Today we continue the pear tree saga! We paint all of our boards' end grain and strap them up in stacks. Letting them sit in my hot attic for ages will then (hopefully) provide me with boards that are neither cracked nor bowed for the most part. After that we also resaw some more branches on my band saw :) Enjoy! =D

in case you haven't watched the last
episode and also the episode on the
sawmill then you should definitely do so
link down there in the description last
time around i got
big logs of pear tree and i went over to
the stoma and got myself those boards
and also these cookies over there a lot
of them so much wood and
last episode that means yesterday i
didn't get around to
paint the end crane such that
we can prevent
the wood from cracking um along the end
crane this is where all the water is is
going to escape basically out of the
slab most of the water so we want them
to dry
slowly it's hardwood we don't want them
to crack and like yeah i'm going to
paint them today what i'm also going to
do is i'm going to
tighten them really really hard to one
another using those belts just because
we don't want them to bow either we
don't want them to crack and we don't
want them to bow those are the two
things you want the wood
um
prevented from yeah and this is what we
are going to do and i hope you are going
to enjoy this
i know rather monotonic
episode of the workshop vlog
enjoy
so
[Music]
okay so the first one is done at least
stacking it up
and painting it
it's extremely warm up here
i still have to wear long pants due to
my work at school so yeah
don't have any shorts with me now my i
can i can manage now i'm going to wrap
it up with the belts
and put a lot of tension on it
hmm
so
so
okay
so
[Music]
all right i think that should work i
should have bought more of those they
are better to tension everything but um
i think this should suffice for now if i
notice anything bowing
on the ends i'm going to grab more of
these belts and then everything is going
to be fine ok now from last stack
so
all right
been there done that
so i stacked up all my cash
my hot wood kit um and yeah it's it's a
whole lot it's over let us count the
last time we counted 22 cookies we've
got here how many of those 1.7 meter
plates do we have
one two three four five six seven eight
nine ten ten in total three centimeters
thick there's a lot of cash trust me on
this one and the shorter ones which are
about one
twenty if i'm not mistaken
um one two three four five
six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve
twelve and a half you could say
that's also really good that's some
really good loot now for the rest of the
workshop vlog i wanted to
resource some boards from also pear and
a bit of plum maybe i'm not certain um i
have a whole lot of these branches lying
around pretty thick ones and i wanted to
cut a bunch of these just to look how
they are looking
at the core and the like so yeah enjoy
the rest of the vlog and i hope you did
enjoy the process thus far
i'm pretty soaked in sweat it's
extremely warm up here so yeah i really
hope that my wood is going to dry really
really fast let's go
that was a great car that went really
smooth
and
this plum tree actually has a bit of
pearl to it which is amazing it's just a
little bit but let's see cool thing
maybe i'm going to cast this into epoxy
yeah let's get started and
let's make some planks out of that boy
the boy
