So it's time for these guys to put up or shut up as we go green.
Let's race at Sports Natsugo!
It's not going to be bombastic off the line, but looking good already for Yui Sekiguchi to challenge Hiroki Onsu.
Toyota want the lead nice and early.
They know that ARTA Mugen have the potential to hold up the fielder here if they don't get a decent run.
Off we go in GT300. It's much more congested.
And already the J-LOC Lamborghini is going to make the bid to get into second position.
And the door will be left open for the good-smart Mercedes to slot in.
If there's a chance to get through as well, J-LOC goes for it on the inside line.
Is that going to be the move done from Yuya Motojima?
No, well covered there by Hiroki Yoshimoto.
Oh, problems for the 87 J-LOC.
That's a puncture in the rear.
Rear puncture, yeah, that's disastrous for number 87.
Been very diverse over the last few years.
It's up the inside, around the outside, sorry.
Using the traffic.
Oh, Tsukuyo Matsuda shows why he is the most winning driver on the current Super GT grid.
Brake wide into the first turn there
as the Satomachi Open Supra is going to go wheel-to-wheel there with the Unirobo Ferrari.
Nicely done as the Polos Ferrari goes around the outside.
Nice moves already.
Up into the lead.
Yes, up into the lead.
That's Yuichi Kiguchi.
He's got the Saad Supra ahead of Hiroki Otsu.
Will we get a replay here? I think we will.
Oh, wow, that's commitment over the top of the crest, isn't it?
Very nice work indeed as they continue to work their way through the GT300 traffic.
And this is for the lead up on the inside in GT300.
That's Yoshimoto.
He takes the lead from Sako Sullivan.
So we've had a lead change in 500.
Now a lead change in 300 as well.
You've got to be careful that you're on the right side of the coin.
Here comes the Good Smile going for third position side by side with Yuya Motojima.
And it's Tatsuya Katayoka getting into third position at a perfect time.
Lots of overtaking already here at Sugo.
Could the fourth position be under grabs here?
That could be Kohei Oirate getting through in the condo
as now we're going side by side in the Nissan Camp.
And there goes Matsuda into third.
Right round the outside of one and two on Daiki Sasaki.
Kondo-san looks very relieved about that one.
Further back.
This is getting pretty heated now.
Shunkoide is going to have his attempt right round the outside of Takaboshi.
And he's going to make it.
Shunkoide makes the move.
And so too does the ARTA of Tomoki Najiri.
He's going to wait and pick his moment a little later on.
But now he's going to go for it.
Round the outside of two.
Tucking in for the inside of three.
Sugiyo Matsuda drives way away from Hiroki Otsu on sheer exhilaration.
Through to two and up to three.
Mega from Matsuda.
Now we're going to get Shunkoide.
Wheel to wheel with Kenta Yamashita down the straight.
And there could be a chance for Najiri round the outside as well.
They've got the good smart Mercedes in front of them.
Perfect from Koide.
Careful, Kenta.
You do not want to tag the car as it goes past you.
Now Najiri's going to get through.
Izawa could end up going through easily as well here.
It's going to be three in one.
Oh my goodness.
The Tom's Toyota plummets from fifth to eighth in about 12 seconds.
The championship leading car.
That's two of the main players in GT300.
Let's see what happens.
The Panos Ferrari's on the outside.
And there's the contact.
The Leon Mercedes goes around.
And Ibuki Taira's got nowhere to go,
but he clouds the back of the Satomachi Open Supra.
Here he was as we see the number two car being in trouble.
Looks like a puncture.
Yeah, big damage to the Inging.
That's not just put the Leon Mercedes title attack on hot water.
It's also put the Inging team under fire.
To abandon his attack lap.
Oh, Matsuda's taking the lead.
Wow, Matsuda's in front.
Matsuda's got the lead on Sekiguchi.
So before we've even reached half distance,
we have had a Honda lead the race.
We've had a Toyota lead the race.
And now we've had a Nissan leading.
Absolutely incredible.
Here it is side by side.
Round the outside as well.
Oh my goodness.
Here we go again.
This number seven looked like it was slow,
but Sekiguchi right at the slipstream here.
He wants this back from Sugiya Matsuda.
He's going to try and drive right round the outside.
Matsuda is going to make that car as wide as possible.
They both run wide at the first corner.
And it's almost Tako Sullivan into the side of them.
Yui Sekiguchi determined to put Sugiya Matsuda off
as he tries to get this lead back again.
He ties back. Matsuda runs wide.
Sekiguchi's going to have it back.
How many lead changes do you want in Super GT
before we even get to the pit stops?
Race of the year, hands down.
Absolutely, absolutely.
And we're not even a third of the way through.
And I think we've got more lead changes to come here.
They're still trying to get these tyres up to temperature.
Here comes Tsukakoshi.
Oh, has he got enough in the car?
Yes, he has.
He draws that one and he's through.
So Tsukakoshi puts the real racing Honda
through into third position for the time being.
Over Tsukakoshi was 18 seconds there.
There goes the impulse.
Well, for once the Tom's Toyota looks completely out of sorts
as now Kazuki Hidamine gets past Choksuboi.
Oh, this is going from bad to worse.
It's looking like the Tom's Toyota isn't even going to score a point here.
And even the NEOS rookie team are going to get that
as there goes the condo Nissan.
But it is a big gap to try for.
Oh, big crash on the straight.
Oh, this is going to be a safety car.
We're only really going to see the aftermath, aren't we?
There's the initial contact further back.
And oh, my goodness, the shade racing car.
That's a big hammer blow for Riki Okuza
who was trying to get out of the way of the shade racing car.
So the Aston has collided with the shade.
And the number 64 Nakajima car was trying to get out of the way.
And that's a big impact for Riki Okuza into the pit wall entry.
Ay yi yi.
And very nearly clouded in there was Oliver Rasmussen.
Did Oliver Rasmussen go in with them and then reverse out?
I think he did.
Let's not forget that the leading cars in the championship battle now
are the number 23 Nismo Nissan
and the number 37 Toyota Supra.
But around the outside comes Makino on Giuliano Alessi.
What a move around the outside from Tadda.
A beautiful overtake.
As up over the top of the crest, it's green, green, green, green once again.
And now here comes the move from Tepe Notori
to go side by side with Tsukagoshi.
Will he drive right round the outside? Yes.
Oh, what a move from Tepe Notori.
Now he's only got 13 minutes to go after Sascha Fenestras.
Go get him.
Can he get the move done here?
Here he goes. Fenestras having to defend again.
Notori going round the far side.
He's got the potential.
Can he keep his foot in? He's on the curb.
Tepe, you went too aggressive, too early.
And now the Honda's going to be all over him like a bad habit.
He goes long round the far side again.
Fenestras cuts him off.
But this time Notori is wise to it.
Can he keep his foot in?
I thought he might just get the undercut there on the inside.
Fenestras backs him up into the path of the Honda.
Notori knows he's running out of opportunities.
But Fenestras is back. He's well against the ropes.
It certainly is.
It's going to come down to horseback corners.
That's going to be the last opportunity, I think,
that Fenestras is really struggling.
You can tell because Sakoshi is right there.
Sato is right there.
Even going back to further behind at the end.
That's Alesi.
Very close indeed.
I was just rocketed by that.
Alesi is there at P5.
Notori is going to go right round the far side.
They're going to go side by side at horseback.
And Notori's made it!
Oh my goodness!
I can't believe it's even happened.
It's a comeback from Tetsuya Notori.
They have stolen the win away.
Just four corners from home.
Now they've got the final hairpin to navigate.
They've taken the win out of Toyota's fingers.
Kondo Racing will get their first win for nearly a decade.
Tetsuya Notori comes of age in GT500.
His first win in the GT500 category
as Kondo steal it on the very last lap.
What a finish.
We're going to have to unravel after this one,
but it's going to be a well-deserved victory for the number 60,
the clear favourite from the outset.
They've got the job done, starting from second place.
Well done to Hiroki Yoshimoto and Shunsuke Konno.
First win for them since 2021.
Let's go through the result.
It's a Kondo-Nissan victory for the first time in nine years
as the top three cars are separated by less than a second.
Denso Sato Supra second,
Real Honda third,
then the ARTA Mugen of Otsu and Sato fourth,
ahead of the Deloitte's Tom Supra.
Championship-wise, that's big in fifth position.
Then the Kunimitsu Honda,
the Nismo 23,
the Rookie 14 Supra ahead of the Tom Supra,
and that car was also behind the ARTA Mugen.
The Wedsport and Keeper Supras are 11th and 12th.
They get the final points.
In GT300, it's the Sintium LM Corsa that gets the win
ahead of the Kondo-Nissan and the 7x7 Porsche
getting their first podium.
The good smart Mercedes fourth,
from the Gaynor Nissan in fifth position
ahead of the Greenrose Supra,
the Up Garage AMG,
the Carguy Ferrari,
the Mach 5,
the Helm GT-R getting some valuable points on the board there
in 10th place.
11th for the Unirobo Ferrari
and 12th for the Leon Pyramid Mercedes
that scrapes just one point.
But there was drama all the way
and plenty of big names falling by the wayside,
including, of course,
the Subaru BRZ in the closing stages,
the LC500h dropping out of the race too as well,
I noticed there,
for Oliver Rasmussen and Miki Koyama.
The title battle,
well, there's now just eight points in it
heading to the final two races of the year.
Sekiguchi and Fenestraz are now just
15.5 points back from the lead,
so they are now genuine championship contenders
with two races to go.
There are five genuine cars in this fight,
six if you count the Nissan,
so it's definitely going to be
an exciting fight to the end.
Check out the top three cars though
in the GT300 title fight.
In fact,
check out the top five.
Very close indeed
and there's still, for my money,
seven or maybe even eight cars
that are in the hunt for the title.
