Yes, dear ones, the cold season is starting again and that's why we're looking at a few alternatives for I am sick today. Let's go!
In fact, in Germany it is often the case that most employers allow their employees to have one or even two days of rest without a medical certificate.
That means you don't have to go to the doctor. These days are called K.O. days.
And that means that you feel a little bad, but not so bad yet to go to the doctor.
And here there are different ways you can get sick.
Hello, I would like to sign up for I am sick today, but I think I'll have to take a day off, then I'll probably be fine again.
Thank you! Bye!
Number one. I would like to sign up for I am sick today.
That means I'm sharing that I'm going to fail today, that I can't get to work.
And then I said, but I'll probably only have to take a day off.
That's a very typical expression.
You show that I'll probably only have to recover today, get back to strength, and then I'll definitely feel better again.
Hello, I'm not quite up today and therefore stay at home.
But I'll probably be back tomorrow. Bye!
Here we have a very important colloquial expression, which you can also use in the work context,
if the hierarchy is not quite defined, and that is not quite up to par.
That means not being quite healthy, not feeling quite well or well.
You can always say that, no matter what kind of pain you have.
Whether it's stomach aches or just general unwellness or a cold, whatever.
By the way, if you often lack such authentic vocabulary,
exactly from the German conversational language,
then I can really recommend our everyday course for advanced learners.
We deal with almost 200 of the most common expressions from the modern conversational language at the advanced level.
You can find all the information via the link in the video description.
Hello, I'm not quite fit today and therefore prefer to take a day off.
But I hope I can work again tomorrow. Thank you!
Here we have, I'm not quite fit and therefore I take a day off.
This shows that you are not doing so well today and therefore you prefer to stay at home.
But you just hope that it will get better again tomorrow.
And now let's look at a few alternatives that you can use very easily,
if you actually got sick in a bad way and also went to the doctor
Let's go!
Thank you very much! Bye!
What do we see here? Here is an alternative.
I'm lying completely flat.
This shows that you just got sick, that you are not doing so well.
You say lying flat, when you really can only lie down, can't do anything
and just hope that it will get better again.
Hello, unfortunately I have a bad health and therefore I got sick until the end of the week.
What do we have here? Here we don't have I'm sick, but I have a bad health.
But you can also say sometimes I'm just sick.
That means I'm sick.
Normally when you say I'm sick, then you mean okay,
you are in the initial phase of a cold, for example, that you don't feel so good in general.
But if you say I'm very sick, then it means that you've gotten pretty sick.
And if you want to change something about your accent,
then now is exactly the right time, because my pronunciation course is about to start.
You know, your pronunciation is your business card.
Something that makes the first impression.
And that's exactly why I think it's always worth working on your pronunciation.
Especially since many of you have been writing to me lately,
that, for example, due to the wrong pronunciation or accent,
it has been disadvantaged or stigmatized in the professional context.
And that's not how it should be.
That's why you should work on your accent.
Not for these people, but for yourself.
Because, and this is also shown by the experience of my students,
after the pronunciation training, you just feel completely different.
You are very different. You are more self-confident, more confident.
And that's what people feel too.
They don't dare to make such racist comments.
If you're wondering how to learn in the course,
you learn on a modern online learning platform.
With my videos, as you know them here on YouTube.
Then also with my e-book, with all the theory.
And with my workbook, with numerous exercises.
Because, especially when it comes to pronunciation,
exercise is just everything.
Exercise makes the master.
And then we'll see each other after each part of the course,
i.e. prosody, vowels, consonants,
also in a live stream,
where we practice together,
you can ask questions and so on.
And if you also want my personal care,
so a kind of personal pronunciation training,
you can also book the premium rate.
We don't see each other in group live streams,
but really in private lessons.
And you can send me your voice messages every week
with the homework.

Also, ich habe mir etwas eingefangen.
