I Bought the 6 Strangest Fish You Should Never Buy Off The Internet…

We just bought six of the strangest species of fish
you can legally buy off the internet.
Like one that can spit water at its prey,
one that can literally go fishing,
and one that has enough power to shatter human bones.
In the past, we have collected some seriously insane fish,
like flamboyant cuttlefish, rare sturgeon,
and even a creepy payara fish.
But the ones we will be unboxing today
are on a whole nother level of strange.
Strange fish number one is right here in this box.
Let's see what we got.
Let's see.
Ooh, sick.
That is wild.
That is one crazy looking fish.
This is a wartskin anglerfish,
and if you think they're called an anglerfish for no reason,
you need to think again.
They're called the anglerfish
because they truly are anglers.
They use that fishing rod on top of their head
to catch fish.
He is the ultimate ambush predator,
with one of the fastest strikes in all the animal kingdom.
To get started, I got out a small tank
to build its natural habitat.
I began with the basics, sand and live rock
to mimic the feel of a coral reef environment.
These rocks are key because anglerfish rely on them
to blend in and to catch their prey.
Once the tank was ready, I introduced the anglerfish,
and he immediately started exploring his surroundings,
looking for a good hiding spot.
Be sure to drop a name down below in the comments
for this beast of an anglerfish.
So here's the thing about anglerfish.
They really only eat live minnows.
So we had to go out and catch some live fish
for this guy to have his dinner.
Talk to me.
You got him.
Nice, hit him with it.
Hit him with it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's a five piece of the most ultimate
prime filet mignon food for an angler.
Get him, get him, get him.
You gotta be aggressive.
Oh my God.
You gotta be aggressive.
Got him.
Should we feed this to the angler?
Yeah, this is gonna be actually new bait.
Oh my God, that might be the smallest one we've ever caught.
That is the world's smallest.
Look at this miniature puffer.
That is hilarious.
The angler would smoke that thing.
Smokage.
It's his lucky day.
We already got four filet mignons.
We can let that pork chop go.
Oh, it's recording.
We are back with his favorite food.
Let's add him in, see if he wants to eat him.
As soon as the minnow hit the water,
he immediately looked interested.
He began crawling along the rocks
and keeping his eyes set on those little minnows.
And as soon as one little guy swam across his face,
he wasted no time and boom,
absolutely crushed a glass minnow.
His favorite meal in the entire world.
Watching him hunt, I'm telling you guys,
it's like watching a master predator in action.
But this little guy, he's just the beginning.
We have so many strange fish to show you.
This guy is one of my favorites
and he is a master predator.
Imagine having an entire world filled with epic creatures
right in your pocket.

Strange fish number two is the archer fish.
Meet Hawkeye and Katniss.
These guys are sharpshooters,
and they shoot water with pinpoint accuracy
to knock insects off of branches
so that they fall in the water and they can eat them.
Now, what's even cooler about these guys,
and a little bit rare,
is these are actually saltwater archer fish.
They look like freshwater fish.
They're mostly found in freshwater,
but we got a pair of saltwater ones.
Now, to make these guys feel at home,
we set up a giant tank with rocks,
big piece of driftwood,
and we filled it up halfway
to leave some overhanging branches
to help them show off their special skills.
Now, there is one problem.
Like I mentioned before, these guys aren't regular fish.
They don't eat regular fish food,
and they don't even eat other fish.
They eat insects.
They swim near the top of the water
with their eyes always looking up,
searching for any bugs that are hanging along the branches.
So instead of giving these guys regular fish food,
we have to make a quick trip to the pet store
to get these guys crickets.
Excuse me, when you get a chance,
can I get five crickets, please?
So we added these fish to the tank
and placed some crickets on the branches
to watch the hunt begin.
As soon as we introduced these fish,
they immediately began patrolling the surface of the water,
looking straight up the branches.
We ran into quite the issue with the archer fish.
Those crickets that we bought from the store
are just too big.
So we decided to improvise.
We grabbed ourselves a glazed donut,
put it on top of this ant farm here.
We have a piece that is quite literally infested.
Look at all those ants on there.
Bag secured, good job.
Let's go feed some archer fish.
We added the ants to the branches
and immediately the archer fish took notice.
They swam right over, positioning themselves
directly beneath the branches and began patrolling.
One archer fish swam up, aimed,
and fired its first shot, but missed.
Unfazed, the other one moved right in
and took aim and let out a powerful jet of water,
knocking an ant straight into the water.
In an instant, it swallowed the ant whole.
Watching these fish in action is absolutely mesmerizing.
Their precision and unique hunting style
truly showcase the incredible adaptations
of these amazing creatures.
Strange fish number three might not even be a fish at all.
And it's definitely gonna be the longest fish.
You're damn right it is.
Wait till you see the length of this guy right here.
This guy, woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, is a black ribbon eel.
With his stark black body and yellow accents,
it's undoubtedly one of the most beautiful creatures
in the entire ocean.
This guy might even be a little bit rare
as he's got a little bit of a blue galaxy going on
underneath that face there.
These guys are obviously called ribbon eels
as their name comes from their long, ribbon-like bodies
that flutter through the water just like a ribbon would.
These eels are also reclusive hunters.
They stay hidden in the shadows of their caves
until the perfect moment to strike.
Their diet includes a variety of foods,
but their favorite snack, live shrimp.
Inside this tunnel lies thousands of ghost shrimp,
the perfect meal for our blue ribbon eel.
In the past, there used to be a nice, shallow point
of water here throughout this whole tunnel.
It looks to have dried out,
so we're gonna have to fish at the end of this tunnel
and swoop up as many shrimp as possible.
A lot of spiders.
Dude, look at all the spider eggs.
A lot of freaking spiders, bro.
Look at all the spider eggs,
and the scariest part, dude, look at this thing.
That looks like a wasp hive.
Holy crap.
I wanna go anywhere near that.
That is gnarly.
But there is an unbelievable amount of spider eggs.
Okay, here we go.
First swipe of the day.
Oh my God, you're loaded up.
Oh my God, I have a million fish and a million shrimp.
Look at, there's one right there,
but at the bottom of these, let me take these leaves out.
Oh yeah, there's a shrimp.
Guys, this is disturbing.
I'm telling you, there's a million fish in here.
We need to go to the bucket.
Target species acquired.
Look at that, perfect size.
You may not be able to tell,
but in this clump of, I don't know,
what foreign agent this is, you can see little eyeballs.
Those are all fish and shrimp right there.
There's a shrimp right here, buried in this.
So pull that out.
That's our target species right there.
Little shrimp, little shrimp.
As soon as the shrimp entered the water, he began his hunt.
The moment he spots a shrimp,
his hunting instinct immediately kicks in.
And boom, he secures his meal in an instant.
And now that he's been fed,
it's time for him to check out
his brand new 1,000 gallon home.
All right, in he goes.
Holy cow, look at the sheer size of that beast right there.
That thing is crazy looking.
He is so freaking long.
A floating ribbon, a floating ribbon.
What's so great about these eels here
is they don't like to be hiding in the rocks often.
They enjoy their time swimming around the tank.
So he's a great addition to this pond.
Fish number four, one that I'm super excited about.
Get into it.
This is gonna be a good one.
This is probably gonna be one of the most colorful creatures
that we unbox today.
I agree.
And be careful.
Possibly one of the smartest.
Love the packaging. Love this.
Love the packaging already.
Oh, black trash bag.
Holy cow, what do we got?
Is there two bags?
What do we got?
Whoa!
Octopus!
Oh, he's so cute!
This right here is a beautiful, colorful peacock mantis shrimp
one of the most intelligent creatures
in the entire animal kingdom.
So you got the peacock mantis shrimp
and then you have the spearing ones.
The spearing ones actually spear their food
while this guy clubs them and he's much more colorful.
That is a work of art.
It's a work of art in the animal kingdom.
They did it right.
I don't know how God decided to evolve something into that
but man, blessed to have them.
This is a rainbow peacock mantis shrimp.
This tiny shrimp is the undisputed champion of punching
with strikes so powerful that they can break aquarium glass
and even shatter human bones.
But that's not all.
These guys have one of the most complex visual systems
in the entire animal kingdom.
Their eyes allow them to see an astonishing range of colors
and polarized light that humans can only dream of.
And the coolest part is each of their eyes
work independently, giving them a 360 degree view
of their surroundings at all times.
To get started, we built this guy a little mini reef tank
complete with sand and a cave for him to hide in.
We wanted to replicate the environment
of his natural habitat.
Now that the tank is all set up, it's time to put him in.
Make sure to drop an awesome name for this guy
down in the comments because he truly deserves it.
Fish number five is a strange fish
and it's the biggest fish so far.
This guy is an absolute eunuch.
Oh my God, I'll be, oh!
Holy cow, that's the biggest bag I've ever seen.
It's enormous, whoa!
That is a huge, giant duh-heesh.
So this right here obviously is a remora.
And these guys hitch rides on sharks,
whales, stingrays, turtles.
So these fish right here are most famous
for the suction cup on the top of their head.
And I'm gonna put it to the test right now
and see if he'll suck.
No way he's gonna do it.
Suck to my arm.
He's not gonna do it like that.
You might have to put him on your arm.
No!
How am I gonna hold him?
I'm not putting him on me.
Oh wait, we should do it up here.
Look who's doing the ******* sucking, me.
I'm so pissed right now, guys.
Do it right here, I need you forearm down.
Ah, gee!
The hell was that?
His suction feels like a lightning bolt.
One more time, try one more time!
He's gonna do, leave him there.
He's on.
Raise your arm, raise your arm, raise your arm.
They are not.
He's on!
All right, we did it, we did it, we did it.
I wanted to get him like this.
He's not one that, you know, enjoys that.
He says swim, don't suck.
Now as you guys can see, this is a remora fish,
also known as the sucker fish.
Famous for the suction disc right on top of his head there.
Now that suction cup has a big use case
as he uses that thing to latch onto some of the largest,
biggest sea creatures in the world,
like whales, manta rays, and even big sharks.
The reason they do that is they get to hitch a free ride
while snacking on all the scraps and parasites
that the big fish leave behind.
So it's a big symbiotic relationship
that they form with their hosts,
helping them stay clean,
and getting pretty much an unlimited amount of meals.
And this guy is gonna be the perfect addition
to our big 3,000 gallon saltwater pond.
Now this is a big test for this guy right here.
Let's see if he's gonna latch on to our pet shark
that we have inside of that pond.
Go!
He's stuck.
There we go.
He's up!
That is the weirdest thing ever, dude.
Now right now he is just swimming around the tank.
I don't think he knows that there is a shark inside of here
because Stanley does like to sit right inside of the rocks.
But as soon as he sees him, if that shark starts swimming,
I have high hopes that Stanley is gonna go hitch a ride.
What a strange ass fish.
I mean, that's gotta be one of the weirdest fish
in the history, right?
As you can see, once the shark came out of hiding,
the remora swam right up to him.
But what seems to be going on here
is that the shark is just too small.
The remora is significantly larger than the shark,
which all that means is that we're gonna have to get
a bigger shark in this pond.
You can see, he's following him all throughout the rocks,
going everywhere he goes.
He wants to hitch a ride so dang bad,
he just can't get on him.
He literally just can't get on him.
So that's all right.
Looks like we're gonna have to buy a bigger shark,
which is totally fine with us.
Strange fish number six.
This one is weird.
See what we got here, dude.
Big bag.
Ooh, he's good size.
This right here.
Ooh, buddy.
This is a walking batfish.
That is incredible, bro.
Looks like a stingray mixed with like a frog, literally.
Wow, bro.
Dude, that thing is insane.
That is incredible.
Look at that thing.
That is so nuts.
He's got such a strange face.
It's a unicorn.
That is a frog.
I swear that's 19 animals combined into one.
Fish, stingray, frog, unicorn.
How many animals had to bang for that to come out?
A lot.
That one deserves a name.
So get down in the comments
and drop a name for the strangest fish we currently own.
And it's this guy right here.
He's got those two crazy side feet on the sides.
But if you actually look below him,
he's got two feet on the bottom of his body.
Do you see the feet on the bottom?
Oh my God.
He's got literal feet on the bottom.
With toes.
Now, rather than swimming like most fish would do,
they choose to walk along the ocean floor
with their modified little feet
that you guys saw from underneath.
And it uses those bizarre movements
that you're seeing right now to stalk prey
like shrimp, little crustaceans, and even little fish.
It has almost like a smushed, flattened body
and a face that straight up looks like it came
right out of an alien movie.
Making it one of, if not the strangest fish
I personally have ever seen.
I'm looking at this dude's toes right now.
He has a big toe and a pinky toe, confirmed.
Just like me.
Now we have some leftover ghost shrimp
and baby minnows that we netted up at the tunnel spot.
And I think this guy would just love to pounce on one.
He did not eat a single shrimp,
but he befriended the shrimp.
There's actually a shrimp currently on his fin.
And I think they're boys.
Look at that thing.
That is a toad.
Now comment below if you guys think
there's a stranger fish than this
that we didn't get in today's video.
Let us know in the comments.
But this dude, I think he takes the cake.
Look at the feet on that thing.
Now if you guys think the fish in today's video were weird,
you need to check out our latest video
where we got a mimic octopus
and it's one of the smartest creatures we've ever owned.
