When Patrick Ta launches new makeup, the internet freaks out and Patrick Ta just so happened to
release three new makeup palettes and four new shades of his eyeshadow duos that were a little
bit controversial when they first initially launched. I'm giving you swatches, pros and cons,
I'm going to be applying them to my eyes so you can see exactly what you're in for. My name is
Amanda, I'm a professional makeup artist and I also review makeup products for a living,
so I'm going to let you know the tea and let you know if these are really worth it or not,
so let's dive into it. First things first, let's talk about the eyeshadow palettes. These are the
major dimension essential artistry edit palettes and there are three different color stories. There
is light, there's medium and then there is deep. I have the shade light. These are all matte palettes,
they have six shades each and they're also infused with hyaluronic acid and squalane. I actually like
every one of these palettes for different reasons and honestly, if you kind of mesh all three of
their palettes together, you kind of just have the major dimension three palette, the all matte one.
So right off the bat, I'm really curious if it's worth it to invest in all of these palettes or
to just get the major dimension three. I don't really know. There does seem to be a lot of similar
shades going on. If you know me, you know, I do love a neutral eyeshadow palette and these colors
are really pretty. They're a little bit more on the cool neutral side. They're not like super,
super warm, which I like. I would use all of these shades, just fun looking at this initially. I do
wish there was a slightly darker brown or even a black here. This brown is pretty and you could
use it as eyeliner, but I typically go for something a little bit darker. So I would probably
need to reach for another product, another palette, something like that to just give me a complete look
that I'm looking for. This is what the palette looks like swatched. These are actually really
buttery. Of course, Patrick Tom makes beautiful buttery formulations, but how are these going to
perform on the eye? Let's find out. And if you're curious about the price, these are $62 Canadian
and $44 American. I'm going to start by using this really light transition shade in the top
corner here. This is a really pretty, very light, cool brown. And I'm picking this up on a refer a
one brush. It's one of my favorite brushes. You can literally do pretty much everything with this
brush. It's so good. I'll link it down below if you want to check it out. I am noticing a bit of
fallout when I'm picking up these shadows. So hopefully that doesn't translate on the face.
I'm just going to swirl my brush on the back of my hand. Like I always do with my eyeshadows,
this prevents the shadow from getting patchy. It gives us a more even airbrushed application.
And I'm just going to start mapping on my crease in windshield wiper motions,
building up that color a little bit. I'm really going to diffuse this up towards the brow bone
and kind of into the nose contour area. And I'm slightly lifting on the outer corner.
I just want to really lift it kind of snatched effect for today's look.
This is a really pretty transition color. And this is actually blending out
really, really nice. I'm not noticing any fallout on the face. So it's just kind of in the pan,
which doesn't bother me. That is a really pretty crease color. That is very natural looking. It's
not too crazy and just blended like butter. Using that same brush. I'm going to go in with
the shade right underneath this one here. It's like a medium Brown shade. Same thing,
a little bit of followed in the pan, but I anticipate it's going to be the same on the eye.
I'm just going to build up a little bit more dimension in the crease with this brush here.
Ooh, that shade is so pretty. These are very buttery. And then I'm just taking a clean
blending brush to just softly go over those edges. I'm going to take that exact same color
and just run it on my lower lash line for a little bit of added saltiness and smokiness.
This is a refer Oh three pencil brush. This is so good for just like precise under the eye work.
You can really hug the shadow close to your lashes without making a big mess underneath your eyes.
That is looking so pretty. It's giving very Patrick Todd or maybe I'm delusional, but
I do really feel his inspiration and artistry in his products. And when I look at his work,
I'm like, okay, this makes sense. Oh. And I just want to mention I'm wearing colored contacts.
So if you're curious about which ones I'm wearing, I'm going to link them down below.
They're so natural looking and so comfortable to wear. So many colored contacts are extremely
uncomfortable, but these are actually comfortable. So yeah, I want to add a little bit of
smokiness. So I'm going to pick up that dark Brown here on a small smudger brush,
and I'm just going to start pressing that into my lash line, just kind of stamping it messily
at first. And then I'm going to smoke it out. This Brown shade is actually really pretty
as a liner. I was a little bit nervous. It'd be too light, but it's actually got a really
beautiful richness to it. So this might be a complete palette. These colors work so well
together. This is looking really pretty. I'm just going to take a small detailed fluffy brush.
This is her detailed blender, and I'm just going to go on top of that and just kind of like a blend
everything and smoke it out a little bit. It's supposed to be messy. It's not supposed to be
perfect. And of course, this is blending out really beautifully. I'm picking up a little bit
of that medium Brown shade that I applied a second. I'm just very slightly blending that
right on top for a bit more of a gradient. I am liking this a lot more than I thought
I initially would. I'm going to drag that dark Brown a little bit on the outer corner as well.
Just connect to this outer area. Give it a little bit more definition,
a little bit more smokiness on the lower lash line. This looks really good. These blend so
easily. They're very easy to work with. And these colors just look so good together. Usually I
struggle to get like a nice blended smokey kind of liner on me, but this with the shadow has been
very easy and no fallout on the face so far. So far I've been pretty pleasantly surprised
with the whole experience of this palette. These shadows are super buildable and very
forgiving. Like I feel like they just blend so buttery. So even if you make a little mistake,
which I think I did here, I added a bit too much on the outer corner. I'm going to show you
how they just very easily blend. I'm just picking up this brush again with a little bit of that
deeper shadow, and I'm just going to blend, blend, blend. And already that looks way more softened.
If you know me, you know, I like a very pigmented, nice light cream shade. This one looks promising.
Let's test it out. I'm actually going to pick this one up with my finger just to see
how these apply with finger. I'm going to very lightly just tap that on the lid. Oh my gosh,
that is so pigmented. Oh, I should have went in with a brush that is so pigmented. Oh my gosh.
Okay. We're going on with a brush. It's so pigmented. I wasn't expecting that,
but I'm pleasantly surprised because sometimes with cream shadows, it's hard to find one that's
like actually pigmented that shows up on my fair skin. And this one is good. Although
this one's a little chalky. You can see, like, I mean, I didn't tap off my brush, but
it's a little, a little chalky there. Just make sure you're tapping off your brush when you use
these shadows or like I do blend it into the back of your hand, then that won't happen.
Let's try that again. Tap off the brush. Oh yeah, that is way better. What a beautiful
cream colored shadow that adds such nice brightness to the eyes. I'm going to put
that in the inner corner as well, just for a little bit of brightness in that area.
I think this is pretty much all I want for the eye shadow look. I was going to go in
with winged liner, but I actually really like this dark Brown as liner. I'm going to go in
with my makeup by Mario master pigment pro pencil in the shade, perfect Brown. And I'm
just going to apply that really quickly in the tight line just to make everything look really
seamless. Okay. So I've gathered my first impressions of the eye shadow palette.
I'm going to reserve my final thoughts. What I think the pros and the cons of this palette
are until the very end. Let's get into the new shades of the eye shadow duos. So Patrick
already had an existing shade range of these eye shadow duos. Like I said, in the beginning of this
video, these were pretty controversial when they first launched because of their price point.
One of these little duos is 57 Canadian and 42 us, which is a lot. Patrick Tom made a TikTok
or something talking about the price point of these compared to other shadows on the market.
These do have a lot of product in them and compared to other kind of similar brands,
luxury makeup kind of thing. This is actually, I guess, in the ballpark of what other brands are
charging, but nonetheless, it was a little bit controversial when they first launched.
I have never actually tried these duos. So I'm going to give you my real raw first impressions
today, but let's go through the new shades that Patrick has launched because they're so pretty.
The first shade is in your dreams. This is a brightening topper slash shimmer.
This is the lightest shade. I think this is the one I gravitate to most. The next shade is when
the sun sets. This is a warm glow, kind of like dusky shimmer. This gives a beautiful burnt gold
rose bronze sparkle. The next shade is always on your mind. This is a cooler taupey sparkle.
It's kind of like a taupe gray pearl. This would be really pretty on a smoky eye. And the last
shade is slow burn, which is a deeper kind of cranberry shimmer. This would be beautiful on
deeper skin tones. I've actually swatched every single duo for you to see them side by side.
The sparkle on these is just unreal. I found watching these so satisfying.
So just some general notes about this product. The base is more of like a translucent gel base.
So this is going to give you almost a topper like finish. It's not going to be metallic.
It's going to give you more of that ethereal sparkly twinkly glow. Patrick actually recommends
you use these on top of his matte eyeshadows for a bit of a scattered sparkle look. And that's
exactly what we're going to be doing today. We're going to add them on top of this eye look that I
created. I'm excited, but nervous to try these on my lids because they look so pretty in the
swatches. But one thing I will just say about the formula that I noticed when I was watching them
is they felt a little rough, a little gritty, a little chunky, but they look so beautiful.
I'm curious to see how they actually feel on the eye. If they're going to be comfortable.
I think this one goes really well with the eye look that I did today. This is in the shade when
the sun sets. I think I'm going to go into this kind of lighter gold shade here. I'm going in
with a refer O2 brush. Actually, you know what? I'm going to go in with my finger because I think
these are kind of meant to be applied with a finger, but I'll try it with a brush too. So I
picked up a small amount of that shade on my finger and I'm just going to tap that right onto
my mobile lid. Definitely noticing a scattered glitter look, and I'm noticing a bit of fallout
right away. I feel like I'm not loving the way my finger applied that. So I'm going to actually
go in with that eyeshadow brush. I'm going to see if this gives me a bit more of a precise
application. Hmm. I'm honestly not loving the way that's applying. It's not like sticking
to the lid. It's kind of patchy, which is too bad. There's a lot of fallout,
but it brushed away pretty easily. So that's good. At least not too bad. I'm going to try a
different lid and see if I have more luck. But before I do that, I'm going to apply a little
bit of an eyeshadow primer to my mobile lid to see if that helps because maybe it just didn't
adhere to the powder very well. I'm going to put a little tiny, tiny amount of primer on.
The shade is really calling my name. I don't know if it's going to mesh really well with the eye
look, but I'm going to try this top shade here in the shade always on your mind. This is a lighter
topi color. Let's try this again. Okay, that's better. I don't know if it's just the shade or if
it's the eyeshadow primer. This is way better. There's still a little bit of follow, but not
nearly as much as that other shade. Maybe it's the shade issue. That's really pretty. I'm going to
build up that shade a little bit more. Okay. This was really easy to apply with my finger as well.
That is gorgeous. Look at that shimmer. I hope the camera does it justice. The difference of my two
eyes. I don't know if you can tell, but this one is just chunky, patchy, honestly, really not cute.
And then this one is beautiful, glowy, scattered, shimmery, beautiful. Okay. Now I'm really curious
if it was just a shade issue. I'm going to apply a little bit of primer on this eye and try another
shade. Let's try the more cranberry palette. I'm going to go in with the lighter shade on top here,
just tapping that on top. Oh, that's pretty. That is really pretty. I'm just going to blend
the edges of these a little bit, just to kind of soften them up a little bit. They don't feel
chunky once they're on the eye. They do feel like a little scratchy when you're applying them on
your finger. But once they're on the eye, they're comfortable again, a little bit of follow, which
isn't, it's not too bad. It brushes away easy. It doesn't like adhere to the skin like crazy,
but I would maybe venture to say, do your base makeup first. If you're going to use these,
this is that cranberry shade. That is really beautiful. I am kind of curious. I think it
might've just been that the glitters didn't adhere very well to the already powdered eyes.
So I would recommend going in with a bit of a base, but it is possible that it was just kind
of a dud shade. I'm going to need to test it more to see what the cases. Now the shade in your
dreams is really the one that was calling my name. I'm just going to use this as an inner corner
highlight to see what that would look like. I really love an icy white glittery shade. That's
pretty. That added a nice brightness to the inner corner, but it doesn't look too intense. Like
sometimes inner corner highlight can look a little crazy. This actually blended out really well and
looks quite soft. I think that's all the eye shadow that I can put on my eyes. I'm going to
put some mascara on and then I'm going to be right back to talk about my final thoughts of my first
impression of these products. Okay. Mascara is done. Let's talk about my first impressions.
Do I think these are worth the hype? What are the pros and cons? Who's going to like this? Who's
not going to like this? Let's get into all the nitty gritty details. Let's start with the eye
shadow palette. One thing I just want to say really quickly, I always say this about Patrick
Tau products, but I am not a fan of the packaging. It gets fingerprints on it really quickly.
It's a beautiful, but it's impossible to keep clean. But let's talk about what's inside the
palette. These shadows are really beautiful. The formula is really good. The blendability is really
good. Okay. However, the major dimension three palette, the all matte one is $98 Canadian,
and you do get double the amount of shades. You get 12 shades instead of six for less than double
the price, obviously. So I think if you prefer a more wide range of colors, you might be better
off just to get the major dimensions three palette. You get the perks of having a Patrick
Tau palette with the formulations and the blendability and all that stuff, but you just
get more shade. However, the artistry edit six pen eyeshadow palettes. Okay. The formula on this
is incredible. The blendability is incredible. That's what you get when you get Patrick Tau
eyeshadows. You would like this palette. If you look at all the three different offerings and you
see them and you're like, yeah, I would use every single shade for me, honestly, after using this
palette, I would use every single shade. This is really great, but I probably would get more use
out of the major dimension three palette because it has a black in there. It's got a couple more,
just more of a variety of shades. And so I can kind of do everything in one palette versus
something like this. So I do think the major dimension three, you get some points in that
regard over these, but okay. If you like something a little bit more minimal, you want something a
little more small. This is a nice small size and you have six shades instead of 12. Some people
just want less shades. And if the color range speaks to you, you're going to love these,
the quality is incredible. I think ultimately, if you have the Patrick Tau major dimension three
palette, these aren't going to be necessary to pick up, but if you don't, and you want to kind
of get your foot in the door and try some Patrick Tau palettes, and you don't want to spend a hundred
dollars on the big palette, you want to kind of stick with this price point, the $62 Canadian,
US, then this would be a really good product to do. So, and you can pick from light, medium,
deep, whichever one suits you. And you're going to have a great experience with this palette
for the eyeshadow duos. These are beautiful, very satisfying to look at. I had a weird experience
with that gold shade. I'm going to test further. I do think my eyes turned out really beautiful.
I think the groundwork I laid with the artistry edit palette was beautiful on its own, but adding
these glitters to look really just accentuated it and took it to another level. I really love
this taupe shade here on my eye. And I didn't think I would gravitate a lot to that particular
color story, the taupey one, but I would wear this on an everyday basis. This is beautiful.
I like this as well. This applied really pretty, but it's not as much of what I gravitate to the
warm cranberry shades, but this would look really beautiful on maybe like a deeper skin tone.
Someone who likes warm shades. It's beautiful. I would hope for consistency among the different
shades, but I have yet to discover if it's user error or if it is a shade discrepancy.
What I would recommend to you for the eyeshadow duos is you don't need to get all of them. If
you see one or two shades that are really calling your name, definitely try them out. They're
beautiful and they look gorgeous on the eyes. And I'm sure they're going to last you a really long
time. You get two gorgeous shadows in there. And I think they really do bring your eyeshadow look
to the next level. You don't need all of them. Don't break your bank getting every single shade.
I mean, unless you want to. My general opinion on this launch, I like this launch. I'm a sucker
for a neutral palette. I like the artistry edit palettes. I would actually get more of them,
honestly, just because I collect makeup and I test makeup. And I'd be curious to see what the
other shades kind of offer. What looks you can create with them. Is it the most revolutionary
launch ever? No, but my makeup loving heart was really happy when I was applying these
shadows to my eyes, creating the look, the colors go so well together. They blend so good. The duos,
me personally are just kind of like an added luxury. They're not an essential,
they're beautiful and they take your eyeshadow definitely to the next level, but are they
completely necessary? I don't think so, but to have one or two is definitely a nice addition
to the collection. I genuinely forgot to mention this earlier, but I did receive these in PR
just because I receive products in PR does not mean I'm going to give them a rave review.
Anything you see me talk about on this channel is my honest thoughts and opinions,
