DS18 EXL 10 Inch Loudspeaker

What's good YouTube man, it's your boy Young Dove coming at y'all with another video here man. Y'all see something massive down here on the table. You can see some DS18 in the background. Still some PRB back there man, but we're working on getting those sold and getting them to a new owner. You can see some Sundown Audio over there as well man. So this right here that's down on the table. This is another piece of that coming home that I'm doing. Honestly, what's today? Sunday? I can't remember if I got this yesterday or Friday, but I've been holding on to it for a minute. I know damn well yesterday I definitely wanted to do a video on it, but since I had uploaded the video of the speaker grills, I was like man let me hold off and you know kind of space out the videos a little bit. Like I said man, I've got, let's see, I've got a lot of stuff around here that I gotta get to. That we will do eventually man, so you know no harm no foul there. We'll get this stuff going and get some videos done man, but this one right here she's gonna have a twin. So that will kind of already let you know what it is, but you know what let me cut all the malarkey and just get right on down to it. Got that good razor. Let me cut this thing open and hope that everything came in tact man, because like I said this is one I literally thought about doing this yesterday, but I was like you know since I did the other video I'll hold off and just wait. I could be a little bit patient around here, so let me fold that down. Y'all might already be able to see what's down in there, but she is taped up like no tomorrow, which I dig you know. Like I say in all my videos, this stuff goes through a lot. As me being a truck driver I definitely know what type of abuse this stuff takes, because I have delivered to warehouses, I have delivered from warehouses, and yeah hopefully the driver or whoever is handling this cares enough about the product, but then again they might not because they don't they really don't have to. So once again we got that new new. There's a little thank you card in here. Let me get this stuff out. DS-18. Looks like Aaron's on there. Like I said man I know quite a bit about DS-18 due to my guy Tim TJ Jones, who was a distributor for the company, but I guess once again we're moving in a new direction man. So what y'all see here in front of y'all, if I can get this box, this box is made of strength. All right that is a DS-18 EXL 10-inch speaker. Like I said in the previous video man, they used to come with a different type of package wrapping that said hey warning extremely loud and all that man, but I guess yeah you know you gotta get new with the times man. So let me see if I can flip this up because one thing about this joker right here, she ain't light. So I'm gonna try to just go ahead and slide it out. Well it still has a we like it loud, but once again like I said that is some new marketing material right there, but let me just get this box out the way. All right so I'll fold that down so y'all can see that. So yeah so once again you got a 10-inch mid-range loudspeaker, obviously that red basket, RMS is 600 watts. So you can't see it right now, right there is my Sundown SFV 500.4. I'm actually going to run two of these on the rear channel of that 500.4. The DS18 6.5 inch 8 ohm speakers, 4 pack of that, 4 of those are going to go on the front channel of that amp. So right there you see the frequency response 85 to 12k. Probably won't play it down that low, might cross it about 180 something like that. But let's see man because in the manual it says one thing as far as what it's able to play and obviously the manual I know the 6.5 recommended high pass crossover is 180 hertz. Sounds pretty good at 180 man, but I just I go up to 220 just to be on the safe side man. So let's get this open and see what it recommends. So this one recommended high pass crossover is 100 hertz. So I may or I'm I'm just going to go out and go ahead and say I'm probably going to go ahead and cross them at 180 hertz. Like I said just to be on the safe side. But I just want these things to screen like the 6.5 inches are doing right now. Yes I do have those out in the car. I might do a distance test, maybe, maybe not. God dog. That is a huge freaking speaker man. Let me get this out of the box. That is amazing. Oh got her stuck in the cardboard. Wow. I don't know about this one y'all. That thing is freaking huge. I mean I guess it says something when your mid-bass speakers is uh the same damn size as your freaking um your subwoofers. But shout out to them on the basket on this one it has the candy red all the way through and through. All right so there she is man. Like I said back in the day the dust cap on this the ds18 would be like red uh white and black. Uh obviously like I said new marketing material everything's silver now they changed that up so that's what's up man. Uh but yeah like I said once again this is a humongous freaking speaker. But there she is man push terminals. Um I want to fold her up so we can take a look at the magnet but I don't want to hurt her. There we go. So there you see man four ohm thousand watts arm well top thousand watts peak uh 600 watts rms. Usually uh the peak numbers are double that but I don't care man as long as she can handle the 600 watts. Um like I said I got another one of these on the way. Um don't know when it'll come but uh she's definitely on the way so like I said man this thing is freaking huge. Um but yeah my excitement is here and it's it's it's uh verified. And let's see yeah so she's actually going to be uh mounted in like a dog on softball for a minute. So this definitely will be going in some mdf man. I got to figure out uh what to do like I said this um along with this twin is going in the rear deck. Um got some other stuff on the way uh to try to team up with this. Like I said already got another speaker but I got some other stuff uh coming along with it to team up with it man. So y'all stick around man it's it's it's a lot of updates. Um I know it's mid-June and I'm trying to get cracking on this stuff. I know I had the front doors done for a while. Uh PRV was the plan this year. Obviously I switched that up uh due to the fact that I just wasn't able to get the sound man. So everybody keeps asking well what made you go from the PRV which are still back there the brand new ones. Those are four it's a four pack of brand new ones over there. I got the other four still out in the car just got to bring those in the house. Um but everybody keeps asking hey which made you switch from the PRV back to DS18. It's just the sound man. DS18 has a certain sound that I was trying to achieve with the PRV speakers. Now at the same time those PRV speakers are mid-bass. Hence the name MB6MB550FT. So they're they're geared for the mid-bass. Maybe if I would have got the mid-ranges which is what the EXL speakers are I might have been able to achieve that sound. Um but I don't know. But I do know for sure that I got the sound that I'm looking for now. I'm going to get even more of that sound with this big ass loud speaker right here along with a twin to it. So man I came home. I'm back DS18. I'm here. I don't see any reason for me to leave anytime soon. Uh so yeah so we're going steroid status with this huge EXL speaker man. Like I said I'm going to try to stuff uh two of these in my rear deck and see what happens man. Hopefully I come up with something good. Uh but like this right here that's some good MDF. That's definitely what it's going to go inside of man because I don't see uh anything else having the strength to hold this. This thing has some nice little weight to it man and anytime you got a strap in your loud speaker with eight screws you might need to do some work and make sure everything's good to go man.
