Personally, I like to challenge myself. We all know that we love procrastinating and I'm not
the exception. I think and I honestly believe it's the best way. When you put it all together,
this is what actual fitness is about. Hi guys, welcome to my channel. Today we're going to talk
about training. It's Talking Tuesdays episode 4. If you don't know me, my name is Vera and I
usually upload workout videos, but sometimes I do little chats on different fitness related topics.
We're going to talk about training, my personal way of fitting the workouts into my routine,
and some tips on how to navigate my channel so it's easier for you to get on a consistent track
with your own workouts. There are certain things I want to mention and reiterate before we go
into the basics. First, set realistic goals, even for your everyday workouts. Personally, I like to
challenge myself in my every workout. So if I pick a workout, I think of it as a way of learning
something new and trying to do it better, because I have at least done it once or filming. So usually
what I do is that I try to remember the exercise that I found extremely challenging or I didn't
perform too well, and I tell myself that I'm going to try to do it better this time. Secondly, we all
know that we love procrastinating and I'm not the exception, so I try not to put off the workout and
do it as early as I can in a day. And thirdly, I always praise myself for accomplishing the routine.
Sometimes I don't even need to do that because I feel happy instantly, but sometimes if I didn't do
too well or I kind of slide back a little bit, I still tell myself that I did a good job because I
did the workout. There are two points that I mentioned previously, I believe in my first video,
that consistency and intensity of the workouts should be there on a daily basis. And while
consistency by itself is pretty transparent, the intensity can be and should be adjusted. Every day
there are certain criteria which you have to take into consideration before picking the workout. So
the time of the day you're going to do the workout, time available for the workout, space available.
Also the most important probably is your physical condition. If you feel tired or you feel
unwell or a little bit sick or if you have any injuries, like all of those things should be
taken into account when choosing what to do. My workouts, except for those days when I film,
usually I do 20 to 50 minutes, normally 30-40. So these are the extreme. And sometimes you guys
tell me, oh please do longer workouts. I know that's a personal preference, but please don't
be fooled by the lengths. Sometimes a 20 minute workout, if you do it properly, the 20 minute ones
can burn more or boost your energy levels even better than the 50 minute ones, because you will
tend to spread out your energy. But of course different lengths are ideal for the weekly plan,
and that's why I try to always include shorter and longer workouts throughout the week, not to
get used to the same schedule I think. And I honestly believe it's the best way. It's the
functionality in itself. When you do different timers, when you do different lengths, when you
do different types of exercises, when you do cardio, strength training, calisthenics, or some
flexibility, mobility, coordination, and balance moves, when you put it all together, this is what
actual fitness is about. This is what gives our fitness programs real life. I've also noticed,
and this is of course like a major disclaimer here, not for everyone, if you haven't been training
every day for a long period of time, the less time you need to warm up, if you're not prone to
injuries for example. So it's not like you should be skipping your warm-up every single day, but
this is something to take into consideration if you're so short of time. You need to squeeze in
like 10 or 15 minutes or something. It's much better to do that than skip the workout. I try to do my
workout as early in the day as possible, and if it means that I train on an empty stomach, it's okay.
Therefore, I strongly encourage you to find the time also to manage your schedule somehow,
so there is at least one hour after a meal. All right, so now if you're a beginner, or if you're
new to the channel, or if you're still trying to figure out how to navigate through, first of all,
there are playlists, and I'm trying to make them as to the point as possible. Mention if you need
another playlist to be composed, I will definitely do that. So on going through the playlists, you get
the basic idea, then looking at the preview can also tell you what the workout is about, that you
can read the title, and most importantly, you should read the description. If you don't have time to read
the description, then just read a small passage which tells you about the difficulty of the workout,
the lengths, and the muscles work, so the caloric burn is very approximated. So I wouldn't be relying
on that too much, but you get the general idea. If you don't know all the moves yet, what I recommend
is if you have a minute or two, and just scroll through the routine to try to see if you need
something easier, or this one is going to suit you just right. So on my channel I have
70 to I believe 5 minute workouts, so they're basically every level, every taste,
every desired muscle group, but they're all body weight. Some of them have jump rope, or a chair, or
resistance band, but those are very few. Normally you work with your body, they are high intensity
interval training, which is usually a mix of cardio and strength training, then there can be something
like calisthenics or strength training by itself, also pilates, yoga, some ballet, which are actually
super effective, but often skipped through. Also I have some fun ones like dance or kickboxing, which
are basically HIIT or cardio exercises. The only thing I would like to tell you about is how not to
get trapped by your own mind. And this happens so so often, like our body is constantly trying to
protect us. Our mind is trying to convince us that it's too hard for us. How to get around this thing?
You can always, if you feel like you're completely out of power, just pick something
stretchy, light, 10 minute and relax about it. Forget that you're not doing any fat burn or
power stuff. Just do this and see how it goes. If you feel like it really gives you more energy
and you're kind of getting into the vibe, then choose another 10 minute one afterwards, or choose
a longer one afterwards, or just go and take shower and smile, because 10 minute stretchy one is also
really beneficial to your health. So you can already start to be more confident about your
daily routines. And sometimes I get this huge adrenaline rush, I'm even scared to jump into it,
but it feels so good. This challenge cannot be compared to anything else. So I wish you to feel
that. I wish you to know that you are doing yourself a lot of good every single day. Don't
be afraid to ask questions, to step into something new. Getting out of your comfort zone is inevitably
a lot of fun. I wish you a very nice day. Thank you for joining me for this talking episode.
If you have any questions, welcome to leave them in the comments, and I will see you next time. Bye!
