Today we're going to be trapping these rope fish here with this DIY fish trap.
Dude, it literally looks like we're in the Amazon right now.
He's at the surface. Dude, I saw one. We got one.
They're literally like eels, dude, or snakes.
What's up, BFB Nation? Welcome back to another awesome video.
Guys, I am super pumped for today's video because we're trying to catch an ugly fish
for our new ugly fish tank. If you guys haven't seen the videos,
basically we set up a 55-gallon fish tank and we're going to put all the ugliest fish
into there. Instead of going like the normal fish
keeper route, which would be putting the coolest and prettiest fish into a tank,
we're going to be putting the ugliest fish into there.
So far, we had a freshwater lionfish that we had to give away because I didn't know it was
actually brackish, even though it's labeled as freshwater. We had that. We have a goby in there,
which is very freaking ugly. That's on Brandon's channel. I'll link that in the description.
We have a gar and we also temporarily have a vieja cichlid.
He's in there just for a short period of time until we build our new pond. But yeah,
basically our ugly fish tank is coming along and right behind me is a spot. I think we can
catch a very ugly fish for it. I'm very excited. Hopefully we can get one today.
That fish is called a rope fish. Now we caught one of these here in the same spot on the channel
a while back and I actually forgot about these fish until I was like thinking, I was like,
what's an ugly fish? And I was like, oh, rope fish. Oh wait, I can catch those in the wild.
Yeah. They're not native to Florida. Obviously they're invasive. You know, people let them go,
like there's houses right there. I'm sure they just let them go in here and now they're
repopulating today. We're going to trap them in this DIY fish trap I just made. Let me show you
guys how this will work today. We're going to be catching these fish in this tiny little Creek
here. I don't even know what this is, but it's such a sick spot. I just set this up today. So
basically take off the lid to see a little bit. We got two pieces of strip in there for bait.
These things are fricking smelly. Oh my gosh. All the fish are going to go in there. But yeah,
basically we tied up a bottle to this. We cut a hole in this fish bin, put a bottle in. So the
fish swim in and then they cannot get out because once again, they are very stupid having the funnel
like that. I don't know what it is, but these fish, they, they can swim in obviously. Cause
it's a bigger hole. They go in and then they cannot get out. That's how this fish trap works
guys. Hopefully it works today because I really want to catch one of these rope fish. They're
really cool fish. If you've never seen one, they've got like orange on them. They look like
a fricking snake, dude. They look like an eel. So let's close this bin up and let's walk down
this guys. Look how cool this spot is. This looks something straight out of the jungle,
but we're literally on the side of the road. When I walked up, I saw, I think there were
jewel cichlids, lots of jewel cichlids in here. So let's go. Oh gosh. Spider webs everywhere.
Guys. I don't know if you can see it, but on top of the water, there's so many wakes. I don't know
what kind of fish they are yet. Look, look at all the wakes, dude. Wow. Look at this guys.
It's way clearer now than I was here last time. Last time I was here was super murky.
Dude, it literally looks like we're in the Amazon right now. Look, it just keeps going down. It's
like a little tiny river. That's so cool. Okay guys, here we go. We're coming out of the jungle.
I think the best spot for this trap would be somewhere in this little sliver. We put it right
here so that in case they are out in the open, they can come in. I don't really know where these
fish sit. I feel like they like sit under rocks or something or like they tuck themselves away
somewhere. I'm going in. We got our fish trap here. We're going to place it and hopefully we
get ourselves a rope fish. Right there. Good to go. The trap is set guys. Let's get out of this
water. This is kind of sketchy. I bet there's so many snakes in here. Okay guys, so we placed the
fish trap. It is set. This is my first time ever using this fish trap, so hopefully it does work.
There it is down there, dude. It looks good. And the hole is facing out here to where it gets all
open. So I think all the fish, they're going to smell that shrimp and they're going to come find
it. Cross your fingers guys. Go down there, hit the like button. Let's hope we can get a rope fish
today. I think it would look super cool in the ugly fish tank. So yeah, for a little bit, I'm
just going to walk down this canal and see if I've seen anything really cool. Oh, I just remembered
there's another little ditch runoff thing over here. We actually made a video saving fish out
of here. Yo, look at this. Dude, it's all dried up. I got so many comments that video saying,
dude, leave the fish in there. They're not, they're not trapped. You're not saving them.
They're not going to die. Look at this guys. Huh? What is that? There's no water. Now it's really
just a waiting game. We just got to wait for the rope fish to swim into the fish trap. So
I'm going to give this one two, three hours. We'll see you guys then. The spot is right over there.
It's been about two and a half hours. We're pulling up to the spot now. And uh, I got a
good feeling about this dude. I really hope we get one. I want to show you guys because you know,
our channel has grown a lot since that one video we've caught them. So I want to show all of you
guys this fish. Let's do it guys. Let's get one of these rope fish. Pause. There's a play go.
Where's the play go. Okay. Pause guys. Side mission. Before we check the trap,
we have to grab this. Oh, Oh, there it goes. Oh my gosh. I kind of want to grab him guys.
The fish traps right there. It can wait. It can wait. Okay. There he is.
Hopefully I don't sink like 10 feet. You're absolutely done.
Oh, I had him. Oh, he's got blue fins. There you are. Get over here. Oh, I'm thinking,
Oh, just, Oh my God. Oh, I'm so stupid. Okay. Let's check the trap. Okay. We have a bucket
and an aerator on standby. I don't think the aerator even works. No, it doesn't. Okay. That's
great. Why is it every video I'm like getting dirty. I'm getting wet. Look at my legs, dude.
Hold on. I'm trying to see if I can see one. Oh, Holy. Holy. Oh, he's trying to get out.
Oh my God. He's at the surface. Dude. I saw one. We got one. We got one. Yes. Holy crap.
My leg is freaking stuck. My leg is stuck. Oh, I just broke the flip-flop. Oh my God.
Okay. We got one though. We got one guys. Check this out. Oh my God. Oh, that's so cool.
Mission freaking success, dude. Oh, he is so sick. That is called a rope fish. Yo,
I think this one is actually bigger than the one we caught before.
They're so cool. They're literally like eels, dude, or snakes. Hold on. I want to show them,
dude. I don't even know how to like show them off for you guys. They're so hard to hold.
Look, I can't even hold them. Oh, look at that. Yeah. He loves the shrimp. That's his little
blanket. Look at his little fins. So cool. Come on. I want to get a good look at you for the,
for the BFP nation. Look at this. I don't even know how to hold them.
I don't even think you can. Oh, he's trying to get out. Can I hold you?
Okay. You know what? Forget it. We're just going to, okay. We're putting you in the bucket.
You're pissing me off. We got some little mosquito fish too. Hello guys. You're pretty stupid.
All right. There he is. Now you can see him a lot better. Look at that.
So sick, bro. Get in the bucket. Okay guys, we got the rope fish in the bucket. Like he,
he's a very cool looking fish, but he is sort of ugly. You know what I'm saying? They can be both
ugly and cool. Like this guy is definitely really cool, but he is definitely not pretty. You know,
we're going to head back to my house guys. This guy's impossible to hold. I think once I put them
into the fish tank, you'll really be able to, you know, get a good look at them. What I'm trying
to show you. Let's freaking do it. Okay guys, we have made it back to the house. We're here in
front of the ugly fish tank. We got our rope fish right here. We did a little acclimation. The water
temperature is exactly the same. We're going to go ahead and get this guy into the ugly fish tank.
And then we're actually going to move the Vieja into one of the ponds. We're also going to put
this in here. I think this will be really cool. I saw this from someone else. You put like a glass
bottle in there and they can go in there and you can actually see them because you know, it's
for them. They can hide and you can actually see them in there. So I put some sand in it. So it's
like, you know, a little substrate for him, but yeah, it looks so good. I probably can't even
net him either. These guys are so fricking slippery. Come on, come on, get in. There we go.
Look at that dude. It's like an eel. There he goes. There he goes.
There's the Vieja. He's going to be in this pond until we build a new one. Let me show you guys
a little progress. This is going to look amazing. It's going to be our best pond yet. We're going
to dig more out that way. That's really what I'm waiting on. I just got to find time to dig.
It's really deep. We got some huge fricking rocks for a big waterfall back there. It's going to be
awesome guys. You guys really liked the idea to put mitises in there, you know, just a pond full
of mitises and you know, other fish as well. Just really big, colorful fish. The Vieja, the mitises,
all those are going into that pond once it's done. Dude, look at him. He's like poking his head out.
He is so cool, dude. Oh my gosh. He looks like a snake. I think once he discovers this bottle,
he's going to, he's going to go in there because I got sand in there, dude. That's perfect. Gar's
doing awesome. Yo, I actually caught some shrimp down there. You can see them. There's like 10
shrimp in here. So I think the rope fish is going to love those. But yeah, very cool fish. Go explore.
Go find that bottle, dude. I want him to go into that bottle. Oh, if you guys are wondering where
I put the one I caught before a long time ago, I actually put him into the koi pond and I have not
seen him since. I have no idea where he is. He's somewhere in here. So yeah, I mean if I ever do
find him, I guess I'll put him into the ugly fish tank. But yeah, I don't think I'm ever going to
see him again. He's just somewhere in here. There's one of the Golgaramis. Dude, they are so cool.
There he is. Golgarami, they are doing awesome in here. Yo, I feel like every time I come out
here with a camera, you guys can't see Bruce because he's hiding. There he is down there.
Bruce, what are you doing? But yeah, guys, that'll do it for today's video. If you did enjoy,
go down there, hit the like button, subscribe if you haven't already. I'll see you guys in the next
one. Peace out.
