Our world has one interconnected ocean, a vast blue spans critical to life on earth.
There is no better animal to represent the story of the ocean
with all its splendor and uncertainty than the killer whale.
We live in every corner of the ocean from the arctic to the atlantic
from the southern and indian to the mighty pacific and beyond.
The killer whale story is the ocean story and it's one we all share.
We are one world guided by our own.
ability to get behaviors through our way active and engaged.
The New World Killer Whale was inspired to make races of guests to open up the museum today.
As trainers, we spend years building our relationships with our family of killer whales.
This creates trust and allows us to provide them with optimal health care,
research and quality of life through husbandries or medical behaviors.
One of the first husbandry behaviors our whales learn is a flu present.
We can ask them to roll over and present us with the underside of their tail.
Our veterinary team can come once a month and get a
voluntary blood sample from the veins that run along the underside of their tail.
Getting a blood sample is just one of the ways we're making sure our whales stay healthy.
Another important health care metric is monitoring our whales weight.
We can ask them to slide up onto a giant killer whale size scale
and lift their tail completely up and out of the water to get accurate weight.
Join me to demonstrate Porky.
Porky is an impressive 60 years old and weighs almost 8,000 pounds.
Behaviors like this slide out are visually stunning
but the real reason it was trained was to help monitor our whales weight.
We ask our whales for high energy,
powerful behaviors like reaches and jumps up and out of the water for great exercise.
This helps keep them healthy and that's the most important part of our job.
We strive to achieve this through diet, exercise, lots of love and even play.
And our whales sure do love to play.
Playtime is a great way for us to create new toys and games for the whales.
We love getting to see how they interact not only with the pods but with each one of us.
Please enjoy this playtime session between our trainers
demonstrating their incredible connection.
Let's have some fun!
They'll hunt pretty much anything from fish to gray white sharks
and even the largest animal on earth, the blue whale.
This whale is five times bigger than a killer whale.
So how's the killer whale aside from my taika?
They'll use their powerful tail flukes to slap, toss and throw.
This tires their prey making it easier to catch.
We may see killer whales carpeting or riding in the wake of a wave.
This is incredible to witness but in order to feel the amount of water in this place
I'm going to bring down two very special volunteers.
Let's go ahead and give them a big round of applause.
I see they need some encouragement tonight.
Come on down.
This is their iceberg.
You're going to go ahead and take a seat right here.
Hold on tight to that white handle so the whales don't wash you away.
All right, there's 5,000 of you guys out there tonight.
Let's make some noise.
Get ready to see them get wet.
Or get in heat.
They're each over 7,000 pounds, over 20 feet long and this is 55 degrees salt water.
They're on their way.
Here comes the whale and here comes that wave.
Three, two, one.
The skills and techniques that killer whales use to hunt their prey.
They can use their powerful tail flukes to stun fish.
But today I think they might be stunning all of you.
And that means it's time to get wet.
Killer whales are impressive animals.
It's pretty obvious why they're the top predator of the ocean.
That means killer whales are invincible, right?
Wrong.
Killer whales depend on a plentiful food source and a clean environment.
They are completely dominant and completely dependent.
When it comes down to it, killer whales are not the most powerful animals in the ocean.
Their future depends on you.
Renew our actions.
Through the choices we all make.
Hold the future of killer whales and the ocean in our hands.
Killer whales continue to surprise and amaze us.
They're the perfect ambassador for the ocean.
Limitless, connected, and powerful.
But still vulnerable.
The ocean needs our help.
Pat can't see mobile welding, but together we can make a change.
So much to learn.
So much to explore.
So much to project.
The ocean is facing significant changes, but don't give up.
Be inspired.
The killer whale story is still being written.
And there's simple things we can all do to make a difference.
All it takes is one.
One positive act.
One river that can grow and grow and change the world.
Together, we've got this.
And now, please join us for a one with organ and kinks.
And you just open your heart, shine like the sun.
Reach out your hand.
What a dream come true.
What a world is worthy.
Have a great rest of your day here at SeaWorld.
Bye everybody!
Bye!
