Oh hello world ones, it is a gorgeous quiet day in the woods in October and I'm here today to
just hang out, carve a pumpkin, warm up some nice rice pudding on my little fire there
and I'm gonna hang out in the dark to see if anything spooky happens.
Hello?
Is anyone here?
Hey guys, I am absolutely loving this day camp, it is so relaxing here in the woods today.
I've got my Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 which is a very special tent but I am gonna be raffling it
so stick around for that. I'm gonna have a go at this pumpkin, probably not very well and I did
leave my trail cams out for a few days before I came for this little day camp today and the footage
on there is absolutely gorgeous. I've got deer, I've got a white deer, I think there's a badger
on there so I'll stick that footage throughout this video and we're gonna have nice autumnal
vibes today. But first things first, I need to get a brew on the go and then we'll see what I can do
Probably nothing very impressive. Here's Pumpy, I'm not sure exactly what to do with him.
What should we do with you Pumpy? Maybe a scary bear?
Hello, it's looking pretty clean in here, it's gorgeous, gaudious. Okay I've got him beautifully
scraped out and I need to decide what to do for a face. I was going to try a scary bear
but I don't think I can pull that off so I might just do a normal pumpkin but I'm well comfy here
on this chair. I got this for my son's football games but it's amazing for the day camping as well
because my body's not liking me sitting too long directly on the floor at the moment so
this gives me something to recline back on. Oh it's gorgeous, this is proper luxury today.
Right, let's sort a face out on Pumpykins here and then I'm gonna make some pudding I think,
some rice pudding. Oh it's gonna be lovely. Oh maybe I should attempt a bear. How's a bear?
Like two eyes, a nose and like a mouth like that. Let's try it, what's the worst that can happen?
I don't know what any of these gadgets are for particularly. Let's make an eye here.
Oh oh wow that's amazing, oh that's so easy. Why is it taking me so long to get a proper
pumpkin carving kit? Look at this, two eyes coming right up. Wow that'd be a pretty weird pumpkin
just like that actually wouldn't it? Right if I put a nose here and then like a creepy mouth.
All right, okay nose.
This is actually gonna look like a five-year-old made it but that's fine you know,
we're being creative and we're having fun.
It doesn't look like a bear I think, I think it needs a rounder nose.
Yeah bears have round noses don't they?
Oh it looks so genius, it looks really cute.
Yeah I'm gonna do like a big scary smile.
You know what, it kind of does look like a bear a little bit. It needs some teeth.
Do bears have eyebrows? I don't know, right let's fang it up.
Oh I love him.
Hey friend, I think bears do have eyebrows. I'm gonna give him some.
Oh yeah he looks like a right meanie now.
That's what he needed, he just needed eyebrows. Well that's not too bad actually.
lovely rice pudding on, let me show you my tent. My Naturehike Cloud Peak 2, this is a two-person
tent. It's fairly heavy so I don't use it anymore, I'm more into the lighter trekking pole tents now
but this is a really special tent. It's actually the tent that I started Wild Bear with and it's
the tent that I took on my first ever multi-night adventure in the Rynnocks. So it's very special
and this will be a perfect tent for you if you'd like a two-person, if you don't mind a little bit
more weight and it is gorgeous. Look, two doors, two vestibules, loads of room. Yeah I will be a
little bit sad to see that one go but it'll bring someone else many happy adventure memories I
reckon. So if you would like this tent, tickets are just £1 each, there'll be a link in the video
description and in the pinned comment as well and for now I'm gonna get my rice pudding going.
Oh wow that's creamy, oh that's gorgeous. A little bit of cinnamon as well, perfect.
Hey guys, I think it's going to be getting dark soon which is very exciting and hopefully
some nice ghouls will come out and give us a bit of a spook, you never know. But a quick update on
what's going on with me with all this, I've been started a few days ago on inhaler treatment for
the breathlessness which hasn't done anything unfortunately. Yeah the inhalers aren't working
because I don't have asthma but it was worth a shot. I've still been trying to get to the bottom
of what it is that's gone wrong because the pectus I will likely have always had and I did fine with
it before and all this pain and breathlessness is a new thing that's been developing over the last
year or so and it's got to the point now where you know it's stopping me doing a lot of stuff and I'm
uncomfortable and in pain a lot of the time so having this severe pectus and the heart compression
is not the full picture because I still don't know what's changed and therefore I don't really know
what needs fixing. Okay so the bone scan and a private MRI have shown that I have inflammation
through my sternum and my spine. I've been trying to get my spine looked at properly for years but
had no luck so I guess whatever rheumatological problem is in there has now spread to my chest
and my sternum's compressing on my heart of course so this feels real horrible with it
being inflamed as well. It's now a year and a half since the breathlessness started
insidiously creeping into my life
and nine months or so since it started hurting in there so
the question is what else has it affected and has it done something to affect my pulmonary function
and most importantly can it be reversed? Yeah so I'm still just sort of hanging in there really
doing a little bit here and there of what I can manage in the way that I can manage it
and lovely Ash has helped me carry my stuff in and out for this again which is amazing thank you Ash
and yeah I mean it's a really weird time it's been a really weird year
very unexpected but hopefully it'll all come together in the end yeah like magic
I think I'm gonna burn through the rest of this wood and then I'm gonna sit in the dark
and wait for the ghosts. Right it's dark and my coals are out and nice and cold
I'm gonna turn all my lights off now and sit in the hot seat here in the dark I've got two
trail cams out facing the chair so you'll be able to see me but I won't be able to see anything
apart from maybe a scary bear there we'll leave him on and yeah we'll see if we can get some ghosts
to come and talk to us oh I do hope so okay I hope the trail cams are working
picking me up their motion detectors so hopefully they're on otherwise I'm just
talking nonsense to myself but yeah it's very dark now and I'm gonna sit here for a while
and just see if any ghosties or ghouls want to come and make some contact with us
well so far no ghosts yeah I mean it doesn't look like we're gonna get any ghosts tonight
maybe they're here they're just shy ghosts can be shy can't they ghosties
if you're a frustrated entity make yourself known this is so relaxing well it doesn't seem
there are any ghosts or ghouls out tonight but I've had a lovely time just hanging out with scary
bear there I've loved just having a day camp today so if you're not very comfortable with the whole
overnight sleeping in the woods thing just try a day camp have some quality outdoorsy time yeah
thank you so much to lovely Ash of Ash Outdoors UK who has helped me bring my stuff in and out
and thank you guys for watching for hanging out with me
and I hope your autumn is lovely and cozy so far and I'll see you again soon
