This is Leeds Castle, one of England's most beautiful castles
and it's located in Maidstone, Kent, just one and a half hours from London.
Stay tuned as we tell you more about this fantastic place.
Good morning guys on this glorious day from Leeds Castle in Maidstone. We're off to check it out
today. It's 31.50 to get in and that does give you entry for the entire year to enter the place.
I'll post the address details below. Let's go and check out Leeds Castle. Let's go.
On the way into the castle you'll pass the coffee shop and gift shop at the entrance.
Just to make you aware it is cheaper to buy your tickets online before you go in
as it does save you about £4. Once you pass the entrance you will pass the many fantastic lakes
they have here in the grounds. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the ducks and geese that you will
see. One of the first really interesting things you'll see here is a wood sculpture of Aragon the
Dragon which is a really interesting feature next to some bamboo trees. A little bit further on you
will see a really nice water feature where you can see the castle lurking in the background in
the mist. We was really lucky on our visit the sun was out and we managed to capture some really
great footage today. The present day castle mostly dates from the early 19th century. Its last private
owner was Olive Lady Bailey. She left the castle in trust to open to the public. It's been open since 1976.
So we just walked up past a couple of the lakes guys and now we've arrived at the castle behind
me and look at it absolutely beautiful. One of probably the most prettiest castles in England I reckon.
As we made our way around to the castle we passed some really interesting
old pieces of it which are ruins of the castle when it was very first built.
A castle has existed on the site since 857 and King Henry VIII also used it as a home for his
first wife Catherine of Aragon. The castle shop has some really great things you can buy
and you can find things like armour, swords, helmets and a whole lot more.
Next we're off to explore the beautiful inside of the castle. The first room here is the beautiful
library and next to it you'll find the meeting room they have. There is a projector here which
shows a time-lapse video of the castle changing throughout the hundreds of years. Passing through
the hallway we enter the very grand private dining room. You can imagine there were some really lavish
dinners here. Going further along the castle you'll see the courtyard in the castle with a very
interesting water feature. Continuing on through the castle we pass the games room and private
writing room which are really interesting rooms in the castle.
The next area is an open plan entertainment room where guests would mingle. The boudoir is a very
interesting room and you'll find a bedroom next to it with a dressing room and bathroom.
We next encounter another lovely bedroom here with a meeting room.
The yellow drawing room is another beautiful room here and it is filled with colour and
grandeur. We discover another beautiful lounge here that has really great things you can see.
If you're looking for another stunning castle to visit in the area of Kent
may I suggest checking out Rochester Castle which is only about a 20-minute drive from Leeds Castle.
Leeds Castle has some really great lakeside lodges you can stay in which provide stunning
views of the lake. Also on the lake there is boat rides you can take in the summer months.
Another great thing you can do at Leeds Castle is the excellent Segway tours they have running,
certainly looks great fun. After seeing the castle we follow the path along to the right
which passes a courtyard where you find a restaurant and can grab a bite to eat.
On the next section here you'll wander through the lovely garden that is growing into the season
at the moment. Leeds Castle has a fantastic play area for the younger ones as well as a great mini
golf course. The bird of prey centre they have here in Leeds Castle features some fantastic
birds from across the world. They do have a bird display show which starts at 2pm.
Next we got lost in the fantastic hedge maze and grotto they have here.
Do allow a good 30 minutes as you're probably going to get lost in it like I did.
The grotto has some really interesting things to see inside and it kind of reminds me of the
grotto in Pains Hill in Surrey. After this we follow the path back to the exit and admire
the stunning beauty of the area. Leeds Castle is hosting some really great events in 2025
such as the Queen's Joust which is running on the 24th to the 26th of May
and Motors by the Moat which is running on the 9th and 10th of August.
Well guys that's our visit to Leeds Castle done and dusted. I hope you did enjoy it,
I really enjoyed it here and it was a beautiful day. Lastly I just want to say thank you very
much for watching. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe and I will see you in the next video.
Bye for now!
