Good morning. It's day 134 of walking and walking and walking and walking and sometimes walking
some more on the Pacific Crest Trail. So I headed out about 6 a.m. It was a little dark still.
Just getting light. I am heading to White Pass
in a couple days to get a ride around the Wildcat Fire. So today the plan is most likely about 22
miles. Hoping to camp near a small lake that's right off the trail and it's a misty, moisty
morning but it's a good one and a great day to be outside. So my knee was hurting a lot yesterday.
It seems to be acquiescing to its job today. Not giving me any trouble so far in the 20 minutes
that I've been hiking. My feet are doing fine. My heels were hurting quite a bit last night but
they're good to go today. So I'm excited about the day and I will keep you posted if anything
interesting happens besides more walking and walking and walking. Now this is a bridge.
No other way to cross unless you want to get wet and I don't want to get wet. Perfect.
Well that was Rambler. We got to hike together for a little bit this morning.
He's taking a break and I'm continuing on. He's a very nice guy. He's from Oregon
and he's almost done. He doesn't have to go back to NorCal like some of us.
And it turns out we both have the same goal for the evening so unless I get there way early
and decide to go on we'll probably be at the same little lake I camp. So that'll be cool.
I like to socialize some on the trail. I don't like to camp in big groups of noisy people.
I do like to meet friends and talk and chat and stuff. Funny story. I stopped at the diggy cat
hole. Ow. Put my pack by the trail as you do and wandered into the woods. I went a little further
than usual because it was a little open and I always have a really good sense of direction. I
got back to the trail and I'm like where the heck is my pack? I walked down the trail,
didn't see it. Walked up the trail, didn't see it. Walked down the trail again even further.
There it was. So I walked a little bit of this trail three times today. Perfect.
I'm at the boundary of the Yakima Indian Reservation. So thank you to the Yakima tribe
are. These seem to be the favorite of the pine cone dropping squirrels. I have not had service
to identify these but I'm also not that great at identifying evergreens. Ponderosa.
Well I know Douglas fir but the Ponderosa, the Jeffrey pine, the uh what other? I know the sugar
pine but there's a few I don't know. So what's this one? Yeah baby. 10 miles by 10 a.m. I was
just hiking along and all of a sudden I looked and I was like oh my gosh I only need 2.7 miles
and I have an hour to do it to get to 10. So I did and now I'm looking for a good place
to take a break. I was hoping to dry out my tent but it's not very um dry right yet or sunny
in a bit maybe. I'm taking a little break laying on a log looking at the fog go through the trees.
It's awesome. I could probably take a nap right now but I gotta keep going.
In goat rocks wilderness. So far it looks just like Oregon but not for long. Not much I know.
There we go. There's Mount Adams. It's almost noon. The sun is out.
I even saw a peak of some other peaks um but too many trees for the moment.
Today I am mourning the demise of my lovely altitude sun hoodie from Outdoor Vitals.
No they did not give it to me. I bought it myself a year and a half ago and I loved it so much
and I wore it on the Colorado Trail and I wore it on this entire trail so far
and finally rubbed a hole right through from my pack. Very sad. It's a sad day.
Okay I'm pretty sure that's Mount St. Helens although not entirely sure
because I didn't think it was so round on top. What do I know? I'll have to look it up.
All right this is the view from my campsite tonight and I went 27 miles exactly
um and I'm tired and I'm hungry. I'm gonna get some food.
Beautiful. Well I'm at camp. I'm set up. I'm happy. I'm hungry. I just ate a piece of pizza,
a bagel and two beef sticks while I was setting up so I need to eat a little more but
oh um I went about I went exactly 27 miles today. Now that's what my watch said so I'll have to
check trail miles but it should be close to that. All right I'm gonna do my journal,
figure out tomorrow and head to bed. Good night. Thanks for watching.
