It is back to the business of the Premier League following the two-week international break
and Arsenal are looking to continue their excellent start to the season
with a win at London neighbours Fulham. The Cottagers are unbeaten at home this campaign
and have restricted the Gunners to just one point in the last two league meetings here
at Craven Cottage. Despite this, Arsenal have only lost once to Fulham in their last 14 games.
And a point this evening will lift Arsenal back to the summit of the Premier League.
The Gunners have a fine record as well in London derbies on the road. Their last defeat
in the capital was here at Fulham at Craven Cottage back in December 2023.
Let's take a look at the starting lineups beginning with the home side Fulham.
Three changes from Marco Silva. Cuenca Kearney and Jimenez are the players brought into the
starting 11. Bassi and Diop drop to the bench and Lukic misses out altogether. He's injured.
As for Arsenal, just the one change. Martin Udagard as expected out with a knee injury
and he is replaced by Martin Zubimendi. And remember a point for the Gunners will take them top.
Nice little ball there. Jimenez feeds it across. Did it take a deflection? It did. It's a corner
and that was dangerous. It was. Arsenal nearly caught out there. He made the space there for
Trossard. Flicks it. It's Calafiore! What a finish! Ricardo Calafiore. Oh what a pity the whistle's gone.
It was a fantastic finish. We were just talking about him getting up alongside the centre forward
and he was literally playing like a second striker there. It's really really unfortunate if this is
indeed offside. I think he might be ever so slightly off. It's brilliant from Trossard to
take that on the way he does though and to produce that kind of finish. It's brilliant isn't it?
It's Cuenca. Iwobi. Good ball. Harry Wilson. Good feet. Drags it wide. It's a brilliant pass from Alex
Iwobi to pick him out. It's been lively Wilson. Off goes King again. Looking for options. Nearly
caught Reuer out there. He's a tricky little customer. Yeah I don't think that was King's
intention necessarily. Saka. Timber. Gets a second opportunity. Trossard. Again very congested in that
penalty area. Calafiore on his right foot deflects and it's gone for a corner off Anderson.
They could have deflected anywhere. That's better. Saka. Now Llores. Here's an opportunity. Good save
from Leno. And it's going to go back into his hands. The first time Llores got into space.
Yeah it's a brilliant Arsenal move. Saka does brilliantly. Llores peeling off the shoulder
again. He puts plenty behind it. Leno equal to it though. It's a good stop for Leno. I think he's at
a pretty decent height for the German goalkeeper. And he just beats it down into the ground in
Trossard. Not the biggest man coming in at the far post. Saka clips one in. Calafiore. Oh not
a bad strike at the end. Almost tried to guide the volley in and it didn't clear the bar by much.
Yeah he sort of threatened to really put his boot through it and then sort of withdrew a little bit.
Rice. Timber. Saka. Declan Rice. Caught it well but it's wide. I thought that was destined for
the far corner from Declan Rice. He set up so brilliantly for him. Here is Timber. Now Ezer.
Hope to get on the ball a bit more in the second half. Bit of space for him here. Plays one in.
It's come through. Trossard has time. Drags it wide. Well worked move from Arsenal.
Trossard just trying to catch Bernd Leno out at his near post there. Ezer's delivery a good one.
I wondered if he was going to play it into the feet of Declan Rice on the edge of the box
and use Jokeres and Trossard as sort of decoys. Just creating that bit of space on the edge of
the box. Saka did well to make the space. He's got away from Sessegnon. Still Saka.
Still going. Plays it right across. Almost at home goal and then it's cleared away by Castagna.
How on earth has that stayed out? It's brilliant from Saka down the right hand side.
The minute he gets in front of Sessegnon he's in all sorts of trouble because he can't commit
to the challenge. Bit of luck there to get through the challenge of Cuenca and in the end it's hooked
away by Castagna. Arsenal unlucky not to be in front here. Saliba tries to make the intervention.
Here comes Fulham. Here's Jimenez. Timber across. Fulham still have it. Here's Iwobi. Plays it back
across. Shot comes in and it's over the top from Wilson. But that was just a sign where Fulham can
be dangerous and he almost caught the Gunners out. Wilson really has been the danger man hasn't he?
But do you know where that stems from? That stems from Jimenez again dropping deep from centre
forward and just pinching the ball back for Fulham. So Gunners pushing for the opening goal.
Overcomes the delivery. This time it's in from Trossard. Trossard turns it in from close range
and the Gunners have the lead. Leandro Trossard steps up and turns in from close range. It's a
brilliant Arsenal set piece. They've had enough goes this evening from those corners.
Gabriel involved as well. It's a brilliant delivery. I think there's a little flick on on its way
towards the back post and from there Leandro Trossard was never going to miss was he? He's
been picked plenty recently by Mikel Arteta. Yeah it was that touch from Gabriel on its way
that makes all the difference and Gabriel knows what a big contribution that is. Look at his
reaction. Nice play there by Trossard feeding Saka. Good skill. Saka good save from Leandro.
That was a wonderful stop. Really sharp play from Saka. Rice another terrific ball there. Switching
the play to Saka. Saka's really involved in the second half. He's now becoming a real menace and
that's a free kick. Is it a penalty? It's a penalty. It's just inside the box. VAR will check it
but a penalty has been awarded. Well that's been coming. Bukayo Saka has been
causing Fulham all sorts of problems. It's very very tight this. Does he get a stud to the ball?
That's what they'll be looking at. They've moved on to checking if it's on side so maybe they are.
After review, Fulham 22 makes a challenge and plays the ball. Therefore no fouls committed.
No penalty. Three stars a drop ball to the goalkeeper. Arsenal clip it forward looking for Yocorez.
Might get his opportunity. Yocorez just couldn't keep it down. Just couldn't keep it down. Victor
just bumps the centre half there. That's a nice ball. Good control by Timber. Clips one across.
An overhead kick. Blocked. They want a hand ball there. Martinelli was in there with the acrobatics.
Made a sweet contact with it Martinelli. Full of confidence at the moment isn't he?
He was willing to take that on. Bukayo Saka. Yocorez. Smart save. The rebound. Nearly put
in by Martinelli. Double save by Leno. Again it's a really good turn from Victor Yocorez.
Arsenal found him a couple of times to his feet and he spun and almost won a penalty earlier on
in the game. This time he manages to get the shot off. These players are then out of position.
There goes the final whistle. Hard fought but Arsenal have got the three points.
They did control most of that second half. Mikel Arteta will be thrilled.
Arsenal go back top of the Premier League. The only goal scored by Leandro Trossard from a corner.
Flipped on by Gabriel. Trossard turning it in from close range with his knee. He's finished
Fulham nil. Arsenal won.
