galaxy 3 billion light years away, these signals follow a strange pattern,
leading some scientists to wonder, is it a natural phenomenon or a message from an
unknown intelligence? The black hole that shouldn't exist, LB1. In 2019, astronomers discovered a
stellar black hole in the Milky Way that's too massive to exist, at least according to current
theories. Named LB1, it weighs over 70 times the mass of the sun, much larger than expected.
How did it form? No one knows. It's an object that defies astrophysics,
and that's what makes it truly creepy. The empty space, where something was,
the Great Cold Spot. Spotted in the cosmic microwave background, the Great Cold Spot is
a massive region of space that's unusually cold and empty. Some scientists believe it's just a
coincidence. Others suspect something stranger, like a collision with another universe or a void
so vast it bends the laws of reality. Either way, it's a giant cosmic hole in the fabric of space.
The Magnetar. That glitched. SGR1935 plus 2154. This highly magnetized neutron star,
or Magnetar, emitted an unusual and sudden radio burst in 2020, unlike anything observed before.
It was so powerful that it shook satellites orbiting Earth. Scientists don't know why it
glitched or whether something else triggered it. Some believe it's a warning sign of deeper hidden
forces. The Invisible Star. OGLE 2016. BLG1928. This mysterious object is a rogue planet or tiny
black hole. It doesn't emit light and was only discovered through gravitational lensing.
It lasted just 42 minutes. The shortest event ever seen. A brief ripple in space,
invisible and unknown. Like something passing by, watching. The Hell Planet. K2141b.
K2141b is a planet where it rains. Rocks and oceans are made of lava. The winds reach supersonic
speeds and the day side surface temperatures are over 3000 degrees Celsius. It's tidally locked,
so one side is permanently in hellish fire while the other is in eternal darkness. If there's a
scarier place to visit, we haven't found it yet. The pulsar that stopped. PSR J0738-4042.
Is a pulsar that sends regular radio pulses. Until it suddenly stopped. When astronomers
checked the data, they found the pulses had changed. Interrupted. As if something had crashed
into it. Scientists believe a rogue asteroid collided with it. But what if it was something
else? Something unknown? The time-freezing black hole. ABL2261-BCG. This supergiant galaxy,
ABL2261-BCG, should contain a colossal black hole at its center, but it doesn't. It's missing.
Astronomers searched with the Hubble and Chandra telescopes and found nothing. Did it disappear?
Was it ejected? Or has it become something beyond our comprehension?
The absence of the monster is scarier than the monster itself. The deeper we look into the cosmos,
the more questions we find. Some things are better left unexplained. But we're too curious to stop.
