Yuji Nishida | Height - 186cm | Spike - 350cm | Monster of the Vertical Jump. Yuji Nishida (西田 有志, Nishida Yūji, born 30 January 2000) is a Japanese left-handed volleyball player. Currently Nishida plays for Panasonic Panthers at club level.
Nishida made his debut with JTEKT Stings at V.League on 6 January 2018 in a match against Osaka Blazers Sakai. His impressive debut at the young age of 17 soon earned him a position in JTEKT's Starting 6,[5] as well as Japan men's national volleyball team. Nishida led the national team to seventh place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, its best result 29 years.
We would love to come up with something similar.
Oh, Nishida paints that line.
The fact that he's so precise down that line makes him so dangerous.
Man, that's...
Catches the net.
Oh, what a snap. That angle is absolutely devastating.
It destroys the Italian block.
I mean, what block?
He just goes power down the side.
Oh, my God.
Nowhere in sight, leaving him.
Sekita made that dig that went the way of Slovenia.
Slovenia came back, got another one on the back of it.
Nishida close to the line, on the line.
He's done it again.
I mean, you said the word clinical, and that was clinical.
Let's have a look.
Oh, man.
Kovacic almost can't believe it because it goes over his left.
It means that Mozic can continue from the service line into Rahn.
Good one-handed touch.
Kovacic.
Oh, no.
Can only find Yamamoto.
Got some great rallies.
Oh, no.
Oh, unbelievable.
Nishida.
Oh, my God.
This is crazy.
Unog can go again.
Blockers are up.
Another dig.
Sekita.
Nishida.
Unbelievable.
Are you kidding me?
Dave.
Just unbelievable stuff.
Particularly, I mean, there's the swing that kills it right there.
That classic Nishida swing down the line.
And then the celebration, the blonde bomber.
Love it, but that's...
Beams that.
There's that noise again.
The roar goes on inside the Mall of Asia arena.
They love it when Japan hit hard and heavy.
Holding this four-point lead.
Closing in.
And winning the second set.
Nishida.
Slams down another race.
Scary good.
At number one spot.
If I've done my math correctly, which is highly possible.
I haven't, but I'm putting it out there.
Some way to finish by the way.
By what looks like being a meeting between the top two in this arena.
Japan and Poland.
Oh, yeah.
That's going to go absolutely off the walls tomorrow.
Nishida.
He's something of a cult hero, isn't he, Brad?
I mean, a lot of these Japanese players are, but there's something about Brad.
The way he connects with the Japanese and indeed Filipino fans.
Chance for the swing.
Look at that.
Nishida winding it up again.
And the crowd go wild for it.
They're mad for it here.
There are no players they would rather see on the court than these ones from Japan.
Nishida is such a spicy swing down the line for him.
And he's hyping up the crowd.
He is absolutely loving it.
And by the time they do, it's too late.
Nishida.
What a way to bring up the ton in the VNL.
An ace serve.
And he becomes the 29th player in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League to reach 100 points.
What a way to do it.
With an ace.
Nishida down the line.
Well, really sneaky.
Watch his action on the replay.
Very deliberate.
Here we see it in slow motion.
Very last moment.
And then.
Two serve faults thus far for Romano.
His latest attempt is in play.
There's that slide again.
And Nishida on the money once more.
Swinging that samurai sword again.
Eugene Nishida.
He is looking so calm.
And the way that he unfurls on the ball.
That is absolutely fantastic.
Whoa.
What a serve from Eugene Nishida.
Good pass.
Nishida.
Oh, wow.
That's it.
A bullet.
A bolt from the blue.
Nishida.
Such power in that.
I mean, he's coming in fresh for Miura.
Absolutely.
Using his speed.
Pass from the libero.
So we see that Micheletto rejected.
There goes Nishida.
That's crafty.
Takes off all the power.
And just dinks it down the side.
And you'll see him do this often, right?
We know he can swing hard.
The blockers do too.
And that's why the libero is stuck a little flat-footed there at the back.
Russo on serve.
There's Sakita.
Tricky from Nishida.
That's a really, really wily finish from Nishida.
Great approach.
He's working with what he can.
Again, we'll talk about his height battle over and over again.
We'll take the glory there.
Sakita again with that serve.
Black.
Oh.
Nishida.
Sensational point.
I mean, it was as much about the dig as it was the spike from Yuji Nishida there.
This was proper teamwork from Japan.
Look at that.
It was.
It's a nice little tactic to speed the game up,
particularly as it gets to the business end of the sets.
But we are back underway.
And Nishida does what Nishida does.
Nishida doing Nishida things right here.
Big time.
Swinging hard into the hands of the block.
It's going to get him excited in this second set.
Kozimernik to serve into Ran Takahashi.
Oh, Nishida.
He has taken the heat off that.
And Mozic, very close.
That's a couple of big ones for Mozic already.
Sakita, Nishida, another chance.
Can't find the floor.
Shevel keeps it up.
Mozic.
Great patience.
Sakita recycles.
So smart from the setter.
The rally continues.
Kozimernik.
Oh, overbump from him.
Second ball.
Third ball.
Oh, Japan.
Japan, Japan, Japan.
I mean, what did we just witness right there, Dave?
I don't even know.
Block gives you.
Big service.
Forces the overpass.
And a block touch.
Still with Japan.
Another good block touch.
Oh, Kozimernik.
Working overtime.
An unlucky.
He was lovely.
Nishida.
He waits.
Then he decides.
They're giving themselves so much time in the air.
It's incredible.
I mean, it is almost cartoonish how much hang time he has.
I mean, you think about basketball players like Michael.
The gap now.
Sliced down to one.
Nishida.
Hits across.
Gianelli can't pass.
So Romode takes a step back.
And it can't possibly anticipate where that pass is going to land.
From Gianelli.
Romode just called out a little there.
Look at it.
It's contributing.
Gianelli.
Did that serve to the line.
It's a good pass.
Nishida giving the chance into that block.
Yeah.
Good transition there.
With a work from Matsuka.
It's a receive.
And you see Nishida turning that.
It was passed and gone.
Forget about it.
Move on.
Nishida.
Yeah.
Go to Nishida.
Into those high hands.
And the ball just squeezes away to nothing.
And Japan restore their four-point advantage.
Great serve.
But again, yeah.
Italy can.
Or Japan, I should say, can really work.
To that line.
A bit of a chop there with that pass.
Then Nishida.
Finding all the answers.
Whether it's with those authoritative power spikes.
Or the little rolls off the side of the blockers.
Going for tips as well.
