God's Medicine Christine Miller

Well praise the Lord tonight. I knew exactly what I was going to minister on and the title is God's medicine and Of course, I've ministered along these lines many times before but faith doesn't come by what we heard in the past It comes by continually hearing and so we're going to talk about that tonight, and I believe it's going to minister to you and bless you you know One of the things that we've said many times before is that it's not wrong to go to a doctor It's not wrong to take medicine But what is wrong is if you go to a doctor and you take medicine without Consulting with the Lord in other words when you get symptoms in your body The first thing you ought to be thinking about is Lord. What should I do? You should be thinking about going to the Lord in prayer and talking to him about it and asking him What should I do about this and if you have a good? Fellowship with the Lord you walk with him daily you talk with him daily There should be no reason to be fretting or be worried about something that crops up in your body You ought to be going to him with confidence and saying Lord, you know all things you know, is this something that I have the measure of faith to deal with or do I need to go to a doctor and He's more than capable of letting you know But even if you do go to a doctor God expects us to stand on his word and develop our faith And so it's really important when we're talking about God's medicine. We're not talking about man's medicine. We're talking about God's medicine tonight So I just wanted to start out saying that we're not against doctors We need to say that for the benefit of those that tune in that maybe aren't familiar with us We're not against seeing doctors, but we are against seeing doctors without talking to God and praying And thank God that we have this mighty awesome Privilege that we can come boldly before the throne of God and we can receive our needs met in prayer Amen, so if you do go to a doctor though, let's just use this natural illustration for tonight It is very important to follow the instructions that they give you for whatever that particular need is Now if the doctor, you know, think about this doctors take their practice very seriously If you go to see a doctor and they prescribe a medication or some kind of a treatment plan for you They're very serious about what they prescribe First of all, they don't desire to see you die or be injured Secondly, they don't want a lawsuit and so they're very serious and intentional about what they prescribe and they've gone to school and study this so they know exactly what to prescribe and so they take the time to give you a prescription and the majority of people that go to a doctor will actually be faithful to follow the doctor's instructions and If you go to a pharmacy and you pick up a prescription that pharmacy will generally give you a printed form that has all those instructions typed out exactly how you're to take that medication and We all know this if they tell you to take one pill three times a day for ten days Then that's the way you need to take it. And if you say well, you know, I don't agree with this pharmacy I don't agree with what they say about it. I think I'll take three pills one time a day for three days Well, I want you to know that's not gonna work You know, you're gonna end up injuring yourself Maybe in some cases killing yourself. You can't decide what the instructions are going to be for the medication You need to follow what the expert says about it And when it comes to healing of the body through the spirit of man when it comes to God's form of healing We can't make the rules guys We can't decide how the instructions are going to work we can't read the instructions in the word and then decide to alter it and do it our way and then get Frustrated with God if it doesn't work because God's very specific about his instructions. So we're going to take a look at that tonight Let's turn in our Bibles, let's see here Let's turn in our Bibles to Proverbs chapter 4 and We're gonna read God's instructions for taking his medicine amen He gives us specific instructions in Proverbs chapter 4 and verse 20 and by the way, you know, you may have noticed you may not have but I Have my what the Bible says about healing booklet and mine is extremely tattered because I go through these so often But if yours is never tattered, it means you're not taking the medicine like you should be in Proverbs chapter 4 and verse 20 All right. It says my son Attend to my words That's the amplified translation that says it that way the New King James says give attention to my words I like to say it this way pay attention pay attention to the Word of God Incline your ear to my sayings Do not let them depart from your eyes Keep them in the midst of your heart For they are life God's words are life to those who find them and health or medicine to all their flesh I Like that word all God's words will heal all of your flesh Keep your heart with all diligence For out of its spring the issues of life so we see this that God Has given us a way that we can experience physical healing, but it comes from the heart you know God's medicine has to get into our spirit or into our hearts in abundance and Then it permeates our natural flesh from there, you know, whereas natural medicine it goes into the physical body Whether it goes in through a vein or goes into your stomach and and processes through the digestive system Natural medicine works for the through the physical body But God's medicine works through the spirit of man. And so the way we get God's medicine into our spirits Think about this for a minute If I want to get let's say an antibiotic into my body. I have to put it into my mouth I have to swallow it and I have to let it get absorbed into my body But if I want God's medicine to heal my body I have to take it in through the eye gate the ear gate I have to speak it out of my mouth and then it gets into my spirit that way and Once it's in my spirit and abundance it begins to permeate my flesh with healing power Now that's breaking it down in a very simplified manner But you have to understand that in order to receive healing God's way we have to do it his way We have to get it into our spirit man it's not enough just to have the word in our heads or in our minds and If you've been taking extra time to meditate in these scriptures in the last few weeks You should be getting be beginning to see a difference in the way you're thinking about the word You know, it's not enough just to know first Peter 2 24 by his stripes. I was healed No, I mean we all could quote that we all know it in our minds We've read it repeatedly. We've heard it repeatedly. We've looked at it with our eyes repeatedly But if we're not meditating on it day and night and it's not in our spirit man if it hasn't gotten absorbed in our spirit, we're not really believing it from the heart and Therein is where the trouble is for a lot of Christians is they know it in their head But they don't know it in their hearts And so this form of meditation this scripture that we just read from Proverbs 4 is telling us Guard your heart above all else that you guard Because what's in there is what comes out in your life? From out of its spring the issues of life and the way to guard our hearts is by paying attention We're to pay attention to words that we speak in here We're to incline our ear to the right things to God's Word We are to not let God's Word depart from before our eyes We're to keep them in the midst of our heart. Now. We're gonna break this down just a little bit here in Verse 20. I'm sorry verse 22 of Proverbs 4. It says God's words are life or medicine medicine to all our flesh Keep them in the midst of your heart for they are life to those that find them and health to all their flesh So that word health in the Hebrew actually also means medicine Natural medicine that works to heal your body so God's words are Medicine to our physical bodies. I love this because medicine is something that Is designed to heal the body, you know, I was thinking about this recently that if you went to a doctor and They prescribe a particular medication and Let's say, you know, they diagnosed you with something that you didn't know what it was Maybe you'd never heard of it and they said but by the way We have a new medication that was just developed and this medication is 100% guaranteed to work Wow, you would just be elated about that because you would have the doctor's word that if I take this medication It's 100% guaranteed to get rid of these particular symptoms or this problem you know years ago many years ago Tim maybe was six months old and I Developed some kind of a terrible respiratory infection, you know I had a terrible head cold Then I began coughing and coughing and coughing and it's very memorable because this does not happen to me That was probably one of the only times in my life Maybe once or twice ever in my life where I could not stop coughing and I probably was worn down I hadn't slept. Well, I have two small children and so I finally got to the place after days and days of coughing and coughing and coughing and It was mostly a dry cough where I finally went to a doctor and They diagnosed me with walking pneumonia So they prescribed an antibiotic for me and this I knew about antibiotics that an antibiotic Not only do you have to take it the full 10 days? If that's the particular type you're taking but you may not see any result from it for at least three full days So I took this antibiotic day one. I took it. I'm still coughing away day two I took it and I'm still coughing Day three I took it and towards the end of the day I was still coughing now because it was the end of the third day. I got a little bit concerned Why is this not working? This should have been working by now And so I called the physician's office and I said look I'm still coughing and they said well just keep taking the medicine Do you know when I woke up on the fourth day the cough stopped? Now here's the point. I followed the instructions on the prescription I took the antibiotic just like they prescribed and I knew that it was guaranteed to work If it was the right medication and the right diagnosis within three days, I should get relief So I was concerned when I wasn't getting relief, but then at last thank God I did get the relief You know, I put my faith in that medicine at that particular season in my life Well, the thing the Lord's been emphasizing to me in the last few weeks is that when he prescribes medication for us meaning his word It's backed up with a 100% guarantee 100% if you'll follow these instructions and just take the word every day like you should you can have such confidence in it that it Is working and if you don't feel any different on day one Oh, well, I didn't feel any different day one with the end of I with the antibiotic I took if you don't feel any different on day two doesn't mean it's not working If you don't feel any different on day three, it still doesn't mean it's not working Because that medicine that I was putting into my body back then Was doing a job it was working on killing the disease germ in my system Well God's Word does the same thing it's got a hundred percent guarantee and if you'll continue to take it day and night Continue to take it day and night you can have confidence Even if you still feel symptoms that that medicine God's Word is working in you You know, God can't fail God never lies. He's not a man that he should lie I don't think physicians ever intend to lie, but sometimes they tell you something and it's not accurate But God's always accurate and if he says his word is medicine to all our flesh That means it doesn't matter how difficult the problem is God's medicine will work for it. It works every time 100% guaranteed. Amen Now let's just break down these instructions for a few minutes here The first part of Proverbs chapter 4 verse 20 says attend to God's Word. So number one Attend to God's words that means pay close attention to what God is saying Get focused and stay focused on what the word is saying regarding healing not what your body is saying You know, we have to realize that God's Word is speaking directly to us about our situation It's not just out there as a general statement But it's for you personally and you have to get focused on this word because you know Sometimes your symptoms are mighty loud Sometimes your symptoms are telling you just crawl into bed and just go to sleep Don't don't even try to get in the word right now You're too tired to handle this or you're too overwhelmed to handle this. That's a big mistake you know when I was Dealing with symptoms these last few weeks. I felt tired just like everybody else I felt like crawling into bed, but there were a couple of things the Holy Spirit told me specifically to do Number one, I felt led to take a long walk like 1.7 mile walk or 1.25 mile elliptical Exercise on a daily basis keep moving. That's what I felt like the Lord said keep moving Secondly, no matter how I felt I took my healing scriptures day and night That's why we provide these healing booklets so that it's broken down in one place for you But you can also go to your Bible and just look up those scriptures So I was taking those scriptures day and night and even when I'm sitting in a chair And I'm not feeling like it's working or I'm not feeling like I have the energy for it I know that I have to follow these instructions in order for it to work and so I would encourage you if you're going through something right now where you have symptoms in your body and even let's just say it's Toe fungus, you know something that you can't necessarily feel Why not just start developing your faith on things that are not life-threatening? Because if you don't then when something more serious comes along you won't be equipped to handle it So you take this word and you meditate on it no matter how you feel you get focused on it if you focus on the word instead of how you feel the word can get into your heart in abundance and Change how you feel? So, you know what? I'm trying to say is it's easy to focus on the symptoms. Anybody can do that But it takes an amount of diligence To focus on what God says and it just keeps saying what God says regardless of what you're feeling in your body when you do that, you're giving place to the supernatural and All of us even though we belong to God even though healing is the children's bread We don't always give place to the supernatural But God wants us to you know, he Jesus died and gave us a place He positioned us so that we could live in the supernatural But it's a choice. It's not something that just automatically happens, but oh to have this ability and then to ignore it That would be the greatest tragedy of all So I encourage you to take that place and and step into the supernatural now the second thing that we see here as far as these instructions for taking God's medicine is we are to consent and submit to God's sayings That means we have to have a teachable attitude That means we can't have the attitude. Well, I know better or I already heard that. I already know that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, or Getting the attitude. Well, I already did that You know, sometimes somebody will say well have you done this are you doing that I've already done that Well as soon as somebody flings back at you a statement like that. That's the first indication that they're not being teachable They're not being meek Towards the word they're not submitting to the sayings of the word Because just because you already did it doesn't mean you shouldn't keep doing it But maybe in essence what they're saying is well, I already tried that tried it Well the word my brother Hagen would say the word don't work by trying it it works by doing it and you do it by Meditating in it day and night and saying it day and night So we want to consent and submit to God's sayings you know the devil his greatest joy and strategy is to try to divert your attention from God's Word and Divert it to the negative circumstance Because he knows That whoever gets your attention gains access to your life So he's ever trying to get your attention, you know, God wants your attention, but he doesn't shout and whistle and cause Natural feelings to come over you to get your attention Whereas the devil who's the god of this world system his mechanism for getting your attention is in the physical realm So he will bring circumstances against your life that shout at you he'll bring symptoms or pains in your body that are Overwhelmingly strong he'll bring things to try to pull your attention away from what God says about it And it's a strategy you have to be mindful of these strategies So we are not to give the devil our attention when we give too much attention to sickness and disease We're in essence giving attention to the father of sickness and disease and so I would encourage you now I'm not saying be foolish and ignore things, you know If you need to go to a doctor, like I said a week ago by all means go to a doctor But don't sit around day and night thinking about your problems because that never did solve anything. Amen So we're to consent and submit to God's sayings. We're to stay teachable We're to grow in the word and as we grow in the word often we find answers to questions that we had earlier on You know, sometimes people they'll get hung up on tough questions. Well, why did this happen? Well, why did it have to turn out that way, you know, why did the church get attacked the way it did, you know? Don't go there because your answer is not there Your answers in the realm of the spirit your answers in the Word of God and as we spend more time in the word We'll often get our answers But if you don't always get the answer just keep staying in the word keep meditating in the word Keep speaking the word because God's Word works. Amen faith makes it work and Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God Now number three a third instruction in Proverbs 4 that we see Never let the Word of God depart from your eyes never Now this does not mean that we read our Bibles 24 hours a day Because obviously that would be impossible but Here's what it doesn't mean. It doesn't mean that we just pick up our Bible every once in a while So, you know We've got to make sure that we're spending adequate time every day in the word if net if need be turn off that television You know, I know your flesh craves watching television shows everybody's flesh wants to but you've got to turn it off you've got to be Well put on your big-boy pants grow up be an adult Do you want to be well or not? And We have to sometimes make hard decisions. We say no to the flesh You know This generation has had more trouble with the flesh than any generation in history when I think about the pioneers They didn't have time for the flesh you know, they didn't have time to think about how they felt they had to keep moving and working and grunting and and building and developing or they wouldn't have survived and so they had to learn how to say no to the flesh and You know, it's okay to say no to your flesh and say yes to God Because therein is where the victory is So we're to take more than just five minutes a day if we want this medicine to work for us. That's my point It means that we have to look at healing scriptures that minister to our hearts, you know, maybe today It's one scripture and maybe tomorrow the Holy Spirit will lead you to a different scripture that ministers to you that day You follow the leading of the Spirit and you cannot fail He'll always lead you to the right word at the right time And when he does lead you to that word Don't just flippantly look at it, but take time to really meditate on it and get it into your heart and think about it Ponder it after all the word meditate means to mutter to ponder to think about To go over it again and again and just as an example I'm gonna look at one of the scriptures we have in this healing booklet in Psalm 107 And I was I was looking at this earlier Of course, I look at these twice a day, but Psalm 107 verse 20 says he sent his word and healed them So what I do is when I quote these scriptures I say he sent his word and healed me and The more I meditated on it the more it became alive in me. He sent his word. He already did past tense and Healed me and since he cannot lie, that means therefore I'm healed End of the story. I am healed just based on that scripture alone, and there are so many more Just going to Exodus 15 This is what I do with this scripture now the beauty of these books is that we have lots of meditation under each scripture so not only do we get the healing scripture, but then we have different translations and Then we have meditation that we can speak out loud all centered around that particular scripture So one of the things I do with Exodus 15 with this healing booklet is when I get to the end It says father I thank you because you are my healer and you have completely healed me and Every time I finish that sentence I say father I thank you that because you have completely healed me that I can boldly declare that every cell Every tissue and every organ of my body is completely healed right now and functions perfectly And then I'll go over different systems I thank you that every joint every bone every muscle every ligament every tendon are completely healed and function perfectly I thank you Lord that my cardiovascular system is completely healed and functions perfectly I thank you that my digestive system is completely healed and functions perfectly and you get the idea You know I take time and I'll specifically mention certain systems if I you know feel that they need more medicine And that's how you meditate on the Word of God. You just you bring it up as a praise to God you thank him You expound on what you're reading you make it real to you it's not just words in the Bible, but they're words that are meant for you personally and You know if you do that if you meditate that way you'll get that medicine in your spirit and it will become medicine to all your flesh Hallelujah This is called focusing on the word instead of on the symptoms and Taking it like medicine Hallelujah, you know when you take the word and you read it again and again, I've used this illustration in the past It's receiving God's Word like you would receive a love letter from somebody and you know I've used this illustration before where if there's a man that's in the military and he's overseas and he's left his family behind and You know, especially in the days when they didn't have the video cameras and the the cell phones and Skype and all of that you didn't have any guarantee you were gonna see your loved ones face and so, you know you're over in the military and your spouse sends you a love letter and You open that letter and you read every word you read every line And then you fold it up and put it in your pocket And you take it out again a little later and read it again And eventually it gets to the place where they have that letter memorized But even though they have it memorized and they could quote it by memory they still want to take that letter out and hold it in their hands and look at it again because there's something about looking at It and reading it with your own eyes that makes the difference and it's the same way with God's Word It's not enough just to have it memorized. We want to open up this Bible. We we want to treasure it I'll tell you when you get thrilled about opening up your Bible. That's when you know, the Word is working for you But if you're doing it as a chore and you're like, oh, I guess I should look at a scripture today You're not quite ready to receive your healing You've got to get to where you're so excited about it You're so thrilled about it where you have such a love Relationship with your father that you can't wait to see what his word says about you Because that's God talking to you you want to hear him talking to you And so I encourage you to open up your Bibles and read those scriptures all the time over and over and over again Because there is something special that happens when you see it with your eyes Now number four in these instructions. It says keep God's Word in the center of your heart in Colossians 316 it says let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom When God's Word is dwelling in us richly or in abundance That's where the wisdom is the wisdom of God is in the word and we want it not just on the pages of our Bible but in our hearts where we can use the wisdom and So this is when we meditate on what we've already read We go about our daily business because we can't just sit and read our Bible day and night I mean all day like 24 hours a day. I would suggest reading it in the morning Maybe if you have a pocket Bible you can carry it with you places and pull out a scripture and read it during the day Read again in the evening some more but in between the times that you're actually reading Now you can meditate you can softly repeat those scriptures back to yourself Kind of like pastor Jeff was saying on Sunday, you know you you at some point You have to just be talking to yourself throughout the day, you know I'll we've been saying this around the house every day. We're going to the other side in victory Every member of our church is going to the other side in victory. I've said it so much. You can't talk me out of it I believe it. We are going to the other side and our words are taking us there It's the same thing with healing scriptures we walk around the house saying he sent his word and healed me therefore I'm healed I thank you Lord for my healing. I thank you that I'm healed father You're so so good to me and you do that throughout the day. You just say it out loud Just softly speak it to yourself and that is part of your meditation So hope I'm encouraging you because this is important You know when you're when you're doing things that require hands-on where it doesn't necessarily require a lot of mental Involvement, you know, whether it's cleaning the house or grocery shopping or things that you can do with your hands yard work It's a perfect opportunity to be speaking God's Word out loud to yourself Just repeat it repeat it over and over again, you know in the Old Testament meditation was big because they didn't have cassettes They didn't have recording devices they didn't have albums or radios or televisions and so if they did not read the word and repeat the word I Mean really throughout most of the New Testament then they wouldn't have a way to meditate or hear the word and so these kinds of Methods have not disappeared with the invention of technology We're supposed to still read it and mutter it and say it out loud to ourselves every day. Amen so we are going to Meditate in God's Word. We're gonna let it dwell in us richly in abundance and Then when we need it, it'll come forth for us out of our spirit man and not just out of our heads So let me lead you tonight Let me lead you in a confession of faith And I know some of you are believing for your the manifestation of your healing Some of you have already received your healing and you're doing great But because this is specifically on the topic of healing tonight, I'm gonna lead you in a confession, you know I know sometimes I stretch my hands out and I pray for everybody but tonight we're just gonna speak the word So I want you to say this with me Heavenly Father. I Thank you that according to your word. I am healed first Peter 2 24 says that by his stripes I Was healed and since I was healed I am healed right now Your word also said that Jesus himself Took my infirmities and bear my sicknesses Because he bore my sicknesses. I refused to bear them Satan take your hands off of my body in Jesus name. I Refuse to bear sickness or pain and According to James you must flee from me now Heavenly Father. I thank you that your word is Powerful medicine and it's working in me right now affecting a healing and a cure in my body I embrace your word I consent and submit to your sayings and your word and Not my symptoms. I give my attention to your word Heavenly Father and I thank you that it's penetrating deeply within my spirit and It is affecting a healing and a cure in my body Now Not tomorrow and next week, but now Your word is a now word and it's healing me right now in Jesus mighty name Hallelujah Praise the Lord.
