Ladies and gentlemen.
Hi.
Hello, hello.
How are you?
I am great.
I'm excited to be here.
Well, what is your name?
Tell me about yourself.
My name is Gabby Simone, and I am from Baltimore, Maryland.
I'm 22 years old.
What have you done as far as singing?
So, I started posting on Instagram in 2020, and one of my videos went viral.
From then, Jennifer Hudson found my Instagram page, and I'm like, how do you get on this
side of the Internet, Jennifer?
But she found me.
Well, you said you were a singer.
You sound just like her.
That was a, oh my God, great impersonation.
I'm like, how did you get over here?
And, you know, she reached out to me and asked me to be on her show.
I grew up watching her, and for her to reach out to me is, like, super-duper surreal.
It made me feel like I'm not doing all of this for nothing.
After the show, she still wanted to keep in touch, and I reached out to her about American
Idol, and she said, go for it.
You should definitely do it.
And I'm here today, so, yeah.
It was surreal.
It was crazy.
So, you're used to all of this.
You've had a little experience.
That's great.
A little bit, yeah.
You shouldn't be nervous at all.
I'm just excited and honored to be here.
What are you going to sing for us?
I am singing Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
Okay.
Ooh.
There you go.
All right.
Looking out on the morning rain, yeah.
I used to feel so lonely.
I used to feel so uninspired.
And when I knew I had to face another day, oh yeah.
Oh, it made me feel so tired.
Before the day I met you, my life was so unkind, but you're the key to my peace of mind.
Darling, you make me feel, you make, you make me feel like a natural woman, yeah.
I mean, what you done to me, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Natural woman, a natural woman.
Thank goodness.
Thank you so much.
Great, well then.
Thank you.
How'd you feel, Luke?
Well, what I, first of all, you were nervous at first.
Yes, she was.
But then you got unnervous.
Unnervous.
And the more you got unnervous, the more I got chilly.
The best thing going on about you is you have this little star thing.
Thank you.
You just look like a little star.
And then you sing like a big old star.
And it's exciting.
It's exciting.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I'm sitting over here trying to control myself.
No, you know what it is.
You started out, and I must admit, it was weak at the beginning.
I called it fear, a little nervous.
And then you hit one note and then three notes.
And ladies and gentlemen, the room blew up.
That was spectacular.
I'm so happy for you, your family, and certainly for this show.
Thank you.
Because you need to be heard.
Thank you.
Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, you're gorgeous.
You have a beautiful, bright smile.
It's like you're warm without even doing anything.
And then once you start talking, once you start singing,
you just need some confidence.
And I love that I feel like you're a diamond.
We just got to just polish a little bit.
Just get some confidence.
Thanks.
It's really good.
Thank you so much.
I'm a yes.
Your future.
I'm a yes.
You're going to Hollywood.
I'm changing.
I'm trying every way I can.
I am changing.
I'll be better than I am.
I'm trying to find a way to understand.
But I need you.
I need a hand.
Who said I could do it all alone?
Oh, God.
Me too.
Together now.
It's gonna stop.
A few stolen moments is all that we share.
You've got your family.
Baby, they need you there.
Though I've tried to resist being last on your list.
No other man's gonna do it.
So I'm saving all my love for you.
You used to tell me, baby, we'd run away together.
Love gives you the right to be free.
And you said be patient, just wait a little while longer.
But that's just an old fantasy.
Cause tonight is the night for a feeling.
Oh, I'm saving, saving all my love for you.
I've been so many places in my lifetime.
I've sung a lot of songs.
And I've made some bad rhymes.
I've acted all my life on stage, yes.
With 10,000 people watching.
But we're alone now.
And I'm singing a song to you.
You, you taught me precious secrets.
Of a true love withholding.
You came out of fortune when I was high.
Oh, I'm so much better if my words don't come together.
So listen to the melody.
Because my love is in the high.
And when this life is over, baby, just remember, remember,
remember when we were together.
We were alone.
And I was singing this song for you.
On the sand of time.
No, there was something there, something that I left behind.
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets.
Leave something to remember so that you won't forget I was here.
I was here.
It was more than I thought it would be.
I will leave my mark so everyone will know I was here.
Just want you to know that I gave my all and did my best.
Brought someone to happiness.
Let this ride a little better just because I was here.
There's a hero if you look inside your heart.
You don't have to be afraid of what you are.
There's an answer if you reach within your soul.
The sorrows that you know will melt away.
A hero comes along with the strength to carry on.
And you'll finally see the truth that a hero lies in you.
Lord knows dreams are hard to follow.
But don't let anyone tear them away tomorrow.
With the strength to carry on.
And you cast your fears aside.
And you know you can survive.
So when you feel like hope is gone.
Look inside you and be strong.
And you'll finally see the truth that a hero lies in you.
I'm changing.
Trying every way I can.
I am changing.
I'll be better than I am.
I'm trying to find a way to understand.
But I need you.
I need you.
I need a help.
Who said I could do it all alone?
And how many good friends have I already lost?
And how many good ones have I lost?
Walking down that road.
Can't see.
Now I can see.
Change.
All together.
I'm changing.
Oh yes.
You know I know how.
I'll change my life.
And it's gonna stop.
No.
