Bernadette Szocs vs Sofia Polcanova _ WS R32 _ #WTTFrankfurt 2025

Because sometimes they're onto your game. But it's just like anyone else. Still, all the subtle adjustments, we can't even count. Yeah, and in this context, they're not going to be telling their buddy what they're going to be serving, right? That's a big trick. Good lean right here. Still a ways to go, five points down. The most confident player I've ever known. You can build on that, but she's got every right to be confident in her own ability. Talk about adaptable. Behind the table, Bernie Such covered the elbow for what? Three shots in a row. And then finally a slowed down ball. Oh, beautifully done by Bernadette there. That's what I think of when I picture Sofia Polkanova at her best. That commanding physicality, those long levers. She's getting into the groove now. Long strokes, great to watch. She's got a big break there. But it goes wide, and it's anyone's game right now. But it's a big one, this, in the context of the match. Remember, we're playing best of five. And there's a celebration. And she's leveled things up here, Sofia Polkanova. Not without it. Struggles that game, but could be huge for her mentally in the way that she had to fight so hard. Sometimes it's harder to play against someone who knows you so well. Two all. Two, three. There's more wingspan, bigger crossover. Three all. The drama. Sorry, Mitsubishi. Turn the other way. I can't look at you right now. Came down, just on the other side. Bernie had her share. Three, four. The timing is everything. We saw one in the very first point for Kanak Jha last night. That was bizarre. That's the best they've delivered thus far in terms of entertainment for this audience. And you could barely find two shots the same in this rally. It was constant change of pace. Another one. She's in. Takes it, saves it, and takes it. Wingspan goes 360 degrees if you're a contortionist. But at least in front of your body and side to side. And here it's way out in front. Look at the reach. Calm. That was feet, not just arm. Tough to deal with. Looks a bit frustrated too at the moment. Five, nine. That's a good way to come back. She's got a long way still to go yet to salvage this game. After almost going down 0-2. Eleven, five. It'll come down to context. But as it is, it's Volkanova who now has come from behind to go 2-1 up in this one. Will they stay in character come the end of this one? Love, one. What a way to start. And remember for Bernadette Search who's serving, it's a must not lose game this one. One, all. We'll have to ask her later. I think we should wait till the towel break just so we don't interrupt. It's tended to be what's yielded the greater number of points for Search. Five, four. And then they get into an absolute banger of a rally there with the result going the way of Volkanova. Six, nine. Don't get that back though. Drooled at her by... Eleven, six. And there she is standing and delivering. And delivering the points that have seen her coast across the line in the fourth. We're going to go to a fifth. We're going to go to a decider. Different here. Potentially anyway. One, love. Well this fifth is going to be fun if they carry on like this. The combinations that Sofia brought out. Slow drive. Drive. That will be a factor you feel in this decider. Unless they're two really good actors. And they can't just stay in character. I'm just waiting for these emotions to boil over a little bit here. Two, five. Hey, we've served up something pretty special here tonight. Five, three. And the good news is it looks as if they're just going for it. No holds barred in this fifth and this final game. Nine, three. Saying you shall not pass. Ten, three. Eleven, three. And she only needed one of them. They were serving up a classic. But in the end. Oh that's nice. The little hug. She has emerged triumphant yet again. Against her doubles partner. You can't fake it. That shake of the arm. That clenched fist. The feeling. The satisfaction of knowing that you've shut down. Somebody who's been in wonderful form. 2022 European Champions in women's doubles. And across from each other here.
