Eric discusses the newly released line of Cigars, which honor the Baseball Tampa Smokers Team.
Founded in 1895 by Julius Caeser Newman, J.C. Newman Cigar Company is the oldest family-owned premium cigar maker in America. For four generations and 130 years, J.C. Newman has been handcrafting many of the world’s finest cigars. J.C. Newman is headquartered in an iconic 115-year-old cigar factory in the Ybor City National Historic Landmark District in Tampa, Florida.
At this factory, known as “El Reloj,” J.C. Newman rolls premium cigars both by hand and by hand-operated, antique cigar machines. El Reloj is open to the public on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., although visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive before 3:00 p.m. when cigar rolling stops. Visiting J.C. Newman’s cigar museum, theater, and factory store is free!

This is Al show joined here with Miss
Newman. So tell us about your history
and starting up the you know the
business. Well, thank you. I'm Eric
Newman. I'm third generation. My
grandfather Jason Newman started our
company in Cleveland in
1895. We're 140 years
old before my
age. We moved to Tampa in 1954 to be in
the Scar City. I was only 6 years old at
the time. But Tampa is a scar city just
like baseball is a scar city. It's
interesting that we had we're only six
400 yards from the skating park which is
the birthplace of of Tampa. As far as
baseball is concerned where Lopez used
to play
Russo and it just we're out here
enjoying what's what's great. It started
to rain earlier but 5 minutes before the
event the clouds parted. We're here
enjoying fellowship cigar smoking a
brick house cigar we make in our factory
in Nicaragua. Also I invite you and all
your friends here come in for a factory
tour. We have four tours a day. Trip
visor is Tampa's most popular museum and
you want to be a cigar smoker. Fact have
people come into our museum smokers.
They just want to walk back in time to
see what made Tampa look great 100 years
ago and we're still here. It's like
walking back in time. We invite
everybody to come here. enjoy us some
cigar and I thank you for being part of
here and guy will all be back next year
at this time and we're honored to be the
host here at the Florida Sports Hall of
Fame. Yes. And tell them also about the
peppermint cigar that you can get at
every Major League Baseball stadium.
Well, Tampa Bay Ray's first
sponsor first sponsor. We had a supposed
race cigar bar and crop can field orange
juice was a sponsor. They paid more
money than we did. They got the name of
the building. Okay. We got the cigar
bar. We aren't uh aren't there yet
anymore. We're still at the Arena. The
only cigar bar in Nashville Hockey
League. So, but we did we came out with
a cigar called Smokers that was designed
after the first baseball team here.
Tampa's first professional baseball
team. It I think it went up through the
19 early 1950s. So, we're introducing
that cigar. is going to be available in
uh finer smoke shops around the country
in
a two two months from from now. The
inspiration was Tampa smokers.
Inspiration was Tampa. Again, Tampa and
cigars go hand in
hand. So, hope you enjoy him. Thank you.
