Kathy's big change. Hello boys and girls and a warm hello to all the parents too. Welcome back to story time. Today we're going to use just one special picture to tell a big magical story. So keep your eyes right here on the photo and let's see what adventures are waiting for us. Can you see the little green caterpillar sitting on a leaf? That's Kathy. Wave hello to Kathy. Kathy is a happy wiggly little caterpillar. She loves crawling around and nibbling on green leaves. Can you pretend to munch like Kathy? Chomp chomp chomp. Look around the picture. Do you see all the colorful flowers? Kathy loves them too because flowers mean yummy leaves to snack on and nectar for her butterfly friends. But sometimes Kathy feels a little sad. She looks up at the sky and sees the butterflies flying. Look at the butterfly in the picture. Do you see its big colorful wings? Can you flap your arms like butterfly wings? Flutter flutter. Kathy whispers to herself, I wish I could fly like that one day. One morning Kathy felt very sleepy. She curled up on her leaf and built something called a cocoona tiny blanket to keep her safe. Can you point to Kathy in the picture? Imagine her snuggled inside her cozy cocoon. She stayed inside quiet and still for many days and then something magical happened. Wiggle wiggle crack crack. Kathy pushed her way out and she was no longer just a caterpillar. She had grown beautiful wings. Look closely at the picture. Can you spot Kathy as a butterfly? What colors do you see on her wings? Orange, purple, and blue? So bright and beautiful. And here's something amazing. This is how real butterflies are born. First they're eggs, then caterpillars, then they rest in a cocoon, and finally they transform into butterflies. The life lesson here friends is this.
