This is why I don't leave the house.
Terrifying out there.
Hello, good morning.
Let's spend the day together.
I'm just about to head off and do the school run.
So we're going to do that and then we're going to bob through to York
and go to Marks and Spencer's because I have some stuff that I need to return
and we'll probably do a little bit of an M&S shop
and have a little mooch at the home where they've got in at the moment
because I think they should be starting to get their Christmas stuff in.
I've got the car loaded up, ready to go.
Just waiting for honey to go to the toilet and then we're going to head off.
After you, madam.
Do you wish you were in this video?
We were a little bit late this morning.
So we were doing the walk of shame because if you're late,
then they shut the gate and you've got to go through the office.
But when you've got to go, you've got to go.
Your honey's sleeping over my mom and dad's tonight.
So me and Eddie are going to have a little bit of a date night.
So I need to have a think.
We're going to stay in and I think I'm going to cook something nice.
So I need to have a little bit of a think about what I want to cook
before we get to the supermarket.
Otherwise, I'll just wander around aimlessly and buy way more food than I need to.
I was thinking of making like a nice chicken, spinach, garlicky, creamy pie situation
because it's autumn and it's getting colder and I don't know, feels like comfort food.
So I think maybe something like that.
And as well, because I like one pot recipes or minimal cleanup, basically.
But basically, my mom and dad are moving back to New Zealand.
If you don't know, I grew up in New Zealand and my mom and dad are moving back to New Zealand.
They're going to try and have honey one night a week if they can before they go.
So that's nice for honey because she likes staying there and she likes them.
Obviously, they're her grandparents.
She loves them.
So anyway, that will be nice to have an evening with Eddie tonight.
He's actually just texted me and he said that he wants something.
What does he say?
He fancies something maybe like Mexican or something.
So let's get going because the day is quickly running away with us.
So
or this one.
I don't like the pot as much, but I really like the plant on this one.
So I can't say between the two.
And it's to go in my office on my new shelf above my computer.
This is tricky.
Do have this one at home.
And I actually have two of these because I love it so much.
And I think it looks so realistic when you've got it displayed.
And the pot on it, it's OK, but I just really like the plant on this one.
So
I feel like I did pretty good in there because there was a lot of things that I wanted to buy.
I didn't.
So I showed restraint.
I did.
However, I didn't show as much restraint when we were in the food hall.
I got the triple chocolate cookies, which are my favorite cookies ever.
They are so good.
If you haven't tried them, you absolutely need to.
And then I got Eddie.
Is it peanut butter, jelly, Christmas like mix thing?
Because we saw it the other day on, I think I saw it on Instagram.
And I sent it to him and I was like, this is right up your street.
So I'm going to surprise him with that because he'll be very happy with that.
I'm trying to eat healthy at the moment, but sometimes it doesn't go to plan.
Anyway, let's get home and get the shopping put away.
We're home.
I'm going to pop the shopping away now.
And then I do need to tidy the kitchen as usual because
for some reason it just turns into a dumping ground.
I haven't even put away Honey's bowl from her cereal.
That's how quickly we had to leave the house this morning.
I am going to start a new audio book while we get some jobs done.
We are going to start Silver Cloak by LK Stephen.
I think is where we're going to go next.
It's a little bit dark.
I'm going to pop this lamp on.
That's nice.
That's better.
I'm just waiting for my audio book to download and then we will get started.
So LK Stephen is Laura Stephen, the author of Our Infinite Fates,
which I've done a reading vlog for before.
And I rated that five stars.
I loved that.
So I'm very interested to see what this story is like,
because I feel like her gorgeous writing will probably be transferred into this.
And I know that this is quite unique and it has quite a unique magic system.
I think it's like a pain pleasure thing.
So I'm very excited to get into this and see what it's all about.
I don't know how heavy it is on the romance, but I'm not too bothered.
I've read quite a lot of romance recently.
So I feel like I've had my fill.
I'm just waiting for it to download.
Come on.
When I was at Marks and Spencer's, this woman hit me with her trolley and I was like,
oh, and she didn't say sorry or anything.
She just, she just walked up and I was like,
do you know when you're just like in shock?
Like what just happened?
And it's definitely going to bruise.
It was like right in my calf.
Maybe she didn't know she hit me,
but I think she got annoyed because I was stood looking at the desserts,
not for like ages, but I was thinking about what I was going to get.
And I made sure there was room in front of me so people could go in front.
But she sort of like went in front of me quite aggressively and got what she wanted.
I mean, she obviously knew what sweet treat she wanted and she was just set on her goal.
When she was turned, she like pushed a trolley like that and then went off.
And I was like, oh, oh yeah.
So I'm expecting a bruise on my leg.
Scary place out in the wild.
This is why I don't leave the house.
It's terrifying out there.
Right.
It's downloaded.
Silver Cloak by LK Steven.
I am so excited to start this.
So let's get some jobs done.
I didn't get loads.
I pretty much just got something for Eddie and I to have for tea tonight,
which was the burritos that I'm going to make.
So I got some mints and I've got loads of seasoning.
So I'll just make my own burrito for heat seasoning to go with the mints.
I'll probably cook it with some onions as well.
And then I've got some beef tomatoes and a red onion to do a pico de gallo.
I got Mexican inspired rice, sour cream, salsa.
I do have some peppers that need using.
So I might do some fresh peppers on the side as well because I love fresh peppers.
Eddie likes them cooked.
So I might cook some for him.
I'll see how I feel later.
See if I feel like doing more work.
Some grated cheese to go on the burritos.
Wraps, of course.
I got some just plain sausages because the M&S plain sausages are so good.
And the other week Eddie made toad in the hole and it was really good.
And so I got these hoping that maybe tomorrow he'll do
toad in the hole for me and honey with some peas and sweet corn stuff.
Because I've already got all that.
So we just didn't have any sausages.
So I thought if I get some, then I can be like, please.
When Eddie and I first got together, I don't think he'd ever cooked like a meal in his life.
And now it's since we had honey, really.
He's really like gotten into cooking, I think, because we've got our own space
and he can enjoy like the learning process
and just like throwing things together and seeing what happens.
Because that's how I cook, to be fair.
I don't really ever follow recipes.
And if I do, I don't really stick to them properly.
But one thing he cooks all the time is spaghetti bolognese.
Like that is all he ever wants to cook, to be honest.
So recently he's started doing Yorkshire puddings and he's really good at Yorkshire puddings.
So that is why I want him to make them again.
But anyway, I got some grapes
because all the grapes I found at the other supermarkets recently have all been really small.
And I don't like a small grape.
I like a big, fat, juicy grape like these.
So I am going to wash these and put them in the freezer
because we all know I love frozen grapes.
It's my favourite snack.
And then I got some watermelon because I love watermelon.
And again, I was just craving it.
And so this was reduced to clear.
And I thought, well, I can eat this today.
And of course we have the cookies.
I actually might treat myself to one in a minute once I put the shopping away.
OK, and then this is the peanut butter jelly mixing that I was telling you about that I got for Eddie.
Should we open it and see what it looks like?
Maybe, maybe we sample it.
He won't mind.
He is going to absolutely love this.
He loves like peanut things.
Anything like peanut butter or anything like that, he loves.
Oh, wow.
So it all comes in little individual bags and you open the bags and you tip it and you mix it.
That's so cool.
Oh, there's little peanut butter cups.
Oh, he is going to go crazy for this.
The jelly bits.
And then we've got in here pretzels.
Let me see.
What does it actually say?
Pretzels, coated popcorn, salted caramel flavour, white chocolate coated peanuts.
Sugar coated milk chocolate and white chocolate covered mold balls.
But I'll just show you what I got for pudding and then we'll mix them.
I got these two chocolate fondant puddings.
This is probably my favourite kind of dessert.
I think like a melt in the middle chocolate lava cake thing.
And then I got some custard to have with it because Eddie loves custard and I love him.
So that is what we're having for pudding.
And I just got some milk, but I really want to see what this looks like all mixed together.
And then I can give it to Eddie all ready for him to eat.
I just know that this is literally going to last five minutes for him.
And I think it was quite expensive.
I think it was like, this might have been like £10, you know.
Let's mix it up.
Oh, yeah, that looks so good.
I can't wait to give this to him later.
Should we just sample a little bit and just make sure that it's safe to eat?
I'm going to grab one of the little peanut butter cups.
Jelly.
It just says fruit flavoured jelly, but...
You're probably meant to eat this a bit more mixed together, but...
Popcorn?
That is so good.
He is going to love that.
Bless him.
Right, I need to put the shopping away.
And then I have some towel samples to show you that have arrived.
This is really bad, and I don't condone doing this, but I'm quite bad for it.
I haven't had anything to eat yet today.
So this is my breakfast, technically, and it is lunchtime.
But I am terrible for skipping breakfast.
Something I really want to try and make a conscious effort to not do,
because apparently breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Okay, so towel samples.
If you've been here for a little while, you'll know that the pretty much last room
we have to fully renovate, like, still a lot of the spaces need touching up
and, like, further styling.
And finishing off, the ensuite in our room is completely bare plaster.
No floors, no...
Like, well, the plumbing's there, but nothing is plumbed in.
It's just a naked room.
That is the project I'm currently working on, but I have been really struggling.
And I should have got this sorted ages ago,
but I'm really struggling to decide on the tiles.
Like, normally, I'm quite set on what I want, and I do know the vibe I want,
but there's also so many different styles that I love and that I want to try.
And I decided I'm going to go more neutral, like the rest of the house,
and then bring in, like, marble, because I have offcuts left from the utility
when we did the marble worked up in the utility.
So I'm going to use that to make a vanity unit.
I'm also going to use it to make a niche in the shower.
I have a niche cut in already.
So there'll be, like, normal tiles, then, like, a marble niche.
Anyway, I've got here ones that I really like,
and then I've got some that have just arrived now.
And I also, I think I'm due some more today,
so we'll have a look at those when they come.
Let me show you the vibe I'm thinking currently.
Okay, so I have these two samples here, and these are from Claybrook.
These are the Fellini in the Crema Gloss.
And I love the size of these, because I think I want to go for a metro tile,
but I wanted, like, a small format metro tile.
And rather than laying it like a brick pattern,
like I've got on the backsplash behind the cooker,
I think I want to lay them vertical.
And I did toy with the idea of doing them striped,
so maybe having, like, a very subtle stripe.
So this is, like, the cream, and then maybe having the white,
so it's really, really subtle, but gives it a little bit of something.
But then I thought, is that just going to be a nightmare for my tiler?
Maybe.
And then I liked these for the floor.
This is just a cut sample, though.
This isn't the size of the tile, but this is the size of the tile I want.
But guys, it is so hard to find small format, like, limestone or stone tiles.
I have found some, but this is just an offcut.
I think these are, I want to say 400 by 400, or 300 by 300.
So they're sort of, like, that sort of size,
which is a bit bigger than what I wanted, because it is a small room.
I thought it would look nice to have a small format tile floor.
This is a Dijon tumbled limestone, and I love the tumbled edges and stuff,
which is what I would want, because I want it to look quite rustic and organic.
Organic is the vibe I like.
I think that's the word I like to use most when I describe things in my home.
I love mixing materials.
I love having a lot of, like, wood and organic shapes and, I don't know, textures,
and then keeping the colour fairly minimal,
and then, like, bringing in the colour with the decor is typically what I like to do.
Anyway, so this was for the wall, and this is for the floor,
and then for the shower floor, I think I'm set on what I want in there.
I want, like, a pebbled floor.
You can buy, like, these mesh sheets that have got different size pebbles on them,
and it's just, like, an arrangement,
and I think I want to have the floor tiled inside the shower with that.
I think that would be really nice on your feet.
So I had these, and then I thought,
I'm just going to order some more samples, because I love these,
but I just wanted to shop about a little bit more first.
So these, and then I have here some samples.
Let me show you this one first, actually.
I have here a sample from The Tile Company,
and The Tile Company is where I got my checkered tiles from in the hallway,
and I also have used them for my tiles in the downstairs bathroom floor.
I've got, like, a marble herringbone floor in, like, a small brick format,
which looks really nice.
So they sent this sample, and this is obviously a full tile sample,
which is quite a nice size, to be fair.
I absolutely love the colour, because it's, like, a warm amber,
but, like, still neutral, and I love that.
This is what this one is called, and I do like that,
but again, I am wanting something quite small format.
So in come these terracotta tiles.
These are the perfect size.
This is exactly the size I was envisaging.
So this, did I say travertine?
I meant to say travertine.
I don't know what I said before, but these are travertine.
So we have this, and this is the colour Tuscany,
which I think is gorgeous,
and then we also have some other travertine in the colour Autumn,
which again, I think is gorgeous.
I think out of the two, I prefer...
On the camera, they look almost the same,
but there is a lot of variation in the colour of the tiles.
So if I hold up, you can see that one there is slightly darker than the other one.
Out of these two, I think I like the Autumn more.
This, I think, is lovely, but maybe a little bit too white.
So I did think I considered doing a checkerboard pattern with these two.
This could be dangerous.
I could end up dropping something here.
Like this.
Is that right?
Nope, that's not right.
Like this.
Like a very, very subtle checkerboard pattern.
So I'm stuck at the moment because I think this would look lovely,
but if I did a checkerboard floor and then I did a striped wall,
I don't know if that's too much pattern.
I'm leaning more towards the idea of doing the striped walls and a plain floor
and just going for these Autumn travertine tiles.
We should probably have a look at the ones that just came.
Just really need to get this done now.
It's just one of those things that we've gotten so used to
just having the one bathroom upstairs and that's fine,
but if we have like people staying and stuff,
I feel bad that they've got to like share a bathroom.
Like we've all got to share a bathroom.
I know it's like that is totally a non-issue,
but it would be really nice to have our en suite there
because if you need to get up for a wee in the night,
then the door's just there.
And also it's such a waste of space right now
because there's literally nothing in there.
Okay, so these samples are from Cornstone
and I have never used them before
and they did actually reach out to me
suggesting that they'd be happy to work together on the en suite project.
So I went to their website and I ordered myself some samples.
I'm liking the size of these.
These look very, very similar to the Claybrook Studio ones,
but let's have a look-see.
I think I ordered these in two colours,
again, with the idea of maybe doing a little bit of a stripe.
Okay, so I ordered, this is incredibly subtle,
but when it's on a whole wall, I feel like you would notice it.
It's such a slight difference,
but I think it would be enough to have like an impact.
And so these are the Pastello range
in seashell is the darker colour and cotton is the white colour.
This is the Claybrook Studio one, which is so similar.
Probably use the same supplier or something
because they're exactly the same size and the colour,
because there is variation in colour with all of these types of tiles.
I think they're called Zelig tiles.
Anyway, that is where we are right now
with samples and tiles and all of that.
So I need to pull myself together and just get it done.
I think hopefully my friend's husband's going to come and do our tiling for us
because it is actually really hard to find a good tiler.
And we did have a good tiler before,
but he was really, really grumpy and he drank like 50 coffees a day.
I mean, he's maybe grumpy because I made him do really tricky tiles.
It would be nice to be able to give the business to my friend's husband
because I love my friend and friends support friends and all that.
So, yeah, anyway, I'm rambling.
I'm going to quickly tidy up the kitchen and then I have a TikTok I want to film.
🎵
Oh, guys, I'm literally in chapter one.
I'm so, I'm already crying.
Oh, very intrigued so far.
I think this is going to be good.
The magic system is so interesting.
And I'm obviously already emotionally invested.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm just trying to empty the dishwasher.
Oh, my gosh.
That wasn't even chapter one.
That was the prologue.
Why?
What a way to start the book.
I just cleaned the entire kitchen, so I've earned this.
Save that for later.
On my to-do list, I have a TikTok I want to film for some love triangle book recs.
I also have some pictures I need to take because I'm hosting a giveaway,
which I'm posting today, which will still be live when this video goes live.
So if you like the books that I'm posting in the giveaway,
go enter, it'll be on Instagram.
But the day before yesterday, I had a new proof come through.
How gorgeous is this?
I know you guys have heard me talk about The Wolf King loads by this point,
but I think that Wayward have absolutely nailed this proof.
Like the vibe fits the vibe of the book so well.
If you know nothing about The Wolf King, it's a very fast paced,
romantic love triangle with humans and wolf shifters.
But the wolf shifters are like in the Highlands, so they're Scottish.
It's so good.
I would highly recommend doing the audio because it's duet narration.
The narrators do an amazing job,
but my favourite MMC has more time to shine in book two.
So I don't know if they'll be doing proofs for book two as well.
If they do, I'd be very interested to see what they look like.
Anyway, I just want to show you guys this because it is absolutely gorgeous,
and I am so, so grateful to have this in my possession.
I need to find somewhere on my shelves that I can display this nicely.
I might put it on these ones somewhere.
I might move my Diabond stuff into this room at some point,
but that's a problem for another time because I have work to do.
So that is what we need to prioritise.
I brought my little M&S bag in here as well
because this picture frame that I got,
I got to put in here, probably on the shelf above my desk.
But now I'm thinking,
is it a waste to have a frame that's like cute like this up high
where you maybe won't see it?
But I'm doing a separate video on the office scope,
so that probably will be in that video, not this video.
And then I brought my little plant in here
to see what that looks like in here
because I can always return it.
I've kept the receipt.
I can take it back and swap it for one of the other ones.
So we'll see what it looks like.
And then I don't know if you saw,
but I've got this cute little cheetah print fleece for Honey.
How gorgeous is this?
I got it in an age seven to eight,
and Honey is quite tall for her age.
She's slender, but she's tall.
And so I always find that clothes fit her,
but then they're way too short for her.
I was also very tall for my age when I was a little kid.
So anyway, I got her this big one
because we like an oversized fit,
and then she likes an oversized fit.
So this will be too big on her,
but at least as well this way,
it will fit her for more than just one winter.
Like this should do her for at least this winter
and next winter, if not the winter afterwards.
So I thought this was cute
and it's got a little pouch at the front.
She loves putting her hands in her pocket,
so I think she's gonna love that.
Anyway, I am going to get set up now
and take pictures of this giveaway box that I'm doing.
The other tile samples have just come.
So we'll have a quick look at these,
and I'll tell you while I'm doing this as well
about the little giveaway.
So I'm hosting it on behalf of the Siren Book Club,
which is Michael J. Penguin Publishers.
So those are books that they publish,
and one of them is actually a Why Choose.
Which one was it?
This one, A Pack for Autumn.
The fact that it's a Why Choose definitely intrigues me.
I have heard really, really good things about this book.
So if anyone has read this, let me know.
But I've seen it being talked about
and apparently it's good.
And then we have If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia.
And I've seen a lot of the contemporary girls
picking this up recently.
So I'm guessing it's a good autumnal read.
Right, let's see.
Oh, I'm making a mess.
I'm pretty sure what I did
was I ordered the same tile sample from Claybrook
that I already had, but in the white,
to see what they'd look like together
to do the subtle stripe that I keep talking about.
But I've just thought if that other company
essentially used the same supplier,
this is just gonna be exactly the same as their white one.
I can get out of here.
I'm stuck to this bit of tape here.
So it's just the white version of the other one.
So I think it will be exactly the same
as the other ones that we've already opened.
So sorry, it's not as exciting as I hoped it was gonna be.
But at least now I can look at those and make a decision.
We'll maybe head up to the en suite later on
and have a look at them in the space
and see what we think.
Right, I'm gonna sit now and record a video for TikTok
that I wanted to do for like a week now
and just haven't got around to.
And then I need to sit and edit.
I have like five videos to edit,
but I think we will settle for two.
Okay, we just got done filming these book recs.
I need to go and pop all these books away now
and then I need to sit and do some editing.
But I think it'd be fun if we sit
and see how long it takes me to edit each video.
But first I'm gonna put these books away
and we will go and make ourselves a drink.
♪ Bring me back this way in your head ♪
Okay, bit of work.
And then we are going to prep for tea

I have a movie night reel that I filmed for my home account
that I wanna get edited and posted tomorrow.
And then I also have two different

that I would like to post or scheduled to post.
Honestly, I've lost track,
but we'll just go with those for now.
Okay, so the one I just filmed,
there is eight and a half minutes worth of footage.
So I think this will probably take me 15 minutes to edit.
But we shall see.
The time is 4.32.
Let's see what time it is by the time I finish editing this.

So this probably will actually take me
probably closer to 20 minutes,
maybe even half an hour, but we'll see.

I don't know what to tell you.
It was just a lot more work
than I thought it would be.
There was a lot of pauses to cut out
and also there was overlays that I added in,
text effects, sound effects.
I wanted it to be like quite interesting in that way
because I was just sat

and then we will sit and eat.
It's always really weird when we're child free, I think.
It's like you're just so used to
another little person being there
or at least being aware that they are somewhere in the house.
Dishwasher is on.
Pyjamas are on.
Makeup is off.
And I am going to put the puddings in the microwave, question mark.
Yes, I'm gonna pop these in the microwave.
I'm gonna get this ready
and then we're gonna go and get sat and cozy in the living room.
We haven't actually decided what we wanna watch yet.
We're just sat, aren't we?
Scrolling through, trying to decide what to watch.
But we will find something and we're just gonna chill now
and just have a nice evening together, aren't we?
Thank you so much for watching, guys.
