Hear from Abbi Pulling on her journey to become a professional racing driver and why the Formula E Women's Test runs deeper than just racing as she aims to inspire the next generation of women in motorsport.
I've been racing since I was eight years old and it is literally my way of life.
The whole reason that I'm racing is because of my dad. He is the one that drove me to
the race tracks. He'd give up every weekend for me. I'm so lucky that he was willing to
make all those sacrifices for me. There was always those who said that racing wasn't for girls.
I remember being in go-karting and it was always the boys that were at the front and there was
another girl. She'd be fine at the front getting podiums. Seeing her being able to do it made me
think oh I can do that too. It takes sacrifice and hard work. It's long long hours training,
testing, improving, constantly learning every chance you get. In any walk of life
there's a lot of highs but there's also more lows. This year has been a really hard point for me.
I've had so many people making sure that I am still enjoying myself and keep bettering myself
no matter what. The direction that motorsport is going in is majorly positive. It's a place where
I want to be and now lots of younger females want to be. I want to be the best not just
to prove it to myself but because I want to show the way for the next generation.
