If you do not get a lot of shipping in your home, you can definitely find cardboard at
the Dollar Tree office aisle. I love using this. It's also thin enough that you can make
really easy crafts and I cannot wait to show you what I did. So the first thing I want to do is I
want to open up the box because it does come closed and then you have a nice clean slate.
This is my favorite blade knife and anytime I work with cardboard or foam board I always
highlight it because it's so good and it's great for your grip. I do have it on my Amazon store if
want to check it out. I printed this star in a 7 inch size. I'm just going to cut off the excess
paper around it and then I'm going to trace it using my tracing tool. I normally use this with
carbon paper which you definitely can do but I thought I'm just going to use it and kind of just
make dents with it. I'm going to use my ruler to kind of keep those lines nice and straight
and then once I have it outlined I'm just going to use my blade knife to cut it out.
Then I'm going to use that one trace it so that I can have a second star in the same size.
Now that I have both stars nicely cut we're going to use some craft paper. This is from a
Christmas crafting book that I found at Michael's years ago. I'm going to trace each star and I'm
just going to then make it and cut it into a smaller size star. So I'm just once I have a
trace I'm going to make little dots and this is just so that I know where to trace the line
because I want the star to match the design of the original size and then I did the same thing
on the other star. I'm going to cut them and the plan is to attach them on top of the cardboard
stars and this is how it should fit just about maybe a quarter of an inch inside the star.
All right so now we're going to mod podge the back of the craft paper and we are going to let
that dry. This is a newer technique that I learned to use so I'm just going to add a layer on both
stars put it to the side underneath a fan and then let it dry. While they're drying I'm just
going to line the edges of the cardboard using some paint. I'm just going to use this little
spatula. You can also use little wedges. Whatever you have would work. I want to add dimension and
also take away that cardboard look from the edges. So once I had it I'm just going to let
them dry and then here's what the stars look like. The mod podge is all dried up. We're going to place
it right in the center. We're going to add parchment paper on top and we're just going to iron it. I'm
using my little mini press but you can use an iron if you have that. I also have a small little iron
similar to this one in my Amazon store. Again it is linked down below. So just like that it is nicely
attached. No bubbles and I'm going to do the same thing on the second one and it's like magic. I love
using this technique. All right so I completely forgot to film the next portion but I'm going to
show you. So I added these little frosted pigs with little frosted berries to this one right
there on the left side and then on the other one I added regular red berries with a little greenery
pig on the left side and then on the back so that we can hang it I added this baker's twine
jute string kind of look. I hot glued it and taped it. I'm sorry I missed that footage but it was not hard
to do just hot glue it and I think these turned out absolutely gorgeous. I love making ornaments
and using cardboard is such an easy and inexpensive way to do it. What do you think of this one?
My friends I'm so excited because today's video is in collaboration with these wonderful creators
hosted by Shannon from the Cozy Christmas Cottage. I'm sure you know her. I'm sure you know many of
these creators. We are joining together to bring you tons of Christmas inspiration.
If you want to watch more if you want to get to know these creators there is a link to the playlist
in the description box so when you're done watching make sure you go check it out. For this next
Albatry DIY craft we're going to take these printouts that I found online and I just printed
them with my regular printer and I printed them in five inch height and then the star or the cookie
in five inch. I'm going to trace them and then in this time I am going to use my exacto knife instead
of my blade knife. The cuts are a little bit more intricate I guess and just smaller and so using my
exacto knife really worked but here's the thing you want to make sure it's really really sharp
so be careful and and just have fun. I like this process actually. I sped it up because you know
how to cut. Once cut I'm just going to use my nail filer. I'm just going to sand down those edges to
smooth them out so they're not so sharp and then I'm going to take the printouts that I printed from
the web and I'm just going to mimic the design that I already have but I'm going to use my white acrylic
marker. This is just a paint marker and it's really good and I do have them in my Amazon store as well
if you want to check them out. I'm just going to do the little face and all the little details that each
Of course you can make as many as you want. I'm going to do the same thing I did earlier. We're
just going to trace all the outline with paint just scraping it on. This is Waverly Talkman in
the white and I'm going to do that again just to create dimension and add a little bit of
character. Then I decided to add a little bit of mod podge right where all the circles are so the
buttons the eyes and then on the little snowflake cookie and I'm going to add snowflakes just faux
snowflakes that have a little bit of a glittery feel to it or look and so I thought adding this
will add dimension texture and it made it look a little puffy which I loved and then it also
attached a little bit on the edges because some of the paint was still wet. I'm just going to dust off
all of that snow and it's so fun. Of course you can add color to these as well you can add red
whatever you want. Now we are going to make these into ornaments so I'm going to take some
pipe cleaners. I'm going to take this one cut it into threes. We're just going to twist it and hot
glue it to each back. This would be an amazing craft to do as a family with girlfriends with
your kids. How fun are these? Again the possibilities are endless when it comes to working with cardboard.
These are adorable. What do you think of this one? Of course let me know down in the comments.
For this next solitary DIY craft we're going to take another piece of the cardboard we're
going to cut it nice and straight and then we're going to freehand what will look like
a Christmas light or a large Christmas ornament and we're just going to make it kind of oval
and then we're going to square cut the top. I'm going to using my blade knife for this one as well
because it's just easier for these longer straight cuts. Now the top we are going to cut like this
again this is going to be a ornament style one. We're going to use the same technique we used
earlier which we're just going to add mod podge to the entire surface except we're not going to
do that at the top. We're going to spread it evenly and we're going to put it under a fan
so it dries nice and successfully and there it is nice and dry. Now we're going to take
wrapping paper you can use any design of wrapping paper you have at home. I love crafting with
wrapping paper. We're just going to place it right there and we're going to place parchment paper and
then iron it and it does attach really quick. You don't have to iron it for long and then attaches
so nicely no bubbles. I love it. All right so we're going to sand down those edges to make sure
they're going to be nice and smooth and also create a nice little white border which I think
it's really cool for dimension. Now for the top portion I want to keep it kind of glamorous I guess
if you have silver ribbon you can use that as well and I'm just going to use this golden one
because it's what I have. I'm just going to add a little bit hot glue and I'm going to layer it
three times. It is pretty sheen like you can see through it so one was not enough in my opinion
although it looks real pretty here in the video but in reality you can see a lot of the cardboard
so I stacked two and then three to really give it that fullness that I was looking for. A little hot
glue went a long ways and of course I trimmed as needed. I'm going to add some embellishment to the
upper left hand corner this was leftover from last Christmas season. You can see that I used it from
another project. I'm just going to hot glue it right there in a tilted motion and then we're
going to add some frosted berries and then some red pigs and then the little golden ornament just to
add and complement and bring everything together and then of course we want to add some jute string
to the back. You can also use a pipe cleaner. I'm going to hot glue and tape it so that we can hang
this one and it is so cute. Oh my gosh you can make multiples of these you can make round ones
you can make whatever you want this will look great on a large wall but what do you think?
For this next solitary DIY craft we're going to take another piece of the cardboard and we're
just going to round up the top portion. Just round it up you're going to see here in just a minute
we're going to use my blade knife to cut off the excess. Then at the bottom we're going to square
it up just a little bit and create little legs because this is going to be a letters to Santa
little mailbox. Oh my gosh I can't wait for you to see it. So I'm going to cut off the bottom again
this is going to look like little legs. Now you can paint this if you'd like. I decided to use
red vinyl because it's so much easier let me tell you it's easier. I'm just going to attach it and
make sure that there are no bubbles or at least as little amount of bubbles as possible and I
tried sanding it down it was not working as good because it is cardboard so I couldn't press down
a lot. So I'm just going to use my exacto knife to cut off the excess and then I'm going to sand down
to smooth down the edges. Now we're going to take another piece of cardboard we're going to cut a
piece that's seven by five and we're just going to cut that and we're going to cover that with
vinyl again this one's going to be golden and glittery style these are all from Dollar Tree by
the way these vinyls are great for crafting. Once again we're going to cut off the excess with the
exacto knife and then we are going to sand down to make sure it's nice and smooth and then we're
going to attach it to the front bottom of the mailbox. All right so now we're going to take my ruler
and we're just going to take some of these Dollar Tree letters and we're going to start spelling
the phrase letters to Santa. I did the best I can these letters were a little larger than what I
thought so they look a little squished if you have a Cricut and you can size them more appropriately
that would be perfect or make the mailbox a little bigger. We're going to add this little window cling
Santa right there and then we're going to make a little little swag for the top just to add a
texture and a little bit of decor so we're going to tie it in the center and then we're just going
to hot glue it right there we're going to make a little swag adding hot glue the greenery picks
with the berries and then the bow right there on top and then just to finish it all we're going to
add more frosted berries to the top of the bow and we're going to make a little tiny swag right
there next to Santa right there and we're going to add hot glue and one extra berry and that's it
I gotta tell you this one's such a large craft I love it it will great on a mantle console table
love the way it looks what do you think let me know down in the comments. I want to thank Shannon
