Surprising My Wife With a Patio Makeover!

I'm a dangerous man. Babe, so good. I have never hooked propane up to anything before, so let's just hope I don't blow anything up. What's up guys? I've got a special surprise for Courtney today. I am going to put together her dream patio. We've got some brand new patio furniture. We've got a ton of weeds out here. Here, I'll show it to you guys. See this big thing of weeds here? We're going to get rid of all of those. We're going to clean off the patio. We had some contractors in here. They were painting, sanding some of the drywall and the floor. And so we've just got sort of a mess out here. We're going to clean it up. We've got a fire pit. Then we'll finish it up. We'll get some throw pillows or something that I know that she'll like. And we're going to get a reaction. I'm looking forward to giving her this little surprise. She deserves it. One thing about our last place was it was just really hard to get outside much. Courtney's been super excited to use this patio. And let's make sure that she gets the patio that she wants. Not going to lie, I'm usually a little bit on the more dangerous side. But because we're making a video, safety first. Always wear your safety glasses, people. I'm a dangerous man. We got a tangle. You see that green right there? A weed literally wrapped all the way around this sucker. All right, I think we're ready to just clap and get it done with. That looks much better. Now we need to go bag that stuff up. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. All right, so we're not going to bag the weeds. We are going to throw them in the trash can. But I think I'm just going to stick to the big stuff. I think that's good enough for now. We're going to spray another round of ground up on there later. Actually, I'm just going to do that right now. Between weed whacking and spraying this, my forearms are dead. I think it's like 20 extra bucks for one of these, with just like the little spray nozzle that you just hold on. I'm starting to think I might have been worth it, honestly. I need to get this thing swept up. Once this thing is swept, I should be able to move the furniture on here. We still don't know what we're going to do with this area. The part that I just cut down. You guys let me know what we should do with this area. If we should plant grass or put some weed barrier down and maybe some mulch. I would love to put rocks here, but I don't have a truck or anything like that. And that's also probably pretty expensive. I guess we could plant some things. But I think the lower the maintenance, the better for us right now. For now, it's just going to be a bunch of dead weeds until we figure it out. I'm dripping sweat from my brow. If I had a power washer right now, it'd be the perfect time for a power washer. But we do not. I think it's good enough. It's pretty clean. We got to try to get this thing done before sundown. So also, I forgot to mention, I got a couple holes over here. I had somebody come over once and they said that it was moles. So if you have any advice on how to get rid of moles, I would appreciate it. Because while I actually encourage the moles to dig up where all these weeds were, they are leaving a bunch of marks and a bunch of like mounds of dirt all over my backyard. I've never learned. Nobody has ever taught me how to take care of moles before. So I saw that there's like some sort of traps and stuff for them. But if you've ever dealt with moles and you have any idea how to deal with them, drop it in the comments so I can learn something and get rid of them. We are going to move the furniture in here. I have no idea how I'm going to do this by myself, but we're going to make it work. Not my brightest idea in the world. Lost a couple pillows along the way, but what have we got? Oh, I put that in the wrong spot. This one. Only thing I got left is the fireplace. We're just going to do this the easy way. That is way easier than carrying it in. All of this patio furniture is from Castlereagh. We absolutely love this brand. When Courtney told me that I could style our patio and I could do whatever I wanted with it, I knew. First of all, if I'm going to style something and I get to choose something, especially furniture, I need to make sure that it's something that Courtney likes. I knew that we wanted to make sure the patio furniture was really durable and high quality because why would I want to buy new patio furniture in three years if I bought low quality stuff? This stuff is built to last and super high quality. We absolutely love this brand. We actually furnished pretty much our entire house with Castlereagh. Let me show you guys. You guys are actually probably going to laugh when you see just how much of our furniture is from Castlereagh. This is our Dawson L-shaped couch that we've had for over a year. The cushions are machine washable, so it's super easy to clean, which is great when you have a seven month old. This recliner, Castlereagh. All six of these chairs, Castlereagh. Mirror, Castlereagh. Hopefully you're starting to get the point here. Breakfast nook table and chairs. I think one of our favorite parts about that stuff is we actually got outdoor furniture or outdoor chairs because we were just thinking if we have kids, they're going to get nice chairs dirty. And so we figured, oh, if it's outdoor, we could just take them outside and hose them down to wash them. And for the very slim chance that Courtney does not like the color or the style of the Castlereagh pieces that I picked out, they do have a 14 day return window, which is super nice. How good does this place look? Okay, I'm going to set this up. I'm thinking I should have gotten more of these branches because they don't really fill up this pot. We're going to set it on this corner here. I think we're just going to hope that Courtney can make it look pretty. We got our throw pillow and a nice white one. Of course, we got to remove the cover for our fire pit. That looks nice. So I've got a cover for the fire pit and I also have a cover for every single one of these Castlereagh pieces. So I think I might just go tuck these away in the garage for right now just so that Courtney gets a nice, pretty grand reveal. We need to get this fire pit hooked up. One thing that I am learning about owning a home is someone has to deal with the spiders and all the bugs. And I'll tell you this much, it's not going to be my wife. I have never hooked propane up to anything before. So let's just hope I don't blow anything up. There's just a knob there that I screw it on like a hose and then I just turn it to open it. This is your motivational speech. You can conquer your fears. If I do not make it, know this, I tried. Courtney, I love you. To all of you watching, if I scream like a little girl, don't judge. Oh, yuck. That's gross. Oh, nasty. I think I'm going to push the ignite button. All right, guys. So we are on day number two. Unfortunately, I could not get this fire pit to start. I got this off of Facebook Marketplace. It's always a risk when you get something on there. Courtney was really disappointed that she didn't get her surprise yesterday. And so she is anxiously waiting inside for me to finish this up. And then we will finally get her reaction. I'm super excited. And just picture the reaction that she's going to have when she sees this. She's going to absolutely love it. Let's get this fireplace hooked up and just put a couple of finishing touches on here. Hold on, you guys. I heard a hissing. I heard it. Oh, did you see that? That scared the crap out of me. Oh, my gosh. Hey, it works. Aha, praise the Lord. Okay, how do I keep it going now? I got it lit. Ah, dude, I don't even know how to keep the flame going. So we got bad news, guys. We are day number three already because we could not get the fireplace to stay lit. Fortunately, I don't know if you've ever been on Facebook market or not. The person that I bought this from was very generous and said that he would drop by sometime in the next couple weeks, see if he could figure it out. And if not, that he would just buy it back. I'm glad that I bought it from a trustworthy person. We're going to keep this here for the ambiance because even if we can't get it to start working, I will make sure that I get my wife a fireplace or a fire pit. That is because I know that she wants one. Nonetheless, we can't wait too long. Courtney needs to see this because I'm so excited to get her reaction. I think the only thing I really have left to do is put down these shades. And oh, we also have these lights up there. I know that it's daytime, but we're still going to plug them in just to give us the the ambiance, the good look. Babe, that looks so good. Dude, this, I'm telling you, I think this could be in a magazine right here. Yeah, absolutely. Oh my gosh. Can you imagine us having like cookouts or hangouts? Now, I will say that currently the fireplace is out of order. So if we can fix it, we'll fix it. If not, we'll get a new one. Oh my gosh, this is so cozy. Right? Where did you get this? That is from Castlereagh, of course. I feel like all of our furniture is from Castlereagh. Almost. I would say 90% of our furniture is from Castlereagh. Yeah, it actually is. I think the only thing that we have inside of our house that's not is like the dining room table. Yeah, just a couple of stuff from Facebook Market. Alex, this looks really good. You got some good style. What are you most looking forward to using the space for? Probably having like cookouts or if we're looking in the future, wait, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. It'll be perfect for us and our four kids. Oh my goodness. I think we're getting a little out of ourselves here. No, but like, can you imagine like just having our friends here? Yeah. Oh my goodness. Once we do get this working, that's going to be amazing. So I know how much you love being outside too. So hopefully this space will, I don't know, it'll just be nice and cozy and will incentivize you to get outside a little bit, you know? Alex, I love this. I love the little twinkly lights. We haven't even turned those on at night yet. No. Maybe tonight we turn them on. Yeah. And these shades, like I know this probably wasn't intentional, but the fact that like these shades match like everything. Right? It's like the perfect little vibe. That's what I'm saying. I'm so excited to just be able to be outside, honestly, and just sit down. I know. The fan's perfect. Right? That's what I'm saying. It's hot. It's like 90 degrees out right now. It is. I can't believe that you're wearing that. Okay. Inside, it is cold. True. Out here, not so much. You could literally take a nap out here. I actually could. Now be honest with me. Do you like the throw pillows and this little rinky dinky plant that I got? I feel like it's a vibe. I like it. No way. Yeah. I did an okay job picking them up. You probably want to take the price tag off of that plant. Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah. Oopsie. But other than that, like I think these match perfectly. Are you kidding me? Come on. I dude, I had no idea what to choose. So I was like, well, I know Courtney likes white and like white kind of matches with everything. No, it's perfect.
