I was driving by some upshops, I found this 1930s art deco dresser for only $10,
has a big crack on the side of it, has heaps of boreholes, the handle's absolutely stuffed,
and there's big black marks on the top of the piece, has paint on the handles,
so let's get on to it. I'm just going to take out all the drawers first.
I'm going to use different handles for this project, so I have to replace this
drawer thing. I'm going to chisel the wood out and cut out a new piece for it.
This was the big crack in the deco piece I was talking about, but I want to get these marks out
on the top of the piece, and if I don't manage to do that, I think I might just paint it.
So I'm going to try bleach as a first option and see if it works.
I sanded it down and it didn't really work on the art deco piece. It worked kind of on this one I'm
for this black stain. I'm going to try some acetone on it, and if that doesn't work then
I'm going to try using some paint stripper. Spoiler, it didn't actually work, so I have to
move on to the paint stripper. But first, I'm going to mix our wood dust from sanding and some

I'm now going to replace the old handles with new handles. I'm going to do marking outs and I'm
going to drill holes for them, and then put the new handles on.
I have three samples of stains I'm going to try. I have this decking oil, and then I have this
Danish oil, and then the next one is polishing oil. I like the third stain the most, so I'm going
to use that on all of it. But I decided to paint on some of it, considering that I'm going to be
the cracks and stuff were still showing, and the black stain was hard to get out,
so I just wanted to cover up with something nice over it.
I'm now going to sand down the field cracks.
So I'm going to try one last time and use paint stripper and see if it works.
I use this dark chestnut stain for the art deco piece.
What are your thoughts on the final results?
