Experience the thrill of Formula E's most dramatic last-lap wins. This video showcases incredible overtakes and close calls, highlighting the intense energy management challenges. Witness breathtaking racing moments from across multiple seasons.
Surely he's not going to make that stick!
Oh, wide there for Cassidy, that's a mistake!
Weaving on over the back, he's going wide!
Oh, this is going to end well.
Through the chicane.
Two more corners to go now in the FIA Formula E race here in Beijing.
There's still just six tenths of a second between first and second,
but it looks as though Nico Prost may just have enough.
He comes through Turn 19, one turn to go.
Heidfeldt's closing in as they come towards the final corner at Turn 20.
Is Heidfeldt going to fancy a look into the last corner of the race?
Heidfeldt goes to the inside line!
And they make contact!
And they're both off!
An accident for Nick Heidfeldt.
He has gone off the circuit.
The two of them come together in the final corner,
which means Lucas di Grassi is going to take victory in the FIA Formula E race here in Beijing.
A dramatic, dramatic end to the race
as Nick Heidfeldt is pitched into the air after contact with Nico Prost.
There is Nick Heidfeldt clambering out of his Venturi car.
It's good to see.
It's fantastic to see Nick Heidfeldt climbing out.
Not really the test we wanted,
and I think we might have a bit of a conversation here between these two.
And Nick Heidfeldt, not impressed with that.
And so, a dramatic end to the Formula E race here in Beijing.
Here we go, this is on board, coming down towards the final corner.
Heidfeldt goes for the inside, and I mean, that's a...
Yeah, that's a puff!
But there is our race winner, Lucas di Grassi,
for the Audi Sport Apps Formula E team.
He takes victory.
Lucas di Grassi, you have put everything you've learned over the past few months into practice.
Congratulations, you are the winner.
How does it feel?
It feels great to be the first winner in Formula E.
Although, I have to say, the accident in the last corner
is something that nobody wants.
Nobody wants to win this way.
Our strategy was not the best strategy.
We lost the position, we were not able to get it back.
But that's racing.
I'm very glad that Heidfeldt is okay,
and the car proved to be very safe, first of all.
But I'm very happy to get this win home.
Lucas crossing, start-finish, three laps to go.
Oh, here comes di Grassi to the outside.
Three laps to go is 6%.
That's a heck of a lap.
That's a long way.
5%.
I feel your pain, Alan.
I feel your pain, Dylbak.
It's all about the energy in these closing laps.
But di Grassi is using a lot to try and pass him.
Two laps to go, two laps to go.
Here comes Lucas.
Wehrlein covers the inside, he knows he has to lift.
Oh my God, they're really tight.
Di Grassi to the outside, still not enough.
Wehrlein saying, I'm really tight.
On to the final lap of the race.
Wehrlein lifts, di Grassi attacks.
And he can't do it.
This is the last lap, try to do as much as you can.
Here they come.
Here comes Lucas.
Di Grassi up the inside and Wehrlein goes straight on.
And he cuts the chicane and he doesn't stop.
And that's in the regulations.
And this is going to run and run.
This is going to be a post-race investigation, I fear.
And so who is going to win the E-Prix?
Unless the BMW of Da Costa gets involved as well.
Wehrlein's got 1%.
I think Mortara's probably the only guy getting there to the finish.
He's gone from 6th to 4th.
The Nissans are out of this one.
Wehrlein, can he get to the line before he hits 0%?
That's going to be the big question.
Who's going to win the Mexico City E-Prix?
Di Grassi goes for it.
Wehrlein covers.
He's defending like an absolute...
wide demon.
Here comes Wehrlein out of the final corner.
Is it at 0?
Di Grassi wins!
Di Grassi wins.
Surely Da Costa is 2nd and surely Mortara is 3rd.
What a mad end to the Mexico City E-Prix.
It never fails to deliver.
Audi don't need to wait for any post-race investigation
because Di Grassi took the flag.
Wehrlein's been given a 5-second time penalty as well
for cutting the chicane.
The highs and lows of racing.
I think today was my best Formula E race ever.
It was unbelievable.
Wehrlein was very dodgy, closing the door,
changing direction many times.
So I tried to put pressure on him,
make him use energy,
and then in the last corner he just slowed down,
tried to close the door,
and I crossed the line sideways.
It's unbelievable.
Two laps to go in the first ever DHL Valencia E-Prix.
Da Costa leading, De Vries 2nd, Sims 3rd, Roland 4th.
De Vries has a lot more energy, you know,
and actually it's going to be tight to get two laps out of 4%.
Am I being dramatic here?
Is De Vries going to be the only driver to finish this race?
Well, Dennis isn't looking good, is he?
1% there.
Just follow the target, follow the target.
De Vries being told to follow the target.
This isn't the final lap.
Oh, there's one more lap.
We hit zero, we got one more lap at the end of this,
and De Costa's on 2%.
Bird and Lin and Evans, they're all on 1%.
De Vries is going to be the only driver to finish this E-Prix.
Muller, Muller's got 5%.
De Costa's going to start the final lap with 1% energy.
Here they come, out of the final corner,
and across the line,
and the chequered flag's not there.
There's another lap, none of them have energy.
This is an absolute catastrophe.
De Vries is going to be the only driver,
and maybe Cassidy.
All of the field, apart from Mercedes,
have miscalculated the length of the race.
The Neos are grinding to a halt.
This is an unbelievable end to the Valencia E-Prix.
Okay, take a little bit of margin into the final corner.
We don't want to get the ramp down on the main straight.
Here comes Nick De Vries, out across the line,
the chequered flag falls.
Nick De Vries wins for Mercedes EQ.
Who else is going to finish with enough energy?
Well done, mate. Mega job.
That's how you win an F.E. race, right there.
Muller and Van Dorn, second and third, it seems.
That seems right to me, yeah.
It just came a bit unexpected,
and after the kind of difficult weekend we had in Rome,
and the five seconds penalty, and everything,
it was time to get back,
and the team just executed it perfectly,
and I'm kind of a bit surprised to see
number five, Stoff, my mate,
next to me on the podium as well.
But yeah, great day for us, and very, very pleased.
Thank you.
Frijns is under big pressure from Gunther.
Evans leading, but look at this battle for third.
Robin Frijns covers the inside,
and look how close it is for the lead.
Da Costa right behind Mitch Evans as they climb up Beau Ravage.
Keep your energies under control.
Side by side, and here comes Da Costa.
They make contact.
Evans holds the lead.
What a grandstand finish we're in for at Monaco.
Fantastic stuff with Evans.
Da Costa, Frijns first. Again, Evans is defending.
I'm going to struggle here.
Evans is saying, I'm going to struggle here.
One more lap to go.
Evans holds the lead.
Final lap of the E-Prix.
It's going to be so close for Mitch Evans to get to the end of this.
If he hangs on, it'll be one of the most remarkable drives
that we've seen in Formula E.
Da Costa goes for it into Beau Ravage.
They don't hit. Just.
Frijns has got more energy than the pair of them in front.
Down the hill now, into Mirabeau.
You can defend into Mirabeau.
The hairpin, though, watch for Da Costa doing a lunge.
Oh, and it covers the inside.
Mitch Evans, Antonio Felix Da Costa.
One percent of energy left, too.
Final lap, coming down into the new Nouvelle Chicane.
Da Costa to the outside and to the lead.
All locked up. Gets it stopped.
Da Costa takes the lead on the final lap.
The DS Teixeira driver hits the front.
The reigning champion is going to secure his first win of the season.
Robin Frijns is going to try and take second
because Evans is going to be so close, so marginal getting to the end.
Jean-Éric Vergne is involved as well.
Frijns to the inside. They bang wheels.
Evans cuts across. There's a crunch of carbon fibre.
Evans still holding on to second place.
The widest Formula E car you've ever seen.
But Da Costa cleared him.
Da Costa comes through the final corner.
Da Costa wins in Monaco.
Jack Nicholls has lost his voice.
An unreal end to the E-Prix.
And Frijns gets second, does he? Yes?
Frijns on the line!
This was the move again for the lead.
Full commitment to the outside.
Everything locked up. Gets it stopped.
Da Costa, one chance to win this race.
And he took it with full commitment.
Fantastic manoeuvre.
Just authoritative. Just went in there.
Took the win. Mitch Evans was in trouble.
Mitch drove a fantastic race too.
I knew the race was going to be so hard.
With the energy management.
We played a perfect strategy.
With the team telling me all the information I needed to know at the right time.
All the attack modes and everything was really well played.
Oh my God, how many lead changes we had in a Monaco E-Prix.
That doesn't happen in any other racing series.
Do you think that last one was the best overtake of your career?
It was definitely the riskiest.
I thought I wasn't going to make the corner.
Mitch was super fair.
And Robin as well.
Super hard but always super fair.
I love racing these guys when it's like this.
Love it.
He's gained four places in this race.
Da Costa has gained nine.
And it's all kicking off behind.
It's madness at the back there.
There's a bit of debris flying up in the air.
It's a save for him. Don't worry.
Two laps to go. You will make it.
Here's the message to Jean-Éric Vergne.
But Da Costa's looking for it.
Da Costa wants this. He's not settling, is he?
Da Costa's got a great run off Turn 7.
On to Beach Road.
Is he going to go for it again in Turn 8?
Weaving all over the back.
He's going for it.
This cannot end well.
He's done it.
Oh my God.
What?
Antonio Felix Da Costa with a farcical move.
For the lead of the Cape Town E-Prix.
The man's on a mission.
Unbelievable.
If he wins this race, he absolutely deserves that.
Antonio Felix Da Costa hits the front for Tagoya Porsche.
Vergne down to second.
Fenestrat's still running in third.
But look at this from the Portuguese.
There's no room, but he just sends it around the outside.
That was 10 out of 10 risk.
10 out of 10.
There's contact as they come back on it.
This is wild.
It's all about the battle for the lead.
Does Vergne fancy the same move?
He can't pull it off here.
Down towards turn 10.
Da Costa's fighting Vergne off.
That might have been the last chance for the Frenchman.
It's not going to be back-to-back wins.
It's going to be Antonio Felix Da Costa
into turn 12 through the final corner.
Da Costa wins for Porsche for the first time
on the streets of Cape Town.
Unbelievable drive from the season six champion.
I think it's a first.
I don't have a lot to say.
A lot of weight.
A lot of weight on my shoulders.
Thanks to the ones that stick up to me
and help me get here.
There was a moment there in the race
where I thought to myself,
when I missed the attack mode,
I thought, okay, now it's gone.
We have to finish second.
But when I dropped behind him,
I could see the energy coming back.
I said, let's go for it.
It's the only way I like to do it.
I didn't see you, man, in the mirrors.
I didn't see you.
That was a good one.
We were trying the same thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is looking, guys, like a two-horse race.
How aggressive is Sam Guthard going to be?
The Jaguar in front,
that's the team he drove for last season
and he was let go.
Still some cooling right-hand side, please.
Cooling right-hand side.
Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Got it, got it, got it.
He actually sounds like he's up for this, Sam Bird.
He's ready to go.
This is it.
This is probably his biggest chance
in the next lap.
This is the last lap.
They're starting the last lap.
Cooling out, trying to cool.
But is he going to have a move
or is he going to be happy with second place
finishing on the podium?
Looks a little bit far back, doesn't he?
Yes, he does.
Yeah, no way through for him there
down into the first corner.
You can see there, Wehrlein looking also
to attack for that final place on the podium
against Jake Dennis.
But no moves being made
in towards Turn 1 and Turn 2.
Look, though, at Sam Bird
looking for the outside line through 3.
No way through for there.
It's going to be all about the exit down
this back straight and the run
maybe in towards Turn 4
if Bird can invent something.
He's trying.
He's looking for the move.
The switchback, not enough.
He's parking the car
on the middle of the corner there, isn't he?
Mitch Evans, no way through
for Sam Bird at this point.
Two more chances, I would say.
Yeah.
Two more chances.
Turn 7, Turn 10.
Yeah, I think you're absolutely right.
Let's see how this is going
to play out then.
You can see they're pretty even.
Stephens on energy.
Bird just going down to 1%,
but Evans not too far adrift.
Evans is defending with every ounce
of talent that he has got.
We're side by side for third
in the background as well here
with Jake Dennis versus Pascal Wehrlein.
Dennis holding firm for now,
but who is going to take the win
of Round 4 of the E-Prix?
And look at Bird go for the outside.
Surely he's not going to make that stick
on Mitch Evans into Turn 10.
Bird's done it.
Absolutely amazing from Sam Bird.
He comes around the final corner
to win here in Sao Paolo.
Sam Bird takes his first victory
since 2022.
His first for Neil McLaren.
Evans in second,
and Roland onto the podium
on the final lap.
That was absolutely amazing.
Oh my God!
Come on!
I said on the radio,
I think he's struggling more than me
with the temperatures
and I was told to cool the car
and then I saw the lift points
and I thought, well, look,
it's now or never.
I've got to go.
He defended the inside
and gave me just enough room
on the outside
to have some kind of move.
I don't know how close it was to the wall,
but it was fair racing
and got it done.
Two laps now remaining
as we see Kasti
just holding on to that race.
You can see him driving
the defensive lines,
though Evans isn't going to give this up.
There's nothing coming through
saying that these two
are going to have to finish
in the formation that they sit now.
At the end of the day,
from the team's perspective,
one-two is perfect
whichever way around it is.
And it was not necessarily
Nick Cassidy's fault
that Evans has lost his front wing.
Well, the thing is,
Evans isn't going to finish
one and two, is he?
Because, of course,
that's a five-second time penalty
to consider in this one.
Oh, wide there for Cassidy!
That's a mistake!
He's off onto the grass!
He's lost it!
Evans and Cassidy
very close to one another
and Cassidy spins it round!
What a disaster
for the championship contender!
The rest of the field
goes sweeping on through
and Nick Cassidy
has thrown away the victory
here in Portland!
So, it's now Mitch Evans
that leads the race,
but, of course,
he's got a five-second penalty
to serve.
I would not want to be
in the debrief
after this race
for Nick Cassidy
in the Jaguar TCS Racing Camp
because that is
an absolute disaster
for the championship leader.
Evans is going to come through
these final few sweeping corners.
He knows, though,
that he's got that penalty.
Five seconds to serve
and Antonio Filis da Costa,
though he will finish
second on the road
as we come out of
the final corner.
It'll be Evans who
takes the chequered flag first,
but it is Antonio Filis da Costa
who comes across the line
to take yet another victory.
Three in the last four races
for Antonio Filis da Costa.
Jaguar and Nick Cassidy
will be very,
very disappointed.
Let's have another look
here, Alan.
Yeah, he just went in
and it was actually
nothing to do with Evans.
He just went in tight,
got lost the rear
and then spun around.
It was purely and simply
it looks like
a driver's mistake.
Nothing else.
Snap of oversteer there
going through 11.
He was wide,
he was offline.
That was already,
it was gone by that point.
By the time he got the oversteer
he was well out of position.
It's there,
he missed the apex.
Look how wide he was
turning into the chicane.
That put him out of position
and then it's all gone.
However, Evans,
even though he won
going across the line,
he actually,
with the penalties,
in eighth.
So he's still been the winner
out of this
alongside da Costa.
I mean, for the championship.
You know,
we did everything right today.
It's always hard
fighting against two cars
of the same team.
But we were able
to put the Jags
under pressure there
and then with Nick
making a mistake at the end.
But yeah,
honestly for me today
I just really wanted
to keep it clean
and be there at the end
and then see how it unfolds.
And it looked like
I was going to finish third
and then Nick makes a mistake,
Mitch has a penalty
and we take the win
there at the end.
So it's an amazing run of races
to be honest.
I will never ever,
after what I've been through
this year,
take any win
or any podium for granted.
So,
I got lucky today
to get this win
so I'll make sure
to enjoy it for sure.
And we're coming down
to the final lap
of racing here.
We're going to have to
get a last lap
lunge aren't we?
Gunther's got to have a goal
on the final lap.
This is for the win,
his first win
with DS Penske potentially.
So,
three kilometers,
one lap to go
here at Jeddah.
Across the timeline we go.
It's Roland versus Gunther
for the race league.
Keep an eye out for Barnard as well.
He's not in the picture
of this one.
Team radio for Gunther.
Roland is lifting early turn one.
Go now Max.
Let's go.
You're the best on track.
Max being told that
Roland is lifting there
a little bit into turn four.
Really closes up
and Barnard's not out of the picture.
In fact,
he's right in the picture here.
Three drivers potentially
battling for the lead
on the final lap.
Roland, Gunther
and now Taylor Barnard.
Three different drivers,
three different manufacturers
and teams.
This is going to be
absolutely thrilling
to the end of this one.
Here comes Gunther
looking at the outside
into the bus stop chicane.
Tries to switch it back
but Roland's got the line
covered again.
And we're taking
any opportunities.
Yeah,
Gunther a little bit
not as good
out of bus stop.
Energy is tight there
for Roland.
Look,
he's going to recover
some under braking
but Gunther's got
a little bit more in hand.
Does he have
the opportunity though?
Only two chicanes to go Tom.
This is absolutely
critical there
for Oliver Roland
so he's counting down
the energy.
Look at the graphic
on the left hand side
of your screen
and this is going to be
absolutely nose-to-tail action
between four drivers
for the victory
in this run.
Is Max Gunther
going to go for the lunge
on the outside
against Oliver Roland?
He does!
And Gunther goes through
and into the lead
at the final couple of corners
of this race.
Out of it now,
the DS Penske driver
wins here in Jeddah.
It's Max Gunther on top
from Oliver Roland,
Taylor Barnard
and Nick de Vries.
What a grandstand finish
we've had here in Jeddah.
And ultimately
it was pole position
for Gunther
and it's the race victory
at the end of 31 laps.
What a race!
What a finish
in Saudi Arabia!
Yeah, at the end
we just had more
than everyone else
and we got the win.
Obviously,
I didn't want
to leave it
to the last corner
but there was no other option.
Oliver was doing
a mega job today
and yeah,
great race.
