From being a 10 year old making random tennis videos in his bedroom, to meeting my idol, Rafael Nadal.
For years, you've seen the matches, you've heard my voice, but you've never seen me until today.
Hi, this is me Weevo, owner of the channel. I wanted to make this video for years,
but I've always waited for the perfect moment, like, I'd wait when I have the perfect studio,
when I have the perfect lightning, but here I am in my humble room,
with the help of one of my friends, to make this happen. So this is me, and here's my story.
I fell in love with the game at a very young age, I used to watch it with my dad all the time,
I was just, I think, 10 years old, and like many of us, this little guy from Mallorca got me
completely hooked with the game. I created this channel a long time ago, back in 2010,
just before Twitter and Facebook, there was always these forums people keep using,
and one day, there is this famous Tuina Rafa hit in an exhibition against Gaske,
and people were looking for it everywhere. So I got this little clip, and I sent it to them,
and one of the guys asked me, how did you get this clip, or what did you use to edit this video?
And I told him I used Windows Movie Maker. He made fun of me, he told me, oh, I thought,
damn, you're a noob, I thought you were a professional. And as a 12 year old back then,
this made me extremely angry. So I said, okay, now I'm gonna see what's the hardest stuff to
learn, and I'm gonna start making videos. So I downloaded Sony Vegas, and I started making
videos. So I posted my first video, and it actually got an incredible amount of love.
Many people loved it. I used the music from Assassin's Creed. Some of you, maybe from the
very old days, might remember that. And then I kept making videos. I had this little Rafa Nadal
HD series, where I made Rafa HD1, HD2, until HD20. And in 2010, I think this was the best
year of my life. Rafa winning three Grand Slams, everything going great, life going great. And then
in 2011, that was the best day of my life. I broke my hand earlier in the day, we were playing some
football with friends. And then I went home, I saw a lot of messages from my friends on Facebook,
and my email inbox is exploding. And then I saw that Rafa shared one of my videos, and everyone
calling me lucky, he shared it on Facebook. Best moment of my life. And it gave me an incredible
passion to keep going forward. A few months later, I wake up one day, and I find out that every video
on my channel has been blocked. Every single one, it was like 150 videos, everything was gone.
So then I completely gave up. I had like 4,500 subscribers, which was a lot for a tennis channel.
I couldn't get the video back. It had a million views. Imagine a million views on a tennis
montage back in 2011. This was huge. So I completely gave up, I completely stopped.
My dad bought us PlayStation 3, so I got a little into gaming, got into FIFA, Uncharted, and
Dark Souls, best game ever. And then I completely forgot about this content creation.
Then in 2016, one of my friends, you might know him, his name is Valzy, he had a great YouTube
channel, he had a feathered channel. And he told me that he started making videos because of me,
and I should come back, you know, why did you stop? I make a lot of money from this, I make $25 a day.
And then I thought, wow, I was in college and $25 a day, this is a huge amount of money. If I can
make this amount of money, I'm set up for life. So I started coming back again. I remember my first
video got, I think 88 views in the first 24 hours. I think it got one comment from one of my friends,
and that was it. So I started again, making more videos, minimum one or two videos a day
until this day. So years flew by. I think it was 2019 when I graduated from college.
I went to an engineering college, got a degree with great grades, actually.
I never liked the place, I never studied, but I did this for mom and dad, they wanted,
you know, they said, okay, the YouTube thing is good, but it's giving you a lot of headaches
with copyrights, and you're always worried the video is going to get taken down.
So you need something sustainable. And your sister is an engineer,
it's a good idea. I never actually worked with the degree I had, but it was good in a way,
it was fun in a way. I learned a lot of things from college, actually. And you know, after college,
I knew that I have to do one year of mandatory military service. Problem is when COVID came,
we had to stay an entire year at home, then I had to go do the military service. So it was like
two years gone by completely. But during that period, I always kept working whenever I had
time off, I always kept working. We were in 2020, I think in October, five months into the service,
this was actually the hardest week of my life. I just got back from a week off and
my dad calls me, I think it was Saturday, and I would stay there for 14 days. So in these two
weeks, I had my best friend was getting engaged, and my other best friend was getting married.
And I had no idea how I'm gonna manage any of them. I told them 99%, I'm not gonna make it.
So dad calls me on Saturday, he tells me in two days, he's gonna have a big surgery in his back.
I mean, his back has been hurting since I guess, 2003. I was always, you know, close with him in
regards to his health. And I know he's been suffering for it for years. It was not to the
a panic attack. I couldn't, I didn't know what to do. Like, okay, he has my brother,
my little brother, he has my mom, he has my big sister, but you know, I had to be there. So one
of my friends in the military see me and he told me that, okay, let's talk to one of the big
officers or something, maybe he will understand. So we went to talk to him and he, the guy was
actually great. He let me have the rest of the week off. I went, I did the surgery with my dad,
surgery went great. And if you remember that time, the French Open was played in October
because of COVID and Rafa had to play in October. And when the final came with Djokovic, many of us
thought that, okay, this is the time Djokovic could actually beat Nadal because the conditions
will always favor him. But yeah, I really wanted to see that match. So in the time off, after the
surgery, I went to my first friend's engagement and then I went back to the military. I went to
one of the officers, I told him, you know, dad has to go to physiotherapy. Please let me go for
two, three hours. And I went there and we saw the match, Rafa played the greatest final of his life.
And then I went back, I stayed for another week and then I got home and I attended my
other friend's wedding. I mean, it was a complete mess. Like, you know, dad has a surgery,
my friends, one's getting engaged and one's getting married. And of course the most important
one is Rafa playing Novak in the French Open final. So yeah, a few months later, military was
over. This chapter of my life was over. And I thought, thank God I have this incredible life
ahead of me. Just, I think a few days later, my sister got married, so everything was going great.
And then my dad started getting sick. We didn't really know what was going on with him. I mean,
overall health started declining. No one knew what was wrong with him. Four months into this
many doctors, and then we figured out he had ALS, which is basically like the worst disease anyone
could ever get. And then I think life took a complete dark turn and it didn't take long. I
dad was gone, you know, he passed away and, you know, it still hurts. And if you have any person
dealing with this disease, I think you should really stick to their side because it's the
worst thing ever. I mean, it affected dad everywhere. I think the hands, the legs, everything.
So yeah, thankfully, even before he died, thankfully he wasn't in the worst case possible,
in the worst shape possible. You could still talk to him, you could still understand what he wanted.
But then, yeah, life went on. A few months later, I think I got this 100k play button. I'll show it
on the screen since it's in my sister's house. I don't have it here. And when I went to see
Ronaldo in the World Cup, I think it was a great experience to see him, but it was horrible,
the things he was going through in this period. But yeah, it was my first time going out of Egypt.
It was great. And I kept on working on this channel, 2023, 2024. And then they said Nadal
is coming to Saudi Arabia. And this is a place really close to our hearts. The second I know,
and the second the tickets came out, I got a ticket for the semi-final against Djokovic,
and I got a ticket for the final. And just a few days later, he announced his retirement.
When he got injured during Roland Garros, I knew that he's probably not coming back because
not many videos of him training. I think it was bound to happen. Not as shocking as the
one with Federer, but this one was, I think, equally as bad. So yeah, I went to Saudi to see
Rafa. And I met a lot of people there. A lot of people actually recognized me. It was just
a great surprise. I took pictures with many people. Yeah, one of the guys told me that Rafa
stays in this hotel, and he actually managed to sneak in a picture with him. It was a great picture.
So I woke up the next day. I think it was the match day with Djokovic. I went to the hotel at
10 a.m., stayed for like three, four hours. Then all of a sudden, Rafa came down from the elevator.
You know, I picked the best seat in the hotel. One with, I mean, in the middle between the
elevator and the stairs. So if he is going to take the stairs, I'm going to be the first one
there. If he's going to take the elevator, I'm going to be the first one there too.
I met Rafa, and I actually had this printed paper. Maybe I'll show it on the screen since
I don't have it now. And I think I printed like seven or eight copies of this picture. I said,
if I meet his dad, I'm going to give it to him. If I meet the physio, the coach, Moya, anyone.
I met all of them, but I think Maimou, his physio, it was the one I gave him the paper.
And I highly doubt he gave it to Rafa. Maybe he threw it in the trash. I don't know.
Maimou, if you see this video, I'm going to know. I actually forgot to say that when my dad was
sick, I think that was the worst year of my life. But the only happy moment in that year was when
Rafa beat Medvedev in that legendary 2022 Australian Open final. Probably the best
moment of my life, honestly. I made him a video. I stayed, I think, what, 72 hours awake to get
this video done. I think it's the video closest to my heart. So the paper I printed, I told him
about that video. I told him, I don't want anything. I just want you to see this video,
like the one you shared before. This one has equal emotions. But I couldn't give him the paper.
The place was empty, but then all of a sudden, 50 people crowded him. So I just managed to take
this picture. And people told me he didn't like to take pictures of anyone. And I mean,
the guy was completely depressed. I think he had a lot on his mind with all the pressure and then
having to retire in the Davis Cup. But they did great by him in Saudi with the golden racket. It
was a great gesture. I mean, if someone deserves this racket, it's the guy who has never broken
the racket in his entire life. It was a great day. I went to see him live. Later in the day,
again, it's Djokovic. Incredible feeling. I mean, anyone who actually managed to catch Rafa
playing, you're the luckiest ever.
A great day, an incredible atmosphere. I had more fun in this tournament,
even more than the World Cup, honestly. Because, you know, tennis is our sport. Yes,
I like football. Yes, I'm obsessed with football in a way, but not as much as tennis at all.
I also saw Al-Karaz in Senna. I managed to take a photo with Senna mid-video.
And it was great. Like, the experience was incredible. And actually, I'm going
again this year. You might want to stay tuned for that. So, this was my story. I don't want
this video to be too long, but moving forward, I want to show my face more, give you more different
type of content. And next week, I'm going to Riyadh once again to attend the Six Kings Slam
tournament. Hopefully, get you some exclusive content, some different perspectives, some behind
the scenes. So, make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram. I'll leave the links in the
description. And yeah, on a final note, I want to really thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.
You allowed me to live the dream of working with something I love. I really love this sport. I
really want to share more of it. I'll try to bring you more, give you more entertainment,
hopefully. And I will see you in the next video. Stay safe.
