Chuck Schumer is ‘really seeing the writing on the wall’: GOP lawmaker

It's great to see you again, Congressman. Always a pleasure to have you on.
Shouldn't Democrats just be stopped for the simple fact of setting a bad precedent
of holding the country hostage with a shutdown because they couldn't get what they want in
legislation and they're forcing Republicans to do what Democrats didn't do when they were in power,
spend $1.5 trillion on expanding things like Obamacare.
Yeah, 100%. It's good to see you too. I don't call this a shutdown. I call it a shakedown.
This is 100% the Senate Democrats pretending that they are saving America from something that
they're actually advocating on behalf of Americans. Meanwhile, they're doing everything really
possible they can to hurt Americans. You've got folks, excuse me, who are working without a
paycheck that are wondering how in the heck are they going to feed their families? They have
folks who are dependent like women, infant, and children on programs for basic things like
formula. And given an opportunity to pay these people who are working, Democrats said, no,
they're holding out so that they can give $200 billion to non-citizens for premium healthcare
plans and $400 billion to insurance companies for subsidies. Let's just stop playing games and say
what it is. This is a shakedown to the tune of $1.5 trillion and pet projects for the Democrats.
We reported yesterday, Democrat senators are starting to break ranks with the top
leadership. Cracks now opening in Democrats' unity. Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren
says the best thing to do would be to get the government open again. Democrat Senators John
Ossoff, Raphael Warnock voted with Republicans to pay essential workers like soldiers along with
Senator John Fetterman, but that Senate bill failed. So it looks like cracks are starting
to show in the Democrat leadership and the rank and file. Absolutely. I think Chuck Schumer has
a lot more to worry about than his grilling skills at this point. I think that he is really seeing the
writing on the wall. He has said he is all in because he fears more than anything else,
a primary challenge from AOC. But again, you have Democrats out there that are trying to stick this
out saying, no, no, we're really fighting for people. They lit the fire. Now they're pretending
to be the firefighters. This is not 1984. This is not George Orwell. We are going to actually be
out there telling the truth. And for the first time you see Republicans really on the offense,
which is really, really nice, a nice change from continually being on the defense.
I think the American people realize what's going on here. They see themselves being used.
I mean, Reuters, Ipsos polls show Trump's approval rating has ticked up two points
since the shutdown began. Other polls find it unchanged.
