I'm starting to clear. Got that tip, get up and trim it.
That's it right there.
It don't get any better than that.
Repetition from my chest, that's a bench press.
Seeing more behind the frame, future driver feel the shake.
Thinking ain't nobody feel the way I do, but someone gotta feel the same.
On the bright side.
Yeah, this music here became my only lifeline.
Think I'm going crazy, I'm not in my right mind.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my life.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my...
So today Colin's doing some lessons on his kicking and kickoff and maybe even some punting.
We'll wait and see, but we are less than a month away from season opening.
Colin's going to be a sophomore this year, the starting kicker for Benjamin Russell.
And look, we're just trying to fine tune. We've done some Coles kicking stuff.
Today we're doing a lesson with a guy that used to play at one of the local high schools.
He's now playing in college.
So we came down here to Faulkner University.
We're going to get a few tips, a few pointers, just maybe a few things that we can adjust
to help Colin be a little more consistent, a little more accurate,
maybe a little bit more power in his kicks.
Really anything, any kind of little takeaway we can get, we will take and utilize that.
Again, just trying to get better.
Colin's trying to be the best kicker he can be.
So we're trying to get as much feedback, as much wisdom as we possibly can.
I mean, I'm learning, but I'm still new to the whole kicking thing.
So I'll continue to learn so I can help him.
But right now we're going to these people that have more expertise, more experience.
All right, Colin, let's go get better.
Hopefully some of you kickers out there, you can learn some of this.
Maybe this will help you be the best kicker you can be.
Set up, right?
Staying almost closed off.
And what I'm noticing is that is your right arm or your left arm has got to swing open.
You're coming through, I want to see here.
Push that door open.
Get that chest to get through to clear.
Get that hip to get up and through it.
I don't want you to exaggerate.
Get that arm up and through.
And try to jump.
Okay?
Now go on your toes and jump.
You can jump on your toes, right?
You're on your heels.
You have no power momentum, okay?
First, you're here just on your one step.
I want you to be almost leaning forward.
Like, I want all your momentum to be carrying at that plant spot.
I want you to attack that plant spot right here.
The power is so much better.
And that ball is struck so much cleaner.
Not bad.
I think I just did a bad carry trying.
Right here, okay?
I don't want you to finish on the inside of it or the outside of it.
Anywhere here.
Feet. Feet, don't.
I'm not going to finish anywhere.
I want to go toward the upright.
This step is a little short.
A shorter step.
If we're trying to get here to get through,
a shorter step stays everything open and pulls it toward left.
Stay tall. Finish down here.
I think you're a little bit too close to the ball.
Yeah, I think you're a hair too close.
Yes.
That is beautiful.
I think you can start a little more on the right side.
Yes, that's it right there.
It doesn't get any better than that.
The strike was amazing.
The hit was really good.
Not bad.
I want to scrape.
Yes.
Stay there. Everything stay open.
All right, look. Look where you left this point.
Hey, yep, yep.
Yep. Perfect.
Glad you noticed that.
A plant spot?
I feel like it was too close.
Yeah.
It wasn't a badly struck ball.
Just when we stepped too close, it forced everything to hunch over.
We can't get our hips to get through.
Get back to where you're standing.
I want you to come back over here.
Just set up normally.
When you attack the plant spot, okay?
Everything stays down this line here.
Okay?
We have a clear shot of where our plant spot is going.
If we attack the football and we're lined up there,
we step here and back over here.
Our margin for error is this small.
When we go in our straight line and attack that plant spot,
we're going after right here.
Your plant foot, when you're lined up at your spot,
should be attacking that spot.
It's the same line over and over again.
Where you're able to clear that hip through and get downfield.
It wasn't a bad ball.
It might not have been your best, but you got three points.
Your margin for error is wider when you're able to do little stuff like that.
And then you hit the hurdle at the end.
It's because you're able to extend that.
We used to put those tackling dummies in front of the block, right?
We'd have to clear it.
We'd have to jump over the hurdle.
It's got to go.
You can't just be here and let it go all the way through.
So I just want to see the steps first.
A little too short with our plant.
That's not a bad ball at all.
You're at the five-yard line.
That's beautiful.
Any coach in the world would take that.
I just think I can go farther than that.
One more.
You're already short.
There we go.
Scraped it a little bit.
Still at the ten-yard line.
It's going to naturally tail back to the left even more.
So start it at that window.
It doesn't get any better than that.
Four-yard line.
Outside the numbers.
Nobody catches it.
I guarantee you if he catches that ball,
if they're set up on the hash or just outside of it,
he's going to try to catch that.
And to ensure he catches that,
you need it a hair higher.
It's going to want him to catch it.
If you drive it more,
a little closer inside,
see that birch tree in front of the white window?
Once you get inside of it,
you go at that,
it keeps it straighter.
Oh, yeah.
Take that hook.
Every time I take that right there.
You're at the bottom of the numbers,
12-yard line.
You have wind in your face too.
Yes.
I'll take that.
The ball strike was good.
Strike was beautiful.
Just ended up a hair left.
Absolutely.
I'll take that every time.
When you're fighting the wind,
I'll take that every single time.
It wasn't your best ball,
but it's a consistent ball
you can hit over and over again.
Subscribe.
My man, Murf Squad.
Let's go.
Shout out to the boys.
