At first, I thought I was not like my fellowmen.
So, when I got angry, we were shot.
Soldiers are not allowed to die.
But if you are going to die, for example, you defended yourself, you were able to kill,
I was a former member of the United Church Of Christ in the Philippines.
I was a protestant.
At that time, I also believed in the ancient,
also because of the influence of other people in the service,
I believed that this will protect us.
Before I joined, I used to drink.
When I was young, I was limited to Nava Barcada.
That's why my father was looking for me.
In the villages.
Because if I go home, it will be too late because of the vices.
When I joined the Philippine National Police Academy,
I was 18 years old.
I graduated at the age of 20 years old.
I listened to Brother Eli in 2001.
It was an accident that we saw on television,
the preaching of Brother Eli.
I was there with my wife.
I saw that Brother Eli's preaching was right.
I immediately burned the booklets,
the five books,
and the stones and medals that I was given during that time.
I accepted the teaching that the Lord will really save us.
For almost two weeks, we were looking for someone who could be our doctor.
At that time, we did not have a local doctor in our area.
I was with my family, my wife, my sister-in-law, my brother-in-law,
my cousins, and other relatives in that area.
We were 15 people who were doctored at that time.
With the help of God, we were 15 people who were doctored.
We were baptized on April 13, 2001.
We were the first ones to be baptized in our local congregation,
in the local congregation of Tartaria in Silangkabiti.
Just a few months ago, my cousin and I had a police operation
where I was one of the first to enter our target group,
members of the library holdup group.
Every time we had an operation, I prayed to the Lord
that the suspects or people we would catch would not fight.
I was afraid that I would be killed
because of the teachings that I heard from Brother Eli.
A soldier is also like that.
You are not allowed to kill, but if you are going to kill,
for example, you defended yourself, you were killed,
you were shot, for example, you defended yourself, self-defense,
that is not killing, that is defending yourself.
In 2017, the war in Marawi broke out
where I was ordered to lead a special action force in a combat group.
There, I saw that I had a huge responsibility.
I prayed to the Lord that He would accompany me in our operation.
We had to relocate because the enemy had burned out our position.
I was the first one to walk.
At first, I thought that my companions were not like that.
As I was walking, we were shot.
At that time, I didn't know where the bullets were coming from.
After the encounter, we were able to return to our position.
The witnesses, my companions, taught me the correct way to shoot.
If I was not shot, I was shot in my face.
Here, I saw that there is a God who guides us.
Every day, I pray that no one will be hurt by my companions.
And that we will be able to return to our family.
In my group, there were two brothers who were with us.
We also greeted each other.
I told them that we should open our YouTube channel
and watch the videos of Brother Eli.
Sometimes, Brother Lambert and I would share with him the teachings that we received.
At that time, Brother Lambert did not know the way.
When we returned to our house, I joined them.
The war continued.
We fought for five months.
A lot of things happened to me.
I could not think of how we were able to survive.
I thanked God.
We were one of the few casualties in the unit.
We had a local friend, Mr. Rojon.
He said,
Sir, please understand that our unit is being set up.
I told him that God will save us.
We were able to return home.
When I was assisted, I felt that only God could save us.
He did not convert us.
Since I became a police officer,
not only in the encounters that we had,
but also in many other things,
I can say that nothing can compare.
I am Brother Rex Arvin Malimban,
and this is the story of my faith.
