A WEEK IN CROATIA- road trip the Dalmatian Coast, beach hopping & exploring Split!

Good morning everybody and welcome to the first official Eurosummer travel vlog. I'm coming at you this morning from Croatia. Let me prop you up and tell you what's been happening. Yes, good morning everyone and welcome to Split, Croatia, which is where we are currently right now. We actually only arrived here yesterday, but we're leaving this morning. After I left you, after the intense 30-hour travel day, we, what did we do? Oh, we landed in Rome and we had a night in Rome. We literally just ubered to a little accommodation place right by the airport, slept, woke up the next morning, went back to the airport and flew to Split in Croatia, which is where we are now. We have just spent a night in a very beautiful little Airbnb. Last night we, I took some clips so I'll put it in. Last night we walked down into the little like village, we walked along the water, got an Aperol Spritz, the first Aperol Spritz of the trip, then we got some dinner and then we came back, went to bed and now we're waking up early and we're going to explore the city of Split. We're staying like 20 minutes outside of Split, I think. It's called Stobric, Stobric, I'm pretty sure. So this morning we're driving into Split, gonna explore and then we're actually driving down the coast a bit to our next accommodation, which I can't 100% remember what it's called. Oh, I think it's called Omis, is the next accommodation we're staying. We're kind of jumping around a lot for the next week, so I'm gonna film a weekly vlog of our Croatian road trip down the coast. We are having a lot of technical difficulties though, one of which being our car we figured out last night doesn't lock, because we rented a car, so now we think we have to drive back to the airport to try and get a new car maybe, because we obviously need our car to lock if we're parking it in the middle of these busy places. So that's the update, right now it's like nearly 8 o'clock. We wanted to get up and out early but things take time when it's a family of five and there's a lot of luggage. I'll show you some of these pretty views at what I'm looking at, because it is so stunning and it's so warm. This is like the outside of our Airbnb, there's these pretty hydrangea flowers, and then, what are those, olives maybe? And then our Airbnb is a real mess, but I can show you a little bit of what it looks like. This was Katie and I's room. Say hi! Hello! We're just packing up all the stuff, so it's kind of crazy, and then through here we have the lounge. Say hi Tim. Hey guys, what's up guys? More packing. Say good morning, mother. Everyone's a bit tired, but we're on the move. We need to get moving. Oh my gosh. Look at the grapes, mum. Oh my gosh, look at these nectarines. No. Oh my gosh, raspberries! Yum! We just found the cutest little lolly shop, and got some lollies. So can I have my lollies? We're trying to find a cafe for some coffee, but we're struggling a little. But this is so cool. They're all like tiny little corridors, like the corridor style is so cool, but it means finding things is so hard. Can I have a lolly? Oh! What on earth? I can't get it. I got, I don't know, this green apple. What? How do you stop it? Oh, it is green apple! We found the cafe, but we don't know which one to get. It's probably this one. They actually had a flat white on the menu. How is it, mum? Is it good? Is it strong? What is that face? Oh. Let's try. It's really cold. Ooh, I like it. Mine is very strong. Smile, mum. I've got the camera out. Loki, if I don't have that much camera footage in here, it's kind of like, oh, there's jewelry shops. Can we just peak out? That is cool. It might be hella pricey, but I'm gonna go. Yeah, it might be very expensive. Let's have a look. Hello! Hi. Hello. Thank you. Anyway, we're gonna go and get some breakfast and some food. Coffee? What's good, though? We've just found this cool, I think this is probably like the center of Split, I assume. It's so cool. It's so pretty, and there's like restaurants and everything. Again, we're still looking for food, but we're looking, what's this, a souvenir shop. Oh my gosh, it smells so nice in here. Yum. There's so much like olive oil. I know. The pottery is so nice. What is that? It's so aesthetic, like, wow. We always get a fridge magnet up everywhere we've gone, so we're on the lookout for a Split one. We have come to, oh, what was that? This like puffy little, wait, it's literally called puffy little pancakes. Hi, could I please have one portion with lavender cream? You can choose all your toppings. Katie's getting lavender cream. I really feel like something savory, I think, so I'm gonna look for a savory supplement, but I'm definitely gonna try your lavender cream. How much was it? $6.50. Wait, why else $13? Why was it $6.50? Because I added coconut. Coconut? I don't know why. Ew. That was a real broke nose. And how much did you pay for coconut? One euro. Girl, it's gonna be like the tiniest sprinkler. I know, that was a little dumb. But yeah, this is a cool place. There's lots of very like trendy places around. They have arrived. Let's see. I know, you should have got Nutella. I want to try it. Can you put a bit of lavender cream in my mouth? I want to try some of the lavender cream. It's so purple. Ooh, I actually hate coconut, though. Oh my gosh. It's so lavender-y. What does it taste like? I want a pancake. Wait. All right, we have just come to the cutest little bakery, and we got a pesto cheese something, and this is filled with zucchini and cheese. All right, let's open up this. Katie's holding it for me. Open up the zucchini one. Ah! Oil up. Oh. Ah. I feel like we should have got the other one. Zucchini. It's got zucchini inside. Let's see. Oh, here he comes. Hello. Hello, puppy. Puppy. He looks cheesy. It's very like moist. Come. It's very cheesy. Hi, there. Hang on. Oh, this dog is going to steal. Hi. Oh, he's a little fluffy. Mm. The pesto's so yummy. I found a supermarket, and I love looking at overseas supermarkets. This is so cool. It's like got the old building. We went to... Oh, my gosh. I just freaked out. Look at the ground. We went to a supermarket in Italy yesterday, and it was actually... Oh, my gosh. This floor is scaring me. But the... Um, whoa. The supermarket in Italy was so cool. I feel like on first glance, the Italian one looks better than this. I want like a huge nectarine. At that market we were at before, there was a big nectarine. Oh, they have a bakery? I just love supermarket shopping so much. We've come back to the market because we want to buy some fruits and maybe some like other snacks. There's so many cute souvenirs though. Souvenirs? Whoa. Hello. How much are French magnets? Those small ones are cute. Hold my dress, mom. I have found such a pretty dress, but I need to try it on. This shop is like tiny as well. Look how pretty this skirt is. Yeah? Oh, is there a changing room? Guys, we are actually dying. I've never been so wet with sweat in my life. Can it be like 24 degrees in it? No, it's not. It probably is. It has to be more than that. No, I don't think it is. I did buy my dress. I had to go in this like tiny changing room. It didn't actually feel that hot. I nearly lost it. Like, genuinely, I thought I was going to expire. Well, I did expire. But I bought my dress. I think it's really pretty. The boys, the whole car debacle, I think they exchanged the car for one that actually locks. Did I even say it didn't lock? That's why we had to get a new one. And they found a park and they're coming to meet us here. Oh, my God. It's hot. It's so cool. But it's so hot. Guys, we got some fruit. And this nectarine is actually the best thing I've ever eaten. It's so yummy. I love nectarine. Hello, friends. We have come to a cafe to have a moment. Huh? Smile. The boys are back. Really? What did she say? Where did you park your car? We parked in the city. I want to swim. I'm so desperate to solve this. All right. We have driven down the coast a bit. Am I in the frame, Tim? Yep. And now we're going to go for a swim. Our first swim. Oh, wait. I see sunscreen on my camera. No, Mother. No. No one knows where your hat is. It's so very, very hot. And we're driving past one of the most beautiful beaches ever. This place is called Ducey, I think. We are staying in Omish. Excuse my pronunciation. Omish is one town over, I think. Yes. I'm going to need a much needed swim. And I wanted to use my GoPro, but I don't know where it is. I think it's deep in the suitcases. So, no underwater footage today. Sorry, fam. But I'm desperate for a swim. Hello, everyone. We've just had a swim. And now we've gone to the supermarket. Whoa. It's very dark. Whoa. We want to buy some ingredients and some Aperol, so we can have drinks at our house. Because we're about to get to our second house. But look at this. Oh, my gosh. Whoa. Yeah, this is a proper supermarket, I think. I am just obsessed with nectarines. They are my favorite ever. And where is the Aperol at? I see the Aperol. We have soda water. We need Prosecco as well. Okay. We actually couldn't find Aperol, which is absolutely tragic. But we're going to... No, but there was no Prosecco in this whole store. So, we've got a few things. But we're going to have to find our Aperol elsewhere. Because this gal, she needs one. I'm so thirsty for an Aperol. I can't lie. Also Coke. There's a Coke there. Friendis. Share a Coke with Friendis. Okay. Excuse what I look like. It's pretty hideous. But we've just made it to our new accommodation. And it's actually... Look at this. Look at that view. It is so stunning. Wow. And then look down there. Can you see? If I zoom. Look at that water down there. So pretty. And we have a little balcony here. We can sit, eat some snacks, have some drinks. This is so pretty. Good morning, everyone. And welcome to day 2 of the Croatian road trip, I think. Smile, guys. It is actually bright and early this morning. I think it's around 8 o'clock. Because we have left... It's quite loud. And very dark. What the... Wow. Let me explain what we're doing later. But right now we're at the supermarket. Because we want to buy some breakfast stuff. Wow. This is a big supermarket. Let me show you. Oh my gosh, it's Milka. Milka? Yeah. Oh, yum. Okay, wait, no. We're in a real rush, though. I will explain why in a second. We want to buy our Aperol Spritz finally. Tim, it's 10 euros here. It was way cheaper in Italy. Are you sure that's Aperol? It's Spritz and more. We're buying off-brand Aperol because it's cheaper. What about this one? That one's only 4 euros. Oh, bro. No, it's only 11% alcohol. No, wait, that's what... The bakery is always my favourite section. Oh my gosh, what is this? Coloured bread rolls? Oh my gosh. Donuts. Wow. This Airwaves chewing gum was discontinued in New Zealand. And it's my favourite thing ever. And they have so many here. Yes. I love Airwaves. Here's our haul. Kind of random stuff. This was our off-brand Aperol. I bet you it's not even going to taste like Aperol. Alright, we're finished at the supermarket. We're in a real rush. We're trying to catch a ferry. And we don't really know what time they come. Or, like, apparently there's really, really long lines. Because today we're moving to Hvar Island. And, obviously, you have to ferry there. So, yeah, we've packed up and left... Where were we? Memice. And now we're on the way to Hvar. We have just made it to the port. And there's the ferry right there. And there's, like, no line. This is so easy. Ferry is leaving in 20 minutes. It's half... Wait, 20? Yeah, 20 minutes because it leaves at 9. Here's our little car. Say hi. But, yeah, this is so, like, chill. We thought it was going to be, like, hour-long lines. We're not even going to get a coffee. But I think we should get a coffee if we have 20 minutes. Do we have to get straight on? Do we have time for a coffee? It's at 9. So all the stressing was for nothing. Katie has this thing. She goes on Reddit. And she reads all these bad scenarios. I lined up for 5 hours. Okay, we're on the car ferry. Made it in all good. Oh, God. It's so pretty. Dad, do you have anything to say to my vlog? Hello. You're the biggest... No, the least vlog person. What? Can you not do that, please? But we're walking up to the top so we can have a pretty view. What are you excited for today, Dad? Swimming. I want to get a gelato today because I haven't had one yet. Like, I don't want one in Italy anymore. But the gelato will still be good. Dad, go stand there. I want to take the photo. Dad's scared of heights. Look how pretty it is. Dad, please go stand there. I want the family photo. Come on. You can do it. You can do it, Dad. Be brave. Look at him. Dad, you're in front of everyone. Go back. Wow. Look at this. We have just made it to Stary Grad on Hvar. Our ferry got in like an hour away from the town. So we had to do this really long drive that was so scary because the roads are literally this thin. And it was like on the cliff side. So I literally like... We were all dying. We thought... We were either like smashing the cars on one side or falling off the cliff on the other side. So it was not the best. But we've made it to Stary Grad. And it is beautiful. We are staying in Stary Grad. And then the other like main town area is Hvar town. Stary Grad is meant to be like a bit less insanely touristy. So a bit quieter, which is nice. But these boats are so cool. It's so hot. And we are on the lookout for coffee. Because none of us have had coffee and it's like 11. So we definitely need it. Oh, I want to buy some souvenirs. Look at this. Wow. This is so cool. Look at all these little like... What are these things? Like cabanas. No. I have no idea what they're called. But they're like right here on the river. No, maybe that's the ocean. Wait. I sound so stupid right now. But these are so pretty. Guys, I found my gelato that I've been talking about all day. I'm coming back here today. There's probably so many gelato places. There's like all these cafes and restaurants like lining the strip. This is actually so stunning. Like on the lookout, all the boats are crazy as well. So expensive. They don't froth it well. And it has that weird flavor. Oh, it is black underneath. Oh, my gosh. They make coffee differently. They don't froth the milk well. They don't make it like creamy. Oh, my gosh. Wow. Is it strong? Thank you. So strong. Oh, my gosh. You're the same color. That's so pretty. These shops are actually the cutest thing I've ever seen. And they're all lavender and olive oil. Because they make so much lavender and olive oil on this island. Guys, I actually can't. This is stunning. I'm actually freaking out. How is this real? This is like my favorite place we've been so far. Just all along the waterfront. There's like cafes and bars and ice cream shops. I've had so many ice cream samples. And I feel bad because I'm not getting it now. But I keep saying like, oh, I'll come back, I'll come back. And they just give me samples. But it's so yum. Oh, my gosh. No, this is actually stunning. I want to come back here and do like a full explore. But right now we're just going to go to our accommodation to like check in. And there may be a beach. And then I want to come back here and do a full like explore walkthrough. Look at all the cute little shops. I'm so excited. Just made it to our accommodation. No, mom, that's not the entrance. We're staying at some random. Apparently, it's just like a room of someone's house. But it was cheap. So that's great. Smile, mom. I loved it. Did you book this one? Look at these pretty flowers. It's so stunning. Yeah, this is the entrance. So we don't really know what's happening. Oh, hello. Do you want to give us a house tour? Me? Sure. So we've got the bedroom. Okay, well, you can give us a house tour. Here is one room. And then I think there's another one upstairs with another two beds. It's a little small, but it's cute. I'm so hot. Look how sweaty I am. I need hot water. Then I want to go back to the town and literally spend all afternoon and all evening there. Drinking wine and Aperol Spritz and looking at the shops and eating yummy food. There are so many cool restaurants there. GoPro takeover. We're going to the beach. Guys, fun fact about this GoPro. I think I've had it for probably like close to 10 years. No, not 10 years. Actually, wait, I'm 18. It probably is 10 years. But we always joke that like it's literally on its deathbed and it freezes. And I'm so surprised that it still charges. So touch wood, she's still living. So enjoy the GoPro footage. Let's hope it hangs around for a while. But I love this GoPro with my whole life. But yeah, we're going to the beach and I'm so hot. How much is it? 60 euros. Oh, 60. That's not bad. We then went home, had some food, showered, and got pretty. And now us girls have come down to browse the shops, like I said earlier, that we wanted to do. The boys, they don't love doing this. They're going to another beach. But we're here to browse the shops, get a drink, and then later the boys are coming to meet us for dinner. But I want to buy a cap, a cool Croatian cap. What is? I can't pay $40 for a hat. Don't run across it. I'll take a picture. Good morning, everybody. Welcome back to another day here in beautiful Croatia. Hello. It's a bit later. It's like 9.30 right now. Because we had a bit of a slower morning. Organized our belongings. Had some breakfast at home. And now we're heading back into Starigrad village to get a coffee. Because I found a really nice coffee shop that looks like it. It has amazing coffee. My coffee yesterday was actually undrinkable. It was so bad. So I need a redemption one today. Yeah, we're going to go into Starigrad for a quick coffee. Because we're literally staying like two minute walk from it. Like our place isn't the nicest. But the location is amazing. So it's perfect. And then for the rest of the day, we're just going to like hop around the island. Going to lots of beaches. Today is like a beachy, swimmy day. Hopping around, swimming, looking at all the different beaches. And then tonight, we're going out. Well, I don't know. We'll see what we end up doing. But I want to go into main Hvar town. We're not staying in like the main touristy bit. There's like a main Hvar old town. And apparently, there's like all these beach clubs. And like all the young tourists like go out clubbing. So I thought that would be so fun to see. I think the whole family needs to pull up. So that's the plan for today. But right now, we need to get coffee. It is so hot already. Like I would say it's over 30 degrees. And it's 9 o'clock. So it's going to be a hot day. Let's go get some coffee. This is the gelato shop we came to last night. It was amazing. Super yummy. Girl, what the heck? It was. It was delicious. I'm not joking. It was delicious. I picked that place out of this whole strip. I just picked the wrong flavour. Oh yeah, you got a rank flavour. No, but I was like, no, that one's going to be the best. It's a good mix between traditional and, oh, it was amazing. Delicious. So pretty, but so very hot. We found the coffee shop. But the one that I thought it was doesn't exist anymore. I think it's closed down and turned into this. So coffee's not as fabulous as I was hoping. But it's still nice. Well, mine's delicious. Katie got a creamy one. It's just like a shot. But the view is stunning as per. Cheers. All right, we are now officially on the road to the beach. We're going to a few different beaches. Um, yeah. Anyone else have anything to say? No, I didn't have my goggles. You should have bought your goggles. Because the water is so clear. Like yesterday. Hopefully. Yeah, I want to borrow the goggles. If the GoPro footage works, I haven't tried to import it yet. You will see how clear it is. We're all talking about the tricky driving. Because dad is a bit scared. Because it's manual, wrong side of the road, and mini narrow road. But yeah, I'll see you at the beach now. Oh wow. We have finally made it to a beach. That was actually the most stressful experience of my entire life. These roads. It is actually insane. You should see they're this wide. And then it's a cliff on the side. And like you can't find a park. And there's like cars coming both ways. But we finally made it. We are in now a town called Milne. We gave up on the other beach. Because literally we were about to topple off the side of the hill. But now, we're not really like by a beach. Because finding a park was so hard. But look how pretty this is. I think we're going to have to walk down somehow to get there. But it's gorgeous. Look at the water. Wow. The cutest little place. And all along here, there's like these little restaurants that just out. And you can sit looking over the water. So pretty. Hi YouTube. Smile. We just had such a nice swim. And now we're walking along. Apparently, it's like another beach. Hove over. We have found these most gorgeous bougie cabana things. That we assume you have to pay for. Because you always have to pay for them around here. And these are like way bougier than the ones that you pay for on the beach. But no one seems to be here. And we're just sitting for a moment. Yeah, we think. We thought when we sat down, someone would come running. But no one's come running. So we're just enjoying a free moment on the cabana. Sitting on a cushion instead of a rock. Because there is kind of nowhere to sit on these beaches unless you pay. And we obviously are not going to pay for a place to lie. Also, I cannot ever lie in full sun. Like it genuinely is the worst feeling in the whole world to me. I have to be in the shade. So we're enjoying this moment of free shade. Before we get kicked off. I'm going to put that on my story and everyone will think I've got a cabana. Everyone will think we paid for these bougie things. We most certainly have not. But yeah, this is so pretty. This is just one bay over from where we were swimming. We have come to this gorgeous beach bar. Right on the water. Honestly, we just came because we need somewhere to sit in the shade. So we're going to try it. My hair I think looks crazy. We were going to buy like the cheapest thing on the menu. Like a singular espresso shot. And sit here in the shade with this beautiful view. I'm going to get a glass of rose. It's stunning. You're going to get a rose? Oh my gosh. Oh. We got some chips and some drinks. And we're going to sit here and relax. And read I think. This is the life. This is such a pretty view. Gorgeous. Hello everyone. We are now in the center of Hvar. Well, not the center quite yet. We're a bit lost. But we had the most beautiful swims at that place. We swam again like off the rocks. Not off the beach. And now we're going to explore Hvar town. And get some food for lunch. I want like a Greek souvlaki thing. I'm craving it. You're in Croatian, not Greek. I know. But I think they'll sell similar stuff here. But yeah. This is Hvar. Main town. It's so cool. There's like walls around it. Like an old-fashioned castle. Old-fashioned castle? What am I on about? It is an old-fashioned castle. Like the whole town. There's like walls around it. Wow. Alright. I actually bought myself a chicken kebab. Because I'm starving and there was not many options. Everything is so expensive here. But yeah. I've got a chicken kebab. Now we're trying to find somewhere in the shade to sit. Kebab picnic. It's not the best kebab I've had. And it was 12 euros. But I'm hungry. Yeah. It's curry life. We've just found this little thing. So I might jump off and have a swim. I'm so hot already. Here's what I look like. Oh my gosh. I think there's salt on like everything as well. Like the water here is so salty. My fingers. There's like granules of salt. But we just had a swim in this little bay area here. And oh no. My lip balms are falling out of my bag. Now we don't really know what we're going to do. Because the hula hula beach bar we wanted to go to is in Hvar. But it's still like really early. So like nothing would be going yet. And we don't want to hang around here for like 5 hours. So we might head back to our little village Starygrad. I lowkey way prefer where we are in Starygrad. It's just like everything is way cheaper. Way less touristy. Okay. Oh my gosh. I just think it's way cuter. Like nicer shops. I love it there. But we might get a quick ice cream before we go home. And then go back to Starygrad. I want to try like one of the cool ice creams from the supermarket. See what their locals are. See if it beats a New Zealand trumpet. Oh I love a trumpet. I could do with a trumpet right now. We've come to get ice cream. Is that like a trumpet? What is it? It's got little nips in the middle. Oh but it's vanilla. Take it. It's cocoa vanilla. I do not like vanilla. I want chocolate. Hmm. I have decided on this one. I have no idea what it is. Also. I'm scared. I have a feeling it's going to be vanilla. But it looks chocolatey. But I don't know. I'm scared guys. I'm having choice paralysis. And I think I'm changing. I'm going to get this one. It's like a trumpet. And I feel like I need to try it. I'm the most indecisive person in the world. I should not be funny. But I think I'm going to go for this one. I was just eating hazelnuts on it. Guys it's vanilla ice cream. After all that. Look at this packaging. And tell me it doesn't look like it should be vanilla. I'm actually distraught. But I'll still eat it guys. Wait guys. It's actually really yum. It's chocolate and vanilla. And it's covered. Yeah mine is the best. It's covered in thick Nutella. Guys. We don't look like. I feel super luxurious right now. We're looking. We're tweaking out. Tweaking out? This is my night time routine. I'm too busy. So many people sleeping. I'm sleeping on a paper towel. She's sleeping on a paper towel. I'm sleeping on a paper towel. Explain why. Because it's thick and weird. This place is not our fave. Tell them why. She has eczema. Guys. It's my skin condition. It's actually not funny at all. We'll just laugh about it. Let's not get her to cry. That was not funny at all. It's actually not funny at all. But this whole. Ooh. That bug's pressed my nose. We are just like. We're ready to leave this accommodation. It's not even a bad place. It's a bit rough. There's also something making it so allergic. Like my eyes. It's not a great place. Oh. Okay. It's better. We'll see you in the morning. And we are leaving tomorrow. So. I'll see you then. Hello everybody. I haven't actually spoken to you all day. It is. I don't know what day of the week it is. I've completely lost track. But we've actually just moved to our new accommodation. This morning we packed up and we drove. We went on the ferry back to the mainland. Drove through. Stopped for some food. And a swim. And this new accommodation. Look what I'm looking at. Wow. It's a bit of an upgrade from the last one. The last one was a bit manky compared to this. But this is stunning. And it has a pool. It's so pretty. I'll have to show you downstairs. I'm going to end this vlog here. And start a whole new one. Because it's getting quite long. But I'll quickly show you the pool area. And then we'll say goodbye. This is the gorgeous view. It's actually insane. I cannot wait to plant myself in those chairs. And drink Aperol Spritz. Oh. This is also like 20 minutes out of Dubrovnik main city. Which is like the big touristy area. Again. If you notice a pattern. We're trying to stay like outside of the main. Why can I not speak? I'm too hot. That's why. We try to stay outside of the main touristy areas. Because it's cheaper and also nicer. So this is just like some random family's spare room. They've turned it into like an Airbnb. But it's stunning. So we want to relax. We have a kitchen. We'll cook some food. We have three days here. But. I will see you in the next video.
