Overtake! World's first on this series.
Hello everyone, today is going to be epic because it is episode 4 of Sam Meats presented by Swatch
and for the final episode we find ourselves in the Champagne region of France at the newly built
Fies Farm to meet absolute BMX legend Mathias Dandoye. Let's go and find him.
Yo Mathias! Oi mate! How are you doing? Brilliant yourself? Good to see you. Good morning, how are you?
Mate this is amazing what you got going on here. So this is Fies Farm, a bike performance centre
for all bikes, road bike, gravel, BMX, mountain bike, everything with two wheels. We have
the world's best facilities and it's like Disneyland for bike riders. Wow, we can't
wait to get involved. Any of you who don't know Mathias here, he is a flatland BMXer, he's got
amazing skills, he's dancing on a BMX, super steezy. We want to see a load of that action
but before we do, should we both go and warm up on that huge pump track? I'm so excited,
it looks incredible. Let's do it, let's go over there. Let's see who is the fastest on the track. Yeah, let's go.
Here we go on this amazing pump track, look at it, sun's firing.
Oh yeah, overtake!
We're now going to do a bit of choreography and get something going together and this is going
to be a first sort of taste of flatland for you guys around this top edge here. Let's see it.
Oh my god, over the, oh wow, over the roller. Oh my god, that was unbelievable. Let's get some
choreography then and I'll try and go on the wall at some point. Let's go like that. See if that works.
Whoa! After some sweaty action on the pump track, it's now time to see what flatland is all about.
We are literally in the presence of one of the best flatlanders in the world, so expect some
very exciting stuff. Go on mate, perform for us.
No-handed. That's, wow, that is very impressive. Oh my god, wow.
Yeah!
Three. Oh my god, still going. What on earth? No way!
Yeah, amazing. Wow, you're the man. That's ridiculous. So that's flatland.
That's, that's, I can't even imagine that with my brain. Can you teach me a trick?
Absolutely. So you're going to put your left foot on the peg. Yeah. And with that right leg,
you're going to do like a round kick and then...
Really? Yeah. Okay. I might put a helmet on for that then. If you pull it, I put my pegs on your
bike. Okay. And I try some tricks, okay? Good plan. If I don't, you've got to do that anyway.
You made it look too easy. Right, so left peg, left foot on the peg, on the left peg,
then use that right foot as like a kick, no? Like kick it. There you go, mate. Okay.
No way, yes. Oh wow, I'm gonna get it.
Oh my god, I'm too fast. Yes, mate! Easy! Yes!
That was so good. I'm a flatlander. That was so good. Wow, that's well cool. Look at your face
when you pull, like you looked at me like, oh my god. Quick, look at me, look at me. Wow,
that's well cool. Well, seeing as you made it so easy and I done that so easily,
should we put some pegs on the mountain bike and see if you can do something?
That could be a world's first. Yeah, I'm not sure if I can do anything, but let's try anyway. Of
There you go then, sir. Oh my god. You have a slope style
flatland bike. This could be a new, a whole new sport. That looks insane.
I'm actually very excited. Oh my god. All right, back to the flatland spot.
Oh my god, that's crazy.
No way. It works. It works pretty well.
No way.
Yeah. No, what on earth?
Whoa, that's so cool. Wow.
Yes, this is working. I think that's world first, honestly. Yeah, it has to be.
World's first on this series. World's first happening on this series. That's
well cool. Here we go. Never before done on a mountain bike.
Wow. Oh my god. Yes.
Wow. What on earth?
That's the best. You should enter a contest on one of them.
That's incredible, man. You're the best. Whoa.
That's so sick. It looks like it works.
So good. Yeah. It just takes a lot more energy. Wow. That was so fun.
It's actually mind-blowing. That's so fun. All right, we're done then. Cool. See you guys.
Let's give this a go myself then. See if I can do what I've learned.
Oh my god.
I used the brake. Yeah, but it was good though.
That actually just makes you realize how much cooler you are.
It was already difficult on the BMX. It's impossible on this, and then you just done all
of that. We've seen some epic flatland action now. I've realized how difficult it is and how
awesome it is, even though I knew it was cool, but I hope you guys enjoyed that. It's now time
to go and check out the most beautiful-looking dirt jump line I've ever seen. Come on.
We're now over at the jumps. There's eight beauties in a row,
hips, race jumps, and trickable features, and it looks like the best thing ever.
Let's drop straight in.
This trail line, super fun, very technical,
nice and BMX-y. You got to land perfectly on each jump, which makes it a good fun challenge.
What we want to do now is get the drone out and get a nice follow cam of the
whole way down because it'd be rude not to. Let's get it done.
Wow, what a sick line on that Tucknerhander. The tire actually went on my face, gave me a
little kiss. It's quite funny, but what a perfect day. Jumps look great. Pump track was sick.
We got one more zone to check out though, which is that big skate park. It would definitely be
not to do a few tricks over there where Matthias is flat-landing. Let's go and have a look.
We're now just over from the jumps into this crazy skate park. The features are massive. This is
what the Olympic BMXers can train on. It's actually really impressive to see
the size of the quarter pipes they ride on the smaller BMX bikes and do huge flare whips and
everything. Me and Matthias are going to get into a bit of action in here for the finale of this
amazing day. It's been so cool. Let's get a little bar man-y on this feature then.
Wow, first go. Let's get jibby with it.
I'm actually blown away by the size of these features and how you get speed. Us mountain
bikers are used to having big steep hills. You just fly down and hit jumps. You BMXers are
quite something, aren't you? Don't get all big-headed watching this, BMXers. You're good,
but the grass is a bit long here. I'm just going to get lawnmower out quick.
What do you want to do? We could do side by side. I'll get a flare on there.
I'll do a cliffhanger there and I try to touch you with my hand.
Okay. I'll whip that horrible hat of yours off.
Oh my God. Yes. Oh my God. Oh my God.
Yo. Yes. No, we're so good at this choreography stuff, aren't we?
Choreography. Oh yeah. Dreams. Oh, nice little swatch train there. What an awesome end to the
day. Riding the skate park with you, mate. Thank you very much for having me at your new
compound here. This is incredible. Just seeing your flatland stuff fully in person is the best
thing ever. That was amazing. It was lovely to have you, Sam.
Cool. You've got a new sport now, haven't you? You're going to be a mountain bike flatlander.
That's it. That's my new career. Stay tuned because something might be coming.
We've had a little talk about that, haven't we? We won't say anymore.
Thanks a lot, Mattias. That was the sickest day ever. You have such an amazing compound here
and I want to say a huge shout out to Swatch for allowing me to make this series happen.
You guys are the best. That is the end of the video though. See you in the next one.
