Join me and my family today as we go on a camping and hiking trip to a beautiful
glacier lake in Canada. There might be some grizzly bears. Don't worry, we have packed our
bear spray. So grab your backpack, your bottle of water, some snacks, a tent, your hiking boots,
and let's do it. You're also going to need a good warm winter jacket and sleeping bag.
It's cold in Canada.
We're starting our camping trip. Yay. Is everybody excited? Yeah.
Yeah. Camping is fun. Camping is fun. Sometimes parents watch my videos and they say to me,
I am teaching English to my baby or to my little kids at home, but I don't know the
most natural phrases to use when I talk to them. And so one day I sat down and I made a bunch of
PDFs of natural phrases that you can use in all of the different rooms of your house.
And this is available for you for free to download. You can get that from the link down below.
A grouse. Hi buddy. Oh, there's a bunch of them. It's a little family of grouses.
Oh, another one there. You can't see? Oh, on this side. Yeah. I'll show you the video. Okay.
All right. Here we are. Ready to hike. What are you doing? I'm making a drawing. Oh,
you made a drawing. This is a person. That's a person. Wow. That's great. Is that me?
Now we're making me. This is tiny me. Hmm. And because I'm tiny.
That is so long like this. That means I need to put his legs here.
Okay. Are you ready? Yep. He's just doing a family portrait.
This is you.
Oh, nice job, Dory.
Yay.
Don't pick any mushrooms. Is that what it says? Oh yeah. Mushroom picking prohibited. Okay.
What is it? It's a caterpillar. Caterpillar. I want it to be in the terrarium.
I think we have to leave him out here where he lives, buddy. We can look at him though.
We can hold him for a little while. Can I hold him?
Thank you. Oh, he's cute. Cute little caterpillar. Mama, look how he walks.
Please look how he walks. He folds his whole body. And then except his face and his back.
He needs to come in my hand. He's so cute. Okay. Bye caterpillar. Good job, buddy.
And then he's going to become a butterfly someday.
That's right. First he makes a cocoon and sleeps in the cocoon.
Sleep in the cocoon. It's wake up time. That means they wake up. And then they break it.
And then they're a butterfly. Yeah, then they squeeze out of the cocoon and they're
a butterfly. They become a butterfly.
We're walking in the forest. It's beautiful. And we're almost at our snack spot.
Yeah. If we see mushrooms, we leave them alone, right?
That was a really pretty mushroom. We're just going to leave it, leave it alone.
Yeah. We can't pick any mushrooms. Not the pretty ones. None of them. Right?
Wow. Look at the sun. It's so beautiful.
Okay. Let's go catch up. Go catch up with Zaza. He's so fast.
I'm stopping a lot.
We've done this hike the last two years and it's so much easier now that Dory is a four-year-old.
It used to be a lot more work when he was two years old.
We did it. Good job, everybody. Especially Dory.
This hike used to be so much harder with you, Dory. We used to have to carry you
most of the way. Yeah, you were crying a little bit. Now you're doing a great job.
You're such a big boy. You can hike it all by yourself. You have such strong legs now
and lots of energy. You eat your vegetables? Yeah? Good job.
Oh, you guys giving the trees a hug. That's nice. Which other tree needs a hug?
This one right here? That's nice.
There's a tree growing out of that rock.
Yeah, good job. Do you want to protect it? Be careful, there's a big rock there.
Okay, we made it. Yay. Now we just have to go pick our spots.
You can see the lake. Camping spot there. I'm going to keep going and find another one.
All right, Dory, help us find the perfect camping spot.
Are these guys for eating? No, I don't think those are for eating.
Those are not good berries to eat. Yeah, no, they're not.
I'm going to have to ask Dad to feed to be sure, but I don't think so.
Papa? Yep, there's the food storage for hiding the food from the bears.
They're trying to reach it and they can't do it. They can't reach it, that's right.
Yeah, we put the food in a bag and then we put it up in the trees, right? High up in the trees.
So high up. Yep.
It's a nice spot. It's a good spot. We're trying to pick the perfect camping spot.
Next. Oh, we don't like this spot?
I like it. I said it's not flat enough. Okay, let's go look at the next spot.
This one? Okay, let's go to this one. A little shade, it's much flatter, it's got little tables.
Scaring away the bears with your toy. So we'll get set up here and we can go
check out the other one if we want, but I like it. It's really large. It's beautiful.
Okay, here we are at our perfect campsite and now we're going to have some marshmallows.
Yep, and candy.
Marshmallow on stick. We don't have a fire though because there's a fire ban. Okay, what do you think?
It's good?
Phil working hard over here as usual. Would you like a marshmallow on a stick? No, thank you.
Is it fun? It's so fun. Careful, don't fall out.
Okay, tell me what you found. Sea snails. Sea snails, wow. They're going in the sea.
You went deep buddy, good job. I just wanted to do my tricks there, not make all that.
Hey look, I'm so tall, look.
Okay, it's getting a little bit dark. The sun's gone down over the mountain.
We just ate dinner. Ate dinner, had some snacks. You have your Christmas pajamas on and it looks
like Dada is relaxing. Okay, bye bye son. See you later. See you tomorrow. Later. Here we are in our
cool tent. You can see everything. Yeah, this is the view from our tent. We're gonna go back home
after we sleep. Yeah, after we sleep we're gonna go back home.
Scream so the bugs can't get in. Okay, we're gonna play some card games.
This one's called Old Bone, Paw Patrol card game. I'm having all of these. You can have a deal
a bit more. I can have some more? Okay, thank you. I think we should deal them out though, right?
Let's deal them out first. We'll shuffle them. I think it's in the tuckabore. I'll deal them out.
I deal out the whole deck, I think. I think that's how this works. Yeah, I already know,
deal them all. Deal them all? Okay. What's Dada doing right now? He's outside. He's taking the
food to the food cache so the bears don't eat it. He has to put our our food up high high in a tree.
He did it. Saved our food. Hopefully it will still be there tomorrow.
We have to brush our teeth. Hey, no we don't need to brush our teeth.
We ate a lot of candy. We definitely need to brush our teeth.
The most beautiful campsite in the world. Okay, hopefully no bears will eat us tonight.
We've got our bear spray close by.
Clothes drying on the tree. Yeah, Dory has decided that he's allergic to bears
so if he starts coughing we know there's a bear close by. Right, buddy?
Okay, good. Waking up. It was a cold cold night.
Dory was not bothered by the cold at all. Here's the tree that I slept next to.
Hi, Mr. Tree. We took all that precaution to put the food high up in the tree
and then this morning I realized I left a granola bar in my bag in the tent.
Good thing a bear didn't come eat us. Bears don't eat persons. You're right,
bears don't eat people. No animals eat people. No, no animals eat people.
We're going to see if our food is still there. The bag is still there.
Yeah, you see it up there?
Yeah, how's it look? It's fine. Yay!
The bears didn't eat our food. Or the mice. Okay. Or the snakes.
Yeah, rocks, rocks, rocks. I want to sing something. Okay, sing something.
I love that song. We've got the full science course going on here. Super cool.
I helped him get out. Oh, that's nice, bud. Helped him get out of his shell. I helped him.
There's a blue jay in the tree stealing our food. Get back our food, okay food jay? Uh-oh.
Blue jay stole some of our food. Maybe it's time to put the food away.
It's maybe time to put the food away. Do you want to come help? Yeah, all of us go. Okay.
Look at him, he's beautiful. Maybe it's time to go back home. Maybe. Okay, let's go. All right.
Can you see the blue jay there? Nope, I can't see. It's squawking at us.
Stellar's jay, not a blue jay.
Phil's putting away the food. So here's our little friend right here.
Our little blue friend. Sorry bird, no more food. He's so pretty, so blue. Oh yeah, that is
a really cool thing. Can I see it again close up without the magnifying glass? Oh, it's kind of
beautiful. Some kind of fish eggs. Did you find that in the lake? No, I found it just here.
Where's the power ranger? Oh, there it is. So it was a successful camping trip.
Now we have to hike out. We need to hike back to the car.
Okay, we're all packed. Tent is all packed. Bags are all packed. Boys are relaxing.
Bye. Okay, bye. Everybody drink enough water.
