Hello everyone, wishing you a day full of energy and joy in your garden.
Today, we will together perform an extremely unique method of propagating roses using onions.
First, prepare one onion with the dry outer skin intact.
Wash the onion to remove dirt, then gently peel off the outer skin. This skin is our main
ingredient. Next, chop the onion skin into small pieces to increase the contact area,
helping the active ingredients in the skin to easily dissolve in water.
Onion peels contain a lot of quiescent, natural sulphur and antioxidants,
which stimulate root cell growth and are also very strong disinfectants.
This solution not only helps rose branches root faster, but also prevents microorganisms
from causing root rot during the incubation process. Put the chopped skin into a clean glass
jar, then pour in 500 millilitres of boiling water. Stir well and cover tightly. Let this
wash it, peel it and cut it into small pieces. Apple peels contain a lot of malic acid,
vitamin C and polyphenols, which helps soften plant tissue, support nutrient absorption and
then take about 30 grams of onion, cut it into small pieces and put it in the same cup with the
apple peel. The combination of onion and apple peel creates a biological solution rich in natural
enzymes, which helps promote the formation of callous tissue at the cut and initiate root
growth in just the first few days. Next, pour in 500 millilitres of clean water and stir well.
Now, we choose a healthy rose branch free of pests and diseases and of moderate age.
That is, the stem has become slightly woody but is still flexible.
Use scissors or a sharp pruning knife to cut off all the leaves, sharp thorns and wilted petals.
Then, shorten the length of the branch to about 15 to 20 centimetres,
cut the base diagonally to increase the nutrient absorption area.
Immediately after cutting, soak the rose branch in the onion, apple peel solution just prepared.
Soak for 30 minutes so that the solution penetrates the conductive tissues in the stem.
While waiting, prepare a small clean glass jar and a piece of foam.
Use a knife or scissors to cut the foam so that it fits snugly into the mouth of the glass jar.
Next, use a small stick to punch a hole in the middle of the foam,
the size of which is equal to the diameter of the rose branch,
so that when inserted, the branch stands firmly without tilting or breaking.
After soaking for enough time, filter out the residue of the onion,
apple peel solution to collect the clear water.
At the same time, take the onion peel solution from the first step.
Mix these two solutions together to create a complete root nutrient mixture,
both antibacterial and stimulating strong roots.
Pour the mixed solution into a small glass jar until it is full.
Place the foam on top, then cover the mouth of the jar to limit evaporation.
Use a cable tie to lightly wrap around the middle of the flower stem,
both to fix the position on the foam and to help the branch stand firmly.
Then, insert the base of the flower stem through the hole in the middle of the foam,
so that the base of the stem is submerged in the solution about three to five centimetres.
Finally, use a transparent plastic bag or a plastic cup to cover the entire glass jar.
This helps to maintain high humidity, creating an ideal microclimate for the rose branch.
Place the jar in a cool place, away from strong winds and direct sunlight.
This is an important condition for the branch to not lose water and to root more easily.
After about 10 days, you will see the magic happen.
On the stem, green shoots also begin to sprout.
The base of the flower stem begins to appear with plump,
healthy white roots growing around the entire cut,
a sign that the branch has fully absorbed nutrients and is completely ready to be planted in a pot.
When the roots are about two to three centimetres long,
you can gently remove the branch and plant it in a pot,
with a well-drained substrate, ideally clean, slightly moist river sand.
In the early stages, the pot should be placed in a place with diffused light
and misted to keep it moist. After about two weeks, when the plant has completely taken root,
it can be brought to a place with more light for the plant to grow strongly.
The method of propagating roses with onions and apple peels is an extremely effective natural
secret. Taking advantage of biological compounds in plants to stimulate roots,
nourish branches and fight bacteria without using chemicals.
This mixture is both safe and helps the rose branch develop roots quickly, thick and strong.
He foundation for the future seedlings to develop sustainably, produce many flowers and bright
colours. Try this recipe in your garden, you will be amazed at the results that nature brings.
Wishing you success with pots of green roses, bright all year round.
