Doug Whaley Sr. Vice President of Player Personnel Talks Opportunity in XFL & the Championship Game!

all right Doug so we're doing great now we're at the Alamo Dome so we got a big game coming up what are your thoughts about the fact that this game came about in the first year of the XL season well I tell you this much it is uh it's a relief uh we have been working at this some for two to three years me personally I was in XFL 2.0 that got shut down by covet so to see the finality of it is of just a great relief for the work that you put in but also for the amount of effort that people all the way from the top from ownership all the way to the players all that effort to culminate in a championship and somebody be crowned this first XFL Champion that's just it's words cannot describe how special it is and it's a sense of accomplishment yeah I mean it is a sense of accomplishment for the players talk about them making it this far to this championship game I tell you this much all kudos to them because there's they're in that kind of Dead Space where they don't know where they want to go or where their profession can take them so for us to give them opportunity to live out their dream to be professional athletes in the sport that they've been participating in some probably since five six years old and to be able to have a chance to raise a trophy and be called Crown the champion some people never get that opportunity and for them to be able to get that opportunity at XFL we think it's special and we appreciate their efforts yeah and I think one thing that is really special that 50 plus players are been now invited to the NFL you have tryouts talk about that opportunity and and that's what we're all about it's a league of opportunity and we want to be able to give these guys a springboard to be able to reach their ultimate goal some of it's the NFL and some of it's just playing a professional league so to shine the light and exposure by the NFL by offering our guys some tryouts and I'm sure some more will hopefully get signed or in for workouts after this game because most of the better players are going to be on the on these two teams because of some of the best teams but it shows you the depth of talent that we have have in our league to have over 50 players get invited to NFL training any mini camps excuse me yeah and finally weekend and fans expect to see on tomorrow's night game oh it's it's going to be an exciting game because you have two teams you can have a really good story line HBCU coach Reggie Barlow 9-1 they've been steamrolling all their opponents in the XFL all year against the Hall of Fame coach and Bob Stoops they struggled out the gate they made an in-season trade for Luis Perez they've started to hit their stride so is it a team of Destiny against the Giants that have been there or the Defenders that have been there being Giants in the XFL for All Season appreciate it thank you thank you
