Friends, let me share with you a story that teaches us the power of kindness,
and why helping others is never wasted. In a small town many years ago, there lived a humble
carpenter named Arjun. His life was simple, he earned little, just enough to feed his wife Mira
and their two children. His workshop was small, a wooden bench, a few tools and unfinished chairs
What people remembered most about Arjun was not his craft, it was his big heart.
If a traveler passed by hungry, Arjun would offer food. If a neighbor needed help,
he would repair their furniture for free. If a stray dog limped into his shop, Arjun would
stop his work, give it water, and care for it. At home, however, Mira often worried.
Arjun, she would say, we are not rich, why do you keep giving away what little we have?
One day, we may not even have enough for ourselves. But Arjun always replied, Mira,
the world is full of struggles. If our small kindness can ease someone's pain,
then we must share it. What we give will return to us one day. God is always watching.
One cold winter evening, as the streets grew silent, a faint knock echoed on their door.
When Arjun opened it, he saw an old traveler, shivering, barefoot, his clothes torn and dusty.
Weak, pleading voice, son, I have walked all day. I am tired, hungry, and I have no place to stay.
Could you spare me some food and shelter tonight? Mira whispered, Arjun, we have so little left in
the kitchen. If we give it away now, what will we eat tomorrow? Arjun looked at her and said,
Mira, hunger cannot wait until tomorrow. This man may not survive the night. We may manage
with less, but he cannot manage without food and warmth. He welcomed the traveler inside,
gave him warm water to wash, placed his only blanket over his shoulders,
and brought out the last two rotis from the kitchen. The traveler ate slowly, his face lit up
with relief. With tears in his eyes, he whispered, Son, you saved me today. May the Almighty bless
you and your family with abundance and peace. The next morning before leaving, the traveler said,
I have nothing material to give you, but I can bless you. Your kindness yesterday was pure.
May your life be filled with joy and may your family never see hunger.
He placed his hand on Arjun's head, whispered a prayer, and left. Life continued, but slowly
something began to change. Villagers from nearby towns started coming to Arjun's workshop.
His honesty and skill brought him more work than ever before. His earnings grew,
his children went to school, his home filled with warmth and comfort.
One evening, Mira said, Arjun, do you see? Work has doubled, money is flowing in. This is strange.
Do you think it has something to do with that traveler? Arjun smiled and replied,
Mira, maybe this is God's way of reminding us that kindness always returns.
What we give with love never goes to waste. From then on, even Mira began cooking an extra meal
each day, placing it near the door, waiting for anyone in need. Friends, Arjun's story carries
a lesson for all of us. Each of us can bring light into this world through small acts of kindness.
Here are three actions you can start today.
Action 1. Share what you have. You don't need wealth to help. Even a little food,
a glass of water, or a kind word can change someone's day.
Action 2. Offer shelter and comfort. Sometimes people don't need money. They need warmth,
dignity, and hope. Give a seat to the tired, lend an ear to the lonely. That small comfort
may save them. Action 3. Help without expecting anything in return. True kindness is selfless.
Arjun didn't expect a reward, but life rewarded him in abundance. Help not because you want
something back, but because it is right. Friends, remember this. Helping others does not reduce what
you have. It multiplies it. Every act of kindness is like planting a seed. One day,
when you least expect it, those seeds will bloom back into your life as blessings.
So live with this truth. The hands that give will never be empty. Be kind. Help someone in need,
because in the end, kindness is the only wealth that truly grows.
