Hey guys and welcome back to my channel.
So for today's video I wanted to try out a completely new format and introduce a new
series here on my channel called Styling Basics.
As you know I just launched a new low-buy challenge where the top goal of this whole
challenge for 2021 is to wear what we have before buying something new.
So I'm hoping this series can inspire you guys to style up what you already have in
your wardrobes in different ways.
Because I'm sure that a lot of these things that I'm about to show you are something that
you already have in your wardrobe in some form or the other.
So I know that most of us are not even able to leave the house at the moment but I have
thrown in a couple of more dressy outfits as well.
Still very comfortable and casual but dressy at the same time.
And I just wanted to throw in some outfits that were also just something that we can
look forward to once lockdown has lifted.
So without any further ado let's jump straight into the video.
So this first look is something I've actually worn a lot lately and even though these are
a pair of tailored trousers they are super soft and easy going which is perfect for when
you're just spending time around the house or sitting down a lot throughout the day.
I've paired the look with an organic cotton tee.
This is the men's organic cotton tee shirt from Organic Basics which I've sworn by for
years now.
For more warmth you could add a jumper or a fine cardigan on top of that as well of
course.
I've then put on a belt with this look which I think is a great trick if you're wearing
head to toe black for example just to separate the pieces from each other and add some texture
as well.
If we're leaving the house I'd pair this look with my navy wool coat for autumn and winter
or a trench coat for when the weather is more mild and then my trusty secondhand Acne Jensen
boots.
Normally I'm not the biggest fan of jeans with stretch.
I prefer those thick non-stretchy kinds but I must admit for days spent around the house
and again days where I might be sitting down a lot or going up and down from the floor
a lot with our little one, stretchy jeans have become a go-to anyway at least this pair.
These are really old from Everlane but I'll link other more sustainable options down below
for you.
I'm wearing a basic t-shirt.
This is the white version of the Organic Basics men's t-shirt and to make the look feel a
bit more dressy I've thrown over a classic black blazer.
This one is super old.
I think I've had it for over eight years now and I just love this long line straight fit.
I've paired the look with my secondhand leather converse.
These are perfect for autumn and winter as they are a little bit more warm than those
classic canvas converse and then to balance out I've decided to go for my vintage Chanel
bag just because it makes every outfit feel a bit more dressy with very little effort
which is also why you see me wearing this bag all the time.
A basic shirt and jeans combo is something I love wearing all through the year.
These are my vintage Levi's jeans by Redone in the stovepipe fit.
I absolutely love these jeans and I've only just been reunited with them here post-pregnancy
and I've missed them so much.
The shirt is actually a hand-me-down from my husband.
He found that he just never wore it so he gave it to me and I do like when my shirts
are a bit oversized so it fits me perfectly.
I've styled the look with my Veja trainers which I've had for years.
These are the V10 sneakers and they did take some breaking in before they were really comfy
I think but other than that they've been my most worn sneaker these past couple of years
and I just love them.
This is a lovely easygoing look that you can easily dress up or down for any occasion and
it's something you could both wear just around the house with slippers and then with sneakers,
boots or even a fancy shoe when leaving the house depending on where you're going.
Next up is another jeans and tee combo.
You'll find that there are a lot of variations of this look in my videos but it's just the
ultimate base I think and again it's something you can dress up and down in so many different
ways.
Again if it's too chilly you could easily swap the tee with a fine knitted jumper or
cardigan but here I've thrown the jumper over my shoulders instead.
I quite like that look and not only does it look chic it's also quite practical because
you can then obviously throw on the jumper if it gets chilly.
I'm wearing a pair of old boyfriend jeans from Dr. Denim here.
These are super comfy as they are not too high waisted so if I'm sitting down a lot
working for example I can easily wear these all day without them getting uncomfortable.
I don't think they're available anymore but I'll link a similar sustainable option down
below for you.
I wanted to include a comfy and casual version of a suit in this video.
This is something I've worn a lot in the past years and it's something I would say you will
always be able to wear in some form or the other.
So it's a classic suit but here paired with a slouchy and soft white t-shirt and then
a pair of sneakers just to make it a lot more casual.
The trousers are a pair from Arc'teryx with white legs that I've had for a couple of years
and I absolutely love them.
I find that because of the wider fit they make my legs look longer and they're just
really comfortable.
I've paired the outfit with that same old black blazer and this is actually made in
a really thick kind of jersey material so it's super comfortable to wear all through
the day.
Again even though this is considered to be a more stiff kind of look when you choose
materials that are soft and comfortable and that move easily with your body you can easily
wear something like this for an everyday look too.
A classic red and striped top is something I cannot live without in my wardrobe.
I've been wearing tops like these at least the past 10 years and I've replaced a couple
of them along the way.
This one is a men's tee from Arc'teryx.
It's no longer available but I'll find something similar and link it below for you.
It's such a classic staple that you can easily pair with basically anything you have in your
wardrobe and for me it's an easy way to add a more graphic element to my looks as I don't
wear patterns or print that much.
I've paired it with a pair of straight leg white jeans with a raw hem and then my beloved
secondhand deco boots from Isabel Marant.
I bought these last year on Westyar Collective and they've been on my wishlist for years
upon years.
I just love them so much.
The color is a nice addition to my otherwise very monochrome wardrobe and they can easily
be worn with both jeans and dresses during the summer time.
I've then thrown over my secondhand navy wool coat and then giving the vintage chanel a
rest with this large shopper bag which I've had for around 10 years now.
So for the last two looks I wanted to create something a bit more dressy and fancy just
to show you how easily you can spice up a basic wardrobe for special occasions just
by choosing a more fancy shoe and choosing the right kinds of accessories.
I love wearing a basic jeans, tee and blazer combo for an everyday look and just by adding
a more fancy pair of shoes like these secondhand Valentino comps you could immediately turn
this look into something you could wear for a casual evening event for example.
I find that the right layered jewelry is also an easy way to update your looks not only
for special occasions but also for those very basic everyday looks.
It just makes such a huge difference.
The jewelry I'm wearing in this video is my own brand and it's all ethically crafted in
Germany so in case you'd like to have a closer look on that I'll leave everything I've worn
in the description down below.
Just like with my wardrobe my jewelry collection is one that can easily be mixed and matched
and it's super versatile both for day and night time looks.
The last look is another classic jeans and shirt combo and I just wanted to show you
how easily this look is turned more dressy again by focusing on that one element, the
shoes.
You could even add a nice lip and nail color again just to add some more dressier elements
to the look but in a super simple and effortless way.
I know most of us don't have any fancy events to go to right now but I thought I just wanted
to throw in a few jokers there so that we all have a little something to look forward
to and again these looks could easily be worn for an everyday look as well with some more
casual shoes so it's not completely wasted.
So that is it for today's video guys, I really hope you enjoyed it.
Do let me know what look was your favorite down below.
I have taken outfit pictures of each and every one of these outfits in this video which I
will be publishing on my Pinterest and over on my Instagram so if you do decide to recreate
any of these looks feel free to tag me, use the community hashtags, I'll put them right
here for you or maybe just DM me and I would love to see what you guys come up with.
As always remember that you probably already have a lot of similar things in your wardrobe
similar to what I've shown in this video but in case you feel like you have some gaps I
will link everything shown or at least similar since a lot of these items are old or vintage.
I'll leave something similar linked down below and in sustainable options as well so you
can go have a look at the description when you're done watching this video.
Don't forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel if you would like to see more
of these kinds of videos and then hopefully I will see you very soon for another one.
Bye guys!
