Arctic Life - A Day in the Polar Night | NORDIC LIFE #15

Here in the north of Finland, way above the arctic circle, we have a time called polar night. And during polar night the sun doesn't rise at all above the horizon. On that time everything is calmer. The darkness settles everything. I really like polar night. There's more to that than just the darkness. Breakfast for the doggos. Rover, eat. Appu always eats. Good morning. It's now about 9 a.m and it's still pitch black dark. But we're heading out to the fells because we want to be outside for the few hours of lightness that we have. Even though the sun doesn't shine there's still light outside. But first we're gonna take Appu to my friend because we're going with skis and she cannot walk in the deep snow because her legs are like this small. So that's what we're gonna do first. But let's go to the polar night. Hey, Appu. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. So windy. And look at my hair. It's all frozen. But look at the sky. Wow. That's just wow. Wow, Chihuahua. This is so fun. to put the fireplace first thing. Because when we are away for a little while the inside temperature as you can see it drops so easily. It's 14.5 Celsius degrees inside. So it's quite chilly. But we have the fireplace. Right, Appu? I couldn't figure out how to wrap this video up so Esa will do it for me. So there it is. This was about polar night. You're eating pulla. I'm eating cinnamon roll. So there it was a polar night. The sun doesn't come on top of the horizon but it's still quite light. That's good. Thank you. I think that's the end of the story. Right, Appu? I think we're gonna go outside now with the dogs and stay then inside for the rest of the night.
