Well, I'd like to do one more song for you, and then we can get together in the back and talk.
I'll tell you a little story, a true story.
I'm a very fortunate fellow. I got to see Jimi Hendrix play three different times.
Twice in Texas, once in Baltimore.
I also got to record in Electric Lady, which is Jimi's studio in the West Village in New York.
And the story goes, Jimi was walking out from a session at Electric Lady, probably an all-nighter,
and across the street he spies Bob Dylan, and he yells out,
Hey, Bob! I recorded one of your songs!
And Bob says, Yeah! And I like it!
Which is about as enthusiastic a response as you'll ever get from Bob Dylan.
So Jimi has his version of this next tune, Bob has his, of course, and I'll leave you with mine.
Thank you very much for coming. I appreciate your time and your attention.
Your most valuable currency, my friends.
There must be some way outta here
Set the joker to the thief
Too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Businessmen, they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of it is worth
No reason to get excited
A thief, he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
Because the hour is getting late
All along the watchtower
Watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside in the distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl
All along the watchtower
