Hi everyone and welcome to the French Watch Collector. Today on the bench we see we have a
very special Omega, a very old one, an Omega Constellation, you can see it on a dial there
and it's actually a Omega Constellation Pipen, so which is a very unique dial you see with this
kind of hexagonal shape on the dial and I bought this watch on auction and yeah what I'm gonna do
on this channel I'm going to fully restore this watch because you can see there it's not in a in
very good shape yes it's working it looks like the watch is working just checking now if the
date is changing yeah looks like the date is changing and you can see as well the case is a
very special case with this weird legs on it and it's fully gold you can see it's very dirty but
yeah it looks very cool so we're gonna try to restore this case as well so we're gonna do first
we're gonna remove this old bracelet there and you can see there is very hard to remove this
this lug there there is a spring bar inside there and it's very stuck yeah I don't know I cannot
cannot get it out I'm gonna check on the other side see what if this one can yeah it looks
very hard as well you can see when I see the the bracelet yeah probably is there like since
a long time yeah with uh oh it looks like oh yeah look I'm breaking the leather from the bend there
it's like cardboard actually it's very very dry and you can see the spring bar there it's like
fully rusted inside so I'm gonna do the same thing on this side you see I can tear it up like it's
very brittle very uh very dry okay that's out and look at the why it's fully rusted like on
on the spring bar I'm gonna cut them that's uh easiest way to do it yeah but yeah you see I
could not remove the spring bars like probably everything is jammed inside so now we're gonna
open the case back you can see it's a screw down case back so I'm just going using my
rubber ball there and let's check what we can see inside again you see the case back fully gold
use a constellation sign on top of it and look at this beautiful caliber automatic caliber you
can see the numbers as well on there on the case back use the omega logo in the center
beautiful just gonna check if there is any play there on the rotor and it looks good so that's
a good news you can see the caliber is running the number there 561 as a caliber number and you
can see the rubber as well on the on the case here is fully smashed up and actually some pieces which
are missing so we need to change that at the end and we're going to do we're going to start
disassembling parts I'm going to fully disassemble this caliber to restore it and do a good service
on it but first we're going to remove the rotor here okay if it's come up very straight there
that's perfect and you can see there there is some clamps keeping the caliber inside the case
just going to remove that very gently we can see there as well all this all the writing on
on the caliber 24 joules that's quite a high number of for the jewels that's quite nice
there is actually an automatic system on it so yeah that's add a few more jewels
just going to remove you see that pressing on this button removing the winding stem
perfect and now let's see if the caliber can come out yes perfect we have this beautiful dial
very unique like again on this type of series if you want from omega I'm just going to remove
the our hands just lifting them up there perfect and I'm just going to put them in this box where
we're going to put a bit later on the dial and now I'm just removing the screws keeping the
dial in position and we're going to gently lift the dial very very gently there we go perfect
and we can see the date system inside okay we're going to put this dial in this box there just to
make sure we keep it safe and it doesn't move and we're going to start the disassembly on the
rest of the part so just start moving on the calendar side on the dial side if you want
just going to remove the calendar mechanism you can see there is two screws with a plate on top
you see the the date this there is in very nice shape and the caliber like you see on the die
it was some some damage like probably some water damage and you can see that
on the case the o-ring was not in good shape but actually the caliber looks really good like there
is no much marks or rust or moss moist like on on the caliber so that's a good news okay I'm just
going to remove the cannon pinion there you can see a jewel in center there of the center wheel
that's a already a nice touch because yeah it mean it cannot move like you cannot use and you
can see that on the time grapher like the numbers are not bad as well the mpq that 2.71 just losing
gaining more 70 seconds per day and the bit error which is almost at zero that's very nice for an
old watch but we're gonna try to do better so we're gonna disassemble everything so this is
gonna remove the automatic winding system just removing the two screws there and you can see
there we can take the entire assembly from the automatic system and we will disassemble that a
bit later on and now I'm just gonna remove the power inside the main tree main spring sorry just
releasing you see the the crown between my fingers very gently and if you did not subscribe
to the channel just please like the video and subscribe the video it will help my channel to
grow and as well to share this video to more people liking watchmaking so yeah if you want
to share to the video click on the thumbs up and subscribe to the channel thank you so much in
just checking there if there is any play you see in a in a balanced assembly and it looks good
so it means the parts are not broken inside yeah you see the spring here that's not really good but
yeah it did not went very far just checking if everything is okay if the air spring inside is
perfectly concentric and it looks good and we carry on disassembling the rest
of the caliber and you can see this omega with the 500 i call it the 500 series because there
is different 500 motors in this range of calibers they are fantastic calibers from from omega
obviously after they moved a bit along obviously like in the caliber range like for example they
went to the around 1000 caliber family like yeah it's not exactly the same type of quality as that
you can find on this 500 series obviously you have the 300 series before which are very good as well
a lot of manual but the first few as well automatic but this 500 series is they are so nice
so good and so strong you can see this watch is probably from the mid 60 mid 70 you can
actually find the the year of production with the serial number that you can see there starting by a
20 and yeah they are so robust and nice to maintain as well obviously like i said again a bit later on
they are nice but not as nice as the 500 series so i love this range of caliber from omega
just shaking there you see the play inside the the wheels if there is any adjustment that need
to be done with the jewels but it looks good i'm gonna remove the train of wheel there you can see
there with the serial number and here we go here is a train of wheel with the rest of the wheel
you can see there's a wheel that just fall off the escape wheel and we have the center wheel and you
can see this one is with a jewel and like i said earlier it's quite nice to have a jewel there
because sometimes if it doesn't have a jewel it start to wear off the main plate start to wear
off and you have too much play so you need to adjust that and with a jewel for sure there is no
no play so that's very nice just the assembling you see there's a keyless work pretty standard
there on this watch very nice actually you can see the the yoke spring very strong spring again
like every time and you need to be very careful when you remove it just to make sure it doesn't
fly you have the yoke there and there is a little spring that goes on this part here where that's the
part that you push just to release the winding stem and that's it we have disassembled everything
on the main plate and we're gonna do we're gonna take out you see this shock system here very
beautiful i don't know it looks like a hieroglyphic sign you know like the egyptian sign it's very
strange the shape of the spring on top of it perfect i'm just going to remove everything
gonna fully clean that and you see there i'm just paying the jewels with a piece of wood
just to remove the dried up oil or grease that there is on on the jewels and you do that on all
the jewels obviously and there i'm just putting back the balance just to make sure we kept it
nice and secure during cleaning and here as well i'm just gonna take out the jewel so just the
spring you see on top of it just opening it very slightly and i will be able to take the jewel out
the balance wheel you can grip it grab it with a bit of rodico it's easier actually
and now oh you see like there is a i don't know some grease on there on a barrel assembly
just gonna disassemble the barrel assembly barrel arbor inside and we're gonna take out the main
spring which actually looks quite clean inside for automatic grease you need to put some special
grease inside it doesn't look too bad and the main spring as well it's not that old you can see
the shape is quite a nice shape and now what i'm gonna do i'm just gonna disassemble the automatic
system you remember that just just took off at the beginning on the caliber and you can see inside
there there is a bridge and underneath few wheels for the automatic system you can see like some
small two small wheels there we have the reversing wheels like this one and we have another wheel
that gives information to the rest of the system if you want so that's fully disassembled again
we're gonna take all the jewels from the watch you see i'm polishing there the pivot the pivot
points from all the wheels i want to give them a nice shine and to make sure there is no friction
anymore on the pivot point and you see a quick clean inside the barrel obviously being an
automatic it's a bit more dirty than a manual one just do a pre-clean if you want so so far
so good on the disassembly of this caliber you can see not that dirty not in bad shape nothing is
like too much play or nothing nothing wrong like on this on this caliber so we're gonna go we're
gonna put everything inside this basket we're gonna clean all the parts inside the machine
and obviously after we're gonna reassemble everything and see if it runs even better
than what it was at the beginning and yeah here we go i'm just putting you see all these parts
inside this basket i put them by families if you want for example the train of wheels the automatic
system the calendar system on this caliber there we go i try to keep all the parts in families
and we put all of that inside the machine okay so first we're going to put the parts inside a
cleaning solution then we're going to do tool wrenching and we will finish by drying the parts
in the last chamber so i would like to tell you that i have a patron page so patron you can find
the link down below in the description you can register and you will help you will help the
channel so i would like to thank my existing patrons which are following me so marcus philip
roger matt david shelby yan root corny alan david tony team and gregory thank you so much guy for
supporting me on my channel and if you want to join the team there you can follow my patreon and
you will see all the information that you need for my patron and again if you did not subscribe
to the channel just keep click on the like subscribe clip on the bell icon as well because
i will try to put some very some video like every two weeks let's say and you will get a nice
notification when i put a new video okay so we're gonna start the reassembly of the watch
first you see the mainspring this was in very nice shape so i'm gonna reuse it so i'm using
this tool to rewind the mainspring as this special tool there and you can see being an automatic
mainspring you have this kind of y shape at the or v shape at the end so i need to be aligned
inside the system there to be to go inside there you go now i just rewind the mainspring
and we can remove you see this lever on top there and perfect you can see inside i'm just checking
we have the mainspring which is back in shape ready to go inside the barrel here but first
gonna put some grease as for being an automatic system the mainspring will slide on on the side
of these walls so we we put a special grease for automatic automatic mainspring and again another
grease on the bottom there just to give it some lubrification on the mainspring and now with the
tool gonna put the mainspring perfect again same thing gonna put some lubrication on top of there
of the lid and of course we're gonna put the barrel arbor in the center you see here
of the mainspring basically that's this part that will wind the mainspring inside
okay and we're gonna close the barrel assembly using this tool there just put it inside
i'm just gonna press on it perfect fully closed fully ready to be oiled you can see there on the
pivot point obviously of the barrel arbor just do the same thing on the other side
okay so what we're gonna do now we're gonna do some epilane treatment like i do every time
uh up the jewels you see that just moved uh on the jewels on the escape wheel and
we're gonna put it as well on the pallet fork just leaving like maybe 10-15 seconds inside
and when it's ready when it takes them out gonna dry them up each single one dry the epilane which
was on top there and basically what it does it will help the oil that i'm gonna put later on
it will help retain the oil on the surface like it will not spread um that's what it's for so
obviously that's more you see for the jewel there the drop of oil that i'm gonna put there here
in the center the oil doesn't spread like it will stay where i put it and this drop of oil will be
like in break like it will be encapsulated inside you see the chaton between the jewel and the
chaton we just do the same thing on the other side because obviously we have two jewels there
for the balance wheel and you see here we're gonna put again the chaton back on top perfect
and now i'm gonna put it back inside the balance assembly with the drop of oil that we just put
right in the center there of the jewel and obviously the spring on top of here is like
like if you want like the spring on your car it will absorb all the shock and uh it will that
that will prevent from you see the balance stuff here um the pivot point if you want
it will not break if you for example you give a shock to your watch if your watch fell on the
ground yeah it will prevent from the balance stuff being broken so that's what this spring
are doing this shock system is doing and this one is a yeah it's a very different one you see with
this spring on top with this screw so i'm just gonna tighten it there perfect just checking
if the balance is working nicely when we just blow some air on it and it looks good so yeah
that's a good news and now we're gonna we're gonna do we just remove the balance assembly which is
finished and ready now gonna put the train of wheel you see all the wheels one by one
aligning you see the pivot point in all the jewels just putting a drop of oil there on the
center wheel and we have the last wheel that come on top there perfect and now we're gonna
do the same thing exactly the same thing on top of the train of wheel with the you see we're gonna
put the bridge which has also like as well some jewels and we need to align all the pivot point
from each wheels on this jewel as well so for this you see i'm just tapping there just give
you some vibration to allow like the wheels just to fall in the holes and when it's in position
you see using another tool just moving every slightly the wheels and you feel it when you
fall in position like you will see the bridge dropping down ever so slightly just tapping again
just to finish see if it goes in position and when it is you will find like a quick move move
and when it's in position just move and you see like all the wheels are moving so it's been like
everything is aligned and we can secure that with the screw perfect just gonna put now the barrel
you remember we just put the main spring inside and we re-grease and re-oil everything and now we
have another bridge with you see like this jewel that goes like on a center wheel there is not much
space here so but like it goes just underneath there there we go and i need to align the rest
as well so we need to align the barrel here perfect and you see everything is turning
so that's the good news we're gonna put like all the screws gonna oil as well all the contact
point there you see that where i'm gonna put the click later on so now that's the spring for the
just gently putting the spring in position inside you see this groove that's it perfect
and now that's a click so basically when you wind the watch because being an automatic like most of
the automatic watch not all of them but most of the automatic watch you can wind them minorly as
well and that's what makes the noise you know or the feel a click when you turn the crown so that's
this part which is doing this job and option like this in the purpose of this part is actually not
to rewind is to hold the power inside the barrel not to rewind the watch when obviously you wind
it by hand or automatically and we have this wheel as well on top of it there with this screw this
is for the automatic system the connection with the automatic system and now gonna put
the crown wheel here just a couple of drop of oil just to make sure the lubricate there is no
wear or wear and and strength between the parts so that's why when you need to
service a watch like obviously most of the the oil after a few years like 5 10 10 years the oil
will be fully dry or gone and yes the parts will start to wear between each other and obviously at
one point they can break so that's why you want to do a service on your watch because yeah
so if you do it like when it's broken it means too late and yeah some of the parts can be very
expensive especially on on old watches so yeah it's better to do like like you do on your car
to do a maintenance on your mechanical engine from your car because you will have oil as well
between the piston is the same on a watch exactly the same on a watch and obviously when the engine
blow up on your car it will be more expensive than if you do a service every year on your car or
every two years on your car but on the watch is much longer but that's exactly the same reason that
you do it for watch and what you do it for for your for your car okay so just putting there the
setting lever use a spring on top of it and you see here again just putting some oil on all the
pivot point here is a grease so it's uh on some of the parts i will see a lot of more friction between
each other so you use a grease instead of oil we do the same thing there as well between the setting
lever and the yoke because actually you see these parts the tension is coming from this spring
it's a very strong spring so it will put a lot of tension between the parts perfect
okay i'm gonna move and carry on the reassembly with the rest of the wheels here we need to put
as well you see the cannon pinion which is friction mounted just putting a drop of oil
there on this jewel because after it will be more difficult you see when we put the wheel in position
and here we put the last part in position which is actually a spring you see there that's a spring
so i just put it in position and that's what give you the the position as well from when you pull
the crown you see look there one position and the second position so obviously on other watches you
will get for example three position if you want to adjust the date quickly like this one only has
two position which is winding and changing the time okay i just putting now you see the pallet fork
in position just aligning the power the pivot point on the jewel like we did on a train of
wheel and we're gonna do the same thing there on the on this bridge aligning everything and
you see it moving you see when just down and it's perfectly aligned on the jewel
and you can see after cleaning as well all the parts are much nicer much shiny
than when they were before now i just quickly wind the watch manually and just check if everything
is working and you can see the power fork there which is clicking so it means the power is coming
to the power fork that's a good check to check everything is okay and we're gonna oil you see
there the exit jewel of the pallet fork just a drop of it's a grease actually i'm gonna put on
and on the teeth there you see of the escape we just do that three times because we're gonna do
every five teeth just put a drop of oil here gonna oil as well you see the jewel here all the
jewels with different oil inside just to make sure to lubricate you see the pivot point for friction
and for wear perfect and now everything is assembled and lubricated we're gonna put the
balance wheel in position and see if the caliber want to start yes perfect and i love as well as a
regulator on this balance which is like a very nice shape and on this one you see you have like the
second that's a second way we're gonna attach the second ends the second pinion so just gonna put it
straight through you see through the center wheel which is like you see engaged with this wheel
and on top of it you have a spring just to give it some friction because you don't want like the
second hand to jump like very weirdly so this give it a tiny bit of friction just to have a nice smooth
second hand when when it's on the dial so now we're gonna reassemble the calendar mechanism
pretty simple sample on this one because you don't have a quick set date you just have you see
like that's our wheel you will have let's say another extra two wheels for the calendar mechanism
so we have here you see the date disc and here you have you see this plate on top of it with
the date jumper which is integrated underneath so we're gonna realign this main plate just to
make sure it goes to the right place there we go perfect and we just need to make sure
the date jumper you see there is in position and we're gonna secure that with the two screws there
love the finish as well this kind of sunburst finish on this plate beautiful and let's see
the date is changing i'm doing like now i'm changing the time yeah perfect we have a date
jump and we're gonna carry on reassembling the automatic system here we go now we have the
two small wheel which are very tiny and very difficult to put in position in the pivot point
here here we go that's the first one and we have the second one that go like to another level if
you want of this reversing wheel and actually the reversing wheel is a way to when the rotor is
turning in both sides side sorry it will rewind obviously the main spring only in one direction
because you can wind only your main spring in one direction so that's a quite clever way to do it on
this automatic system because yeah the first few obviously there is different version of winding
system automatic winding but there was one where the rotor was turning in one direction it was
winding and the other one it was not doing anything so obviously you double the efficiency of your
automatic winding if you do it in both side just again oiling all the jewels there from your
automatic winding system you need to do that obviously on both sides very important again
just to make sure the parts don't wear off and now we're going to put like the automatic assembly
on top of the caliber actually this one goes in between you have a kind of a groove in the middle
a way where they keep some space for the automatic system and that it is in position now
okay that's perfect what i'm gonna do now i'm gonna do a quick cleaning there
on the on the case on the fully gold 18 karat case and you see like when i just put it on
the dust that came out and to give it a good shine i'm just gonna do a i'm not gonna do a
i'm just gonna do it very gently by hand and you see i'm using this paste
i think it's for like steel or knife to polish a knife and just gonna rub like quite a lot like
on this towel here and you see give it this kind of black finish from from the gold and you will
see the result at the end obviously you need to be clean again after putting the paste uh for for
the polishing just gonna do the same as well on the case and uh on the crown just to give it a
good shine and a nice shine on this watch because gold is very soft so yeah i don't wanna i just
want to keep it as well uh i don't want to remove like and do it as brand new uh just want to give
it a nice shine remove some of the very tiny small uh marks on it but like obviously the big one will
still be there and you will see the result at the end what we can get on the case uh for for this
watch and you wait quite a lot as well being some uh some full gold on this uh on this caliber
especially the case back um it's uh it's very nice weight to it and you see it's just very simple
with this uh with this part and you will see at the end we just do another clean as well just to
remove just to remove the paste like i said perfect okay so i'm just gonna put back the
dial which i did not do anything because it's a very old die dial and um yeah it can it can get
damaged if you wanna clean it or anything it looks very fragile so just gonna leave it like this
and actually yeah just give it some character as well on this vintage watches yeah some history so
you just wanna keep i just i don't want a brand new watch for with a vintage if i want a brand
new watch i just go on the shop and buy a brand new watch just gonna do a quick polish as well
on the gold end there you see there just very gentle polish there with this special tool for
the hands again it's not to give it a full polish on the hands but just give it some shine
and a tiny bit of polish on it just gonna do that on all the hand as well the minute hand
and the second hand obviously see the difference a bit like where where it is polished and where
it's not and that's the second hand obviously like these hands are very very small and now
we're gonna do i'm gonna change the date make it jump just there so it's mean it's midnight so
gonna align the hands to midnight so first the hour hand yes just gonna press it in position
with my orotec tool there very gently press it in position and now we're gonna align the minute hand
perfect yeah that's fully in position so i'm gonna check when the date is changing
here just two minutes before midnight so that's perfect uh so now gonna do the second hand
i'm just gonna press it in position first align it there you remember on a second pivot that was
this spring on top of it so we're just gonna press it there you see now it's just starting
and we're gonna press it in position perfect okay we're gonna reassemble the case so first
i have a brand new crystal because the original crystal was scratched but very deep so i cannot
polish and restore it i just put a brand new one using this press there this orotec custom press
and here we go that's it now it's in position just gonna a quick clean gonna vacuum all the
dust inside and blow as well on the die all the dust that there is just to make sure when it's
inside the case is perfectly nice we have gonna put you remember the ring that was very bad and
very dry and fully flat gonna put a brand new ring inside there inside the case just put some
grease on it there you go you see that perfect perfect size great and now just gonna put that
inside the caliber you can see you can start to see as well the shine on the on the case
and the crown here as well just put it in position just need to push you see like on this
like when we did to remove it perfect that's in position we're gonna put there the two clamps
remember to maintain the caliber inside the case we have the other one there the second one
and obviously we are missing a big part i'm gonna put all at the end first putting a dropper
there on this rotating point and we're gonna put like this massive rotor there for the automatic
system so shiny you can see there you can see myself inside that's a very nice and very shiny
and we have inside there we have this part that come just need to lift it a tiny bit you have
this part that come and secure the rotor just to make sure it doesn't come out so i just need to
push it inside a groove inside there we go and it's kept in place with a tiny screws is so small
this one there we go so now the screw is ready and you can see we are waiting winding the watch
the rotor is not moving so that's a good news because as well that's a problem when you want
the watch you find the rotor spinning inside and some of the caliber is not normal i find some of
them it does but most of it is not normal and look at the case back just you can see we still have
and you see it running the second end which is very smooth obviously like now it's speed up a bit
just put a brand new bracelet on it because you remember the one at the beginning was like
cardboard like it was so dry i'm just going to put a brand new black leather i think it looks
good on the gold just putting there you see brand new as well spring bars just going to close you
see with this tool from Morotex this press just to close the case back but just go one way just
to make sure everything is aligned and now i just screw the case back perfect
demagnetize the watch and before we go see the result i just to tell you that i have my own
website you can find a link down below in the description you will have history on my channel
as well you will find some watch as i'm selling actually this omega pipe end will be for sale on
on this website and if you want to send me your watch like for example this type of watch to do a
quick service on your watch i would be very happy to service and restore your watch so click on the
link down below on my website and here is a result on the timegrapher you can see when the
watch start to settle it's almost a 300 in amplitude raised the rate will be bang on at
zero be be close to zero and the bit error at 0.1 so now the result is perfect we got
more amplitude at the beginning and look how this beauty and like i said is for sale on a watch
so i hope you like the video and we see you together on my next video bye
