In a small town lived a young man named Aditya.
He was not a bad student, just average.
But he had one habit that slowly poisoned every opportunity he ever had.
He kept postponing everything.
Whenever his parents told him to study, he would smile and say,
There is plenty of time.
I will start tomorrow.
And like that, one tomorrow turned into hundreds.
Three entire years passed.
And so did his chances.
When the results came, Aditya had failed.
Badly.
His parents sat him down and said something simple, yet powerful.
Learn to value time, son.
Time lost never returns.
But Aditya did not change.
He moved to the city for further studies.
But his habits came along with him.
His days became a blur of scrolling through reels, laughing with friends, wasting precious
hours.
Study plans turned into procrastination.
Dreams turned into distractions.
One day, in that city, Aditya heard about a wise old man people called Gyan Baba.
They said he lived under a tree, spoke little, but saw life deeply.
Frustrated and desperate, Aditya decided to visit him.
When he reached, the old man was sitting cross-legged under a large banyan tree, eyes closed, lost
in deep meditation.
Aditya folded his hands and waited.
After a few moments, the old man slowly opened his eyes.
Aditya spoke.
Baba, I am always left behind.
My friends move ahead.
I keep failing.
I feel like I have already lost.
Please help me.
Gyan Baba looked into his eyes and smiled kindly.
Your problem is not lack of intelligence.
Your problem is that you do not understand the value of time, he said.
Let me tell you a story.
A long time ago, there lived a just and generous king.
One day, while walking through the forest, he met a poor man.
The man was tired, his clothes torn, his eyes filled with hopelessness.
The king asked, Why don't you try to change your life?
The man replied, I tried, but nothing ever works.
I guess I'm just unlucky.
The king smiled and said, Today is your lucky day.
I give you one chance.
Come to my palace before sunset.
Whatever gold you can carry out with your own hands, it will be yours.
The poor man was stunned.
Excited, he ran home to tell his wife.
She said, Hurry, don't waste time.
But the man said, Let me eat first.
I'm hungry.
He sat down, ate slowly, then felt sleepy.
I'll rest for just a little while, he thought, and he fell asleep.
Two hours passed.
He woke up, panicked, and rushed toward the palace.
But the sun was scorching.
He stopped under a tree to rest again, and fell asleep once more.
When he woke up again, the sun was about to set.
He ran with all his strength.
But by the time he reached the palace, the gates were closed.
He had missed his one chance.
Not because of bad luck, but because of bad habits.
Gyanbaba paused.
Then he looked at Aditya with calm, wise eyes and said,
Son, this story is your life.
You are not lacking in talent.
You are lacking in urgency.
If you don't value time, regret is all you'll ever have.
Those words hit Aditya like a thunderbolt.
He fell silent.
Tears welled up in his eyes.
He bent down and touched Baba's feet.
That day, something changed.
Aditya returned home and made a promise to himself.
No more wasting time.
He deleted all his social media apps.
He stopped hanging out aimlessly.
He built a daily schedule.
Woke up at 5 a.m., studied for five hours.
Did revision at night.
Books became his new best friends.
And in just a few months, everything changed.
The same boy who always came last was now standing first.
