Does it look good?
Yeah, it should be fine.
With a destination unknown, I think it's probably the most water we've carried so far.
We're here and it's not at all what it looks like on the map.
I'm going to head over there.
I'm already too...
Oh, you're?
I know.
I got it back up here.
See if we get robbed or not.
Sometimes the best spots are the ones that surprise you.
When we first pulled into this stretch of Idaho, we didn't expect to find a place quite
like this.
Just miles of open desert, golden grass, and a river that glows in the morning light.
It's quiet here.
The kind of quiet that lets you actually hear yourself think.
We've been through the heat, the frustration, those generator battles, but standing here
at sunrise, it's hard to remember any of that.
This spot reminded us that boondocking isn't about perfect conditions.
It's about moments like this.
Wide open skies, a little bit of solitude, and finding beauty in the middle of nowhere.
It might've been hot and challenging, sure, but none of that was this spot's fault.
This place, this view, this quiet morning will stick with us for a long time.
And honestly, I'm glad we had this moment to soak it all in, because the road ahead
to Glacier National Park today is going to be longer than we think.
Everyone's asleep, and the remote start isn't working, so I turned it off, let me turn it
back on.
We need this to work so we can charge things up and get out of here.
You can do it.
Alright, Morgan beat me up this morning, and she said the generator is not running.
I'm going to open up the side here, get the filters pulled out, and see if we can do something
without pulling the car.
I'm concerned that whenever I took this apart the first time, that little actuator on top,
I didn't set it on top properly, and now it's having problems choking.
Even though things have been struggling, I think we've been abusing it a little bit.
It's been in some harsh environments.
I don't know that it's necessarily built for that.
So, what I'm hoping is, when I open this up, the filters are just dirty.
Considering that we've been in a lot of really dusty places, I'm hoping that would explain
why we've been having these other issues.
One more screw.
Let's see.
Well, it's definitely a little dusty.
That's a little dirty in there.
I don't know.
I don't think that's it either.
I can reach the choke and manually adjust it, so we'll just try that out first.
Well, that's a hell of a way to start the morning, so good thing is it's going now.
I think I've earned myself some coffee.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Before we can get out of here, we've got some stuff to do on the inside.
We're going to have kind of a long drive.
It's about eight and a half hours, so we've got to get cleaned up, packed up, and get on the road.
One of the best parts of boondocking is the freedom.
You decide when you leave, when you arrive, and how long you stay.
There's Owen running.
Owen's running a lap.
Oh, Layla got out.
We've learned not to move too fast in the mornings, to take our time, soak in those last few moments,
and appreciate the quiet, because once you pull out, you're moving fast and furious towards the unknown.
I feel like you're making a potion, and you're about to make like poison apples.
I wonder why you've been tired lately.
Oh, shoot.
It's usually the spouse.
It's called botulism.
Poison apples is not botulism.
Maybe you're poisoning them with botulism.
I'm making the kids yogurt and me coffee.
It's what all the spouses say.
How can I help you?
No.
You're strong.
Okay, you can go to the truck. It's fine.
Okay.
We're hitching up and heading out, and today's going to be a long one.
Does it look good?
Yeah, it should be fine.
Hold on.
Okay.
Nice.
One of those travel days that just keeps getting longer the farther you go.
Out here, every drive feels like a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
We're moving fast and furious towards the unknown.
It's saying it's taking almost nine hours.
And as it's going through Arco, should we just go to Arco and dump?
It's a fill for water, too?
Yeah, there was a fill for water.
Yeah, that's fine.
Chasing open skies and hoping the next stop feels like home, even if it's just for one night.
Good.
Okay, do I need to do anything? Did you do it already?
No.
Just sit there and look pretty.
I'll try, dang.
I think we're ready to go.
All right.
Should I blow their minds and not use hands at all?
The truck drives itself.
She's not doing anything, guys.
Which way will she cut her wheels?
Yeah.
Like a boss.
That freedom comes with a gamble.
Will the spot you want be waiting for you when you get there?
Will your big rig even fit?
It's funny.
It feels good to slow down after so many travel days, even if it's just for a little while.
What we don't realize yet is that the calm won't last long.
This timeline is about to stretch farther than we ever planned.
And by the end of the day, we won't even end up anywhere near where we thought we'd be tonight.
All right, so if y'all saw us last week, we stopped in at this Jack's Travel Plaza and they had the BRV dump.
And this is where we're going to dump at.
So this one's open May 1st to October 31st.
They have drinking water and they have the dumps.
Here's the poop hole.
Perfect.
We're curious.
Who's team glove and who's team I can just wash my hands when it comes to dry day?
Because if you know us, you already know.
Mark and I are never on the same team when it comes to the small stuff.
I'm trying to use their hose that they have attached here, but it won't seat properly.
So we finished up with the dumps.
And, you know, I'm not gonna lie, the dumps and the fill ups so far have been probably the biggest headache with the boondocking.
I mean, obviously.
So, right.
You have to locate them.
And that's not what I'm talking about.
It's not finding them.
That's the pain in the butt.
It's more the actual process.
It seems that we spend about, on average, about an hour every time we dump.
A couple of times we did a third.
We ran out early.
So we've been really trying to get it to two thirds or full.
I think it's probably the most water we've carried so far.
We have probably, I'm guessing, high 80s, low 90s of gallons in the tank.
While we're here, we're not anywhere near empty.
But there's no point in not filling up.
So we're gonna go ahead, fill up, and get back on the road.
Wow.
I'm trying to find a spot.
Since our thing is saying we're not gonna be there until nine something now.
We've literally been here for well over an hour.
I'm just telling them that the worst part about the boondock so far has been the dumps and the water.
I wouldn't look at the clock.
I was guessing.
So, yeah, it's probably been about an hour and a half.
Very easily.
Well, because it said we'd be there at eight.
Now it's saying like 930.
Yeah.
So I'm looking and it's kind of hard to find spots.
But I think I found one six and a half hours away.
The only issue is like a train drives directly by.
Like directly by.
There's a river on one side and a train on the other.
Okay.
I got something on the dirt.
One person posted like a video on it.
And it was just like a train going.
It wasn't really?
Yeah.
Oh my God.
How about like this?
There you go.
Maybe, yeah.
Train.
It's just not saying if big rigs can go there or not.
So, but I don't see anyone saying they can't.
But that would be six and a half hours away, which would be as far as we can get today.
Okay.
Well, we'll figure it out.
All right.
We're all emptied up, filled up with water, filled up with fuel.
With a destination unknown.
We're going to find out where we end up tonight.
I don't know what kind of time warp we enter every time we pull into a dump station and fill station, but it is getting old.
And yeah, I know we need a water bladder.
That would fix half of this problem.
But remember, we're on a bare minimum challenge.
No upgrades before or during our 42 day off grid run.
Now, we're here on the homestretch and I think we've earned a medal just for surviving dump station deja vus.
But once we hit the road again, it's all worth it.
We oohed and aahed the entire way, watching the world around us shift from dusty plains to winding rivers and endless ridges.
And for these Texans, this kind of landscape still stops us in our tracks.
Every turn feels new.
Every view somehow feels bigger than the last.
The kind of scenery that makes you forget the heat, the dust, and all the little frustrations.
For some people, Disneyland is the happiest place on earth.
But for us, it's this.
The open road, the wide sky, and the feeling that adventure is waiting just around the next bend.
Alright, if today had a theme, it would be changing our mind.
Very much so, yes.
We have picked like eight different places to go.
Maybe I'm being dramatic, maybe I'm not.
I mean, back and forth for sure.
We're an hour and a half away from the second location and I don't know, what happened?
Did you just see a Cracker Barrel?
I started seeing signs for a bunch of stuff and I saw a sign for Cracker Barrel.
We found a Cracker Barrel.
So this will be our first Cracker Barrel.
I'm feeling nervous.
Yeah, we'll see if we get robbed or not.
There are three RV sites that I can see from the satellite view.
And it just looks like it's going to be a nice big lot.
Well, as a bonus, that means we get to have Cracker Barrel for dinner tonight.
And then we have to have Cracker Barrel for dinner.
And I have eaten a lot of trash today, so I'm going to try to make myself eat something good, I guess.
Yeah, y'all excited about Cracker Barrel, guys?
I'm eating breakfast and lunch too.
Oh yeah, breakfast!
We're not staying here.
Breakfast and gravy!
Not lunch! We're not living at the Cracker Barrel.
We're going to figure out whether we're going to do dinner or we're going to do breakfast.
Alright, this place is gorgeous.
We actually started looking at land.
We're like, how much does land cost here, right?
It's expensive.
Yeah, so we're pulling in. We'll be there around 7.30.
That's another thing, I'm like, I don't know what's taking us so long today.
And I don't want to pull into our spot at night.
Anyways, we'll see if they have a spot.
An empty parking lot.
Shoot, worst case scenario.
There she is.
RV, look at that.
Oh yeah!
RV bus parking.
They're also parked here.
Are they going the other way?
Doesn't matter, I don't think.
The arrow is our way?
No, they're both ways.
Oh, okay. Alright.
We got set up at the Cracker Barrel.
And what was that?
I don't know.
Not us!
Did our truck just die or what?
I thought I turned our truck off. I think that was their truck.
That was strange.
So we're getting set up at the Cracker Barrel.
We're getting the animals situated.
And I guess we're going to get some dinner.
But I'm not sure if it's proper etiquette to open the slides or not.
But we're going to go ahead and do it.
At least this one right here.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're not bothering anyone with this one.
And we needed to use half the rig.
Good morning, y'all.
We spent the night outside the Cracker Barrel.
And tell you what, we got lucky.
So we were not the only ones with the thought.
Hey, you know what would be a good spot to stop at?
The Cracker Barrel.
So all evening, from the moment we got there,
everybody was circulating around us.
You know, sometimes you just get lucky.
And that's kind of the case that happened here.
There was RVs parked over here.
Then there was an RV parked over here.
There was a car parked here.
A car parked here.
But there was RVs here.
I mean, there's a van leaving right now.
There's just like all kinds of different RVs and vans.
So it's a very friendly camper spot.
Cheers.
30 days boondocking.
And I have never wanted a nice hot shower more.
Yeah, we've had some showers.
But they've been, you know, intermittent.
Few and far in between.
A lot of rinses.
Yeah.
And all of that.
Okay, so where are we going today?
So today we are headed right outside Glacier Park.
And we will be boondocking for the next week.
Kind of the last leg of our journey.
Yeah, kind of.
I just had to book a last minute ending
because I made a mistake on my bookings.
And I booked one of our spots in Washington early.
So that'll be quite the surprise
because we want to go out with a bang.
But today we're going to Glacier National Park.
We'll be outside of West Glacier,
which is apparently the spot to be.
There's one option that's more secluded,
kind of in the woods.
And when we say secluded,
I think what we learned are some areas
that are just more public when you boondock.
Yeah, yeah.
When I looked on Google Maps,
I saw just kind of like a big open space like the Teton.
Okay, so that's what I thought I saw too.
So it did look more open.
So it might still be more group camping at this site.
But this one still is kind of more in the woods
where the first spot we're kind of looking at
where it's kind of cool.
It's right underneath the bridge, right off of the river.
It's more of a parking lot.
Definitely a group camping situation.
And slightly closer to the west entrance.
Slightly closer to the west entrance.
So we're going to try to snag that.
Honestly, there are a lot of options here,
but not very many that have big rigs.
We are all ready to go.
All right, let's get out of here.
Nice.
Yeah, yeah.
He's okay.
He didn't hear me.
That's fine.
Told him he can make this turn.
Did you hear me yelling stop at you?
No.
Over and over and over again?
No.
As you took a tree branch with you.
Oh.
Well, we made a stop at the Safeway real quick.
We took potty break.
And we're like, you know what?
We saw the prices in Yellowstone.
And so I was like, let's go ahead
and pick some groceries up while we're here.
And the options in Yellowstone.
Yeah.
We got, I ran Owen off to go on a deaf run.
And he's just out there getting it done.
That's the deaf man.
So we'll be heading back,
getting on the road,
and we're over an hour out.
Wait, this is weird.
Yeah, it's like that side.
That's better, but there's more spots.
This side is better.
Is it?
If we can get down there, yeah?
Um.
Can we get down there from that side?
Right here, yeah.
Well, like, can we get to the beach from that side?
We can, but there's no one parked there,
like camping.
Just one person was on that side?
Wow.
There's a whole bunch of people behind us.
I know, we didn't make this.
Awesome!
Wait, isn't there a little river there?
Yeah, we're going to try to.
Oh, yeah, right there.
Cool!
What?
Okay, you can straighten up a little bit.
I'm trying to.
Did you touch?
That was deep.
I think you did it.
Yeah, but there's nowhere to turn.
Nowhere to turn around.
Right here.
I understand, this is not what I saw.
This is not what I saw either.
Oh, what was that?
Did we just drag?
Can we go look at it?
Are you going to look at it?
It's definitely not, it's not a camping area.
Oh, ----.
How do we turn around?
I don't know.
We're here, and it's not at all
what it looks like on the map.
And we may have gotten ourselves into a pickle
because it's all very busy.
And I'll show you.
It's like a one-way situation.
I would not recommend Blankenship Road.
It's the wrong side.
We have to be on the other side.
Huh?
Yeah, we have to be on the other side.
Bummer.
So, we're going to back out into the road, I guess.
I just don't want that to touch.
Looks good.
What about this grassy area?
Let me look at this.
All right.
Okay, you did great.
Yeah, now, the other problem is
I can't make that turn.
Yeah, I know.
I don't think.
We'll see.
One-lane bridge.
Yeah, so you're going to have to
maybe do a little something.
You did great, though.
You did so good.
Okay, one-lane bridge.
This is definitely where we need to go.
Yes, but it's very busy looking.
Do you even think there's room for us?
I don't think it is that busy.
I think there's plenty of spots.
I don't know.
We can get down there and look.
Okay.
Yeah, so I saw that bus.
That's what I originally saw
and thought we could go there.
Wow, it's so pretty.
We're going up.
Yeah.
They are trying to get us to go to Baja.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
Everyone's planning everything out.
Okay, so.
Okay.
Oh, you're going to make that?
I guess there is a thing.
We're not the only ones that have done this.
Okay.
I don't love this.
Okay.
It's too tight of a turn, I think,
on the other side.
Oh, no.
I'm going to head over there.
I'm already too.
Oh, you're?
I know.
I got to back up here.
Oh, you touched just barely.
I have to back up.
Huh?
I need to back up.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
Almost destroyed that tailgate.
You want to just pause?
We're going to go.
Huh?
We're leaving.
We're leaving?
Yeah, there's nowhere to go from.
All right.
That was a nightmare.
Yeah.
First of all, it's like really busy.
Super busy.
And I don't, we couldn't make that turn.
We just couldn't.
And there's too many people coming.
And we went from the wrong direction
because we missed it on the way in.
And we thought the other side was ours.
Unless we want to try it again from another angle.
We might.
We'll check this one out.
This one's only four more minutes away.
And this one was a little more secluded looking.
I don't remember if this one had water access or no.
No.
No, that one's way cooler.
And that river is beautiful.
We may end up back over here
trying to go down that again.
But there was no way from that angle with this.
Like, I mean, if I didn't stop when I did,
we would have.
You almost took out the bed.
I know.
That's what I was worried about.
Yeah, I have it on here.
Let me replay it.
That was scary.
I was envisioning all the pictures I've seen
of people like, well, we did it too.
Well, here we are.
Well, I never thought this would happen,
but it did.
It's funny because I always just worry
about the toolbox.
And then recently it's been,
I don't know why it's been more
as we've been watching to articulate,
start worrying about the bed rail.
Anyway, so we're going to check out the other one.
It's a little forest area.
It looks like it's a little cleared out,
similar to where we were in the Tetons.
I'm just hoping we get a spot.
First of all,
feeling so grateful that last night
we were just squirrely about getting here
in the evening.
And I'm glad we did.
If it wasn't like that,
we're like, this is where we're going
and that's where we're going to go.
And I don't care how long it takes
and we're going to get there today.
Right?
So way more flexible yesterday,
which is not in our nature.
So, and also one thing y'all don't realize
is you may have seen it already
at this point.
We did a live and that was today.
So we have to get set up
and be ready.
And, uh,
so we can do the live
and hope it's a good enough spot
to do the live on to internet
and all that.
So there are a few other complications
on all this.
Yeah.
We already didn't get to upload
our video today.
We're going to do a live and a video
same day and it's not going to happen
because travel days,
so many different reasons.
But anyways,
hopefully we can be more scheduled
in the future.
But so let's jet over to this place
and see if they have room for us.
No.
Right?
It's a little narrow-y.
But I'll let these, uh,
vehicles go by real quick.
They're going behind us.
Roof, roof.
There's a doggo.
Okay.
Not bad.
I don't hate it.
What is that?
I don't hate it.
Well, there's one right there.
You can tell it's like flattened
out right there.
You see it?
Yeah.
It's not bad.
Circle around.
Yeah.
Very unfriendly.
No.
Wow.
I mean, I don't know if I want to
be in a bowl, but I don't want to
be in a bowl.
Unless there's water down there or
something.
No.
Oh, there's a cherry tree.
Oh, yeah.
They're not ripe yet.
They're orange.
We're like, what are those orange
things?
The lady was selling orange ones.
Oh.
So that's our only spot?
Maybe.
I'll copy you.
Yeah, that's our spot right there.
The only spot.
Okay.
It's our spot.
Do you want campsite facing that
way, though?
Don't care.
I'll be honest.
I wasn't exactly my best self
earlier.
30 days off grid will do that to
you.
So, Morgan, thanks for keeping it
together when I didn't.
Oxblox hero
tonight.
Oh, wow.
I want to be an Oxblox
hero.
Sometimes this life brings out
the best in us and sometimes
it tests every bit of patience
we've got.
But we're here.
My side is higher.
Your side is more space.
I have more space.
You have more space.
I don't understand, but.
Those are even.
Like a fist there.
Yeah.
They're even.
About a fist.
Can you push that in a little
bit?
Just the whole thing.
Yeah, it looks.
We made it to the spot where
we'll explore Glacier
National Park.
And I couldn't be more thankful
to have my family and all
you along for the ride.
To everyone who watches,
comments and shares.
Thank you.
And to our channel members.
An extra big thank you.
All y'all's encouragement.
Comments keep us going.
Even on the hard days.
We've got some incredible
adventures ahead.
So stay tuned for the real
Glacier journey.
Yeah.
More space.
What?
I think it started to separate.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think it's.
Next time we finally make
it into Glacier National
Park, but not before
tackling one last
off-grid curveball.
While I was gone for a
meeting, Morgan had to
step up and take on her
first ever generator
oil change.
And let's just say it
didn't exactly go smoothly.
But once we got things
up and running, Glacier
made it all worth it.
From jaw-dropping water
falls and scenic hikes
to the hidden gems inside
the village and those
famous colorful rocks
at Lake McDonald's.
It's every bit as
breathtaking as people
say.
And of course, it
wouldn't be a glacier
trip without taking
you along going to the
sun road.
So catch us next time as
we enter what might be
the toughest stretch of
this 42 day off-grid
journey.
The part that pushes us
to our breaking point and
reminds us why we
started this adventure
in the first place.
