OCTOBER FALL-O-WEEN HOME! 🍂 autumn in a pot, cozy decorating, diy ghosts

Hello, it's Becca, and welcome to my little autumn farmhouse on the northern plains of Iowa. This afternoon, I'll be spending time mainly in my kitchen bringing a touch of cottage-style Halloween charm into our home. I'll also be making a fall simmer pot on the stove, doing a few simple DIYs, lighting candles, setting out pumpkins, and just adding those small heartwarming touches that makes this season feel extra special. And this is a two-part series, so as far as the Halloween decorating goes, so in my next video, I'll be finishing the decorating, and then you'll get to see the final outcome of everything. So as always, I'm so glad you're here with me today. I hope all is well, and so glad you've stopped by for a visit here at my home, the Carrot House. So going to go ahead and light a few more candles, then I'll be heading out to my garden to gather the last of the marigolds and sage for the autumn simmer pot. So for the autumn simmer pot, I am just filling a small pot of water, a little over halfway, and then I'll add the fresh sage and the beautiful orange marigolds, and then I'll add some dried spices. So star anise, or star anise, I believe is the correct way of saying it, spicy cloves of cinnamon sticks. It wouldn't be autumn time without those. But the combination of the fresh herbs and flowers along with the dried spices is just a wonderful combination, and it makes your kitchen smell heavenly. I usually do one, or a simmer pot, usually a couple times for every season. But yeah, just get the pot to a simmer on the lowest heat, and just make sure to check on the water to make sure it's not getting too low. ♪♪♪ So I wanted to take a minute and tell you a little bit about these ghosts. I think I bought them at HomeGoods a long time ago, but initially they were part of a garland. But it would always somehow fall down, and cause my fireplace, or my cats would start pulling the garland down. So I ended up cutting the garland, making the ghosts more individual. I think last year I put them in a little bowl. You can get really creative with them. But this year I'm adding little clothespins to them. Cleaning them up a little bit by removing some of the frayed string on the edges, and clipping them on the little leaves on the tree. So I'm gonna go ahead and finish this, and then we'll move on to something else. ♪♪♪♪ So after a long day of decorating, and just simply cleaning and caring for my home, it can be a lot of work, so I decided to put on my Thermo Red heating pad, belt massager from Bob and Brad, and I absolutely love it.
