Hello and welcome to my channel. At the end of the video I'm going to tell you about my
upcoming plans because I'm in London not Sweden and I'm also going to reveal my new 2022 calendar.
It's the summer and I'm in Sweden so expect baby squirrels, moose and gorgeous Scandinavia.
My day as usual begins with coffee, toast and preparing a fire for a shower.
Baby boy. Come here. What's new? Come on. How are you? Today I am restarting my camera truck project
at the truck. Hello and we already have a squirrel. Amazing. This vintage truck has been left on the
edge of the forest since the 1960s. The truck was used to distribute timber cut locally in
Sweden to countries across Europe and I've been setting up a camera to photograph the squirrels
with the truck. I have a flash inside the truck and it is overcast today which is perfect.
Oh my god that was so freaky. Can you see that? Watching me.
Oh that's so funny.
Hi. Are you ready to start camera trapping? There is a full vlog about how I set up my camera
and it is already on YouTube. I asked my patrons recently what they were interested in seeing
and someone requested like a daily video vlog and that's what I'm doing.
So welcome to my day. I have actually been awake for a long time. It is two o'clock now
and I have had a few squirrels in the garden. We've got Dada Elf and Simba. Baby Pear was around
at 10am but he was just passing through. He's been exploring a new area of forest and
he's been going there every day. I don't really know what he's up to.
I have set up my cam trap at the truck and it's really cool to restart that project and
I am actually vlogging and making a video about that so I've already been talking to a camera.
But it is time for lunch. I've had some frozen food cooking because that's all I eat.
After a quick lunch it was time to prepare the squirrel food. I use peanuts and sunflower seeds
at the camera trap and this amount usually lasts a few days. I'm also chopping pear because I'm
hoping to see the baby squirrels. I have had my lunch. I've cleaned up and I'm going to go
and check my camera trap, put some new seed and take a card in case it needs changing so let's do
it. The weather has been gorgeous recently and the wildflowers are blooming too. When I entered
the forest a certain baby squirrel started to follow me. Baby pear is doing well but unfortunately
I haven't seen Chiburashka for several days so I really hope I can see him soon. I later went for a
walk around the lake and sat on the dock. This is the only place I can comfortably sit without
mosquitoes bothering me. Connie and I then joined a professional ornithologist to check on an eagle
nest. The chick is several weeks old but already massive. Eagles have altricial young which need a
lot of attention and care from the parents. The adult female then appeared and began alarm calling.
Connie then started speaking to her and she recognized him and flew away from us. Connie
has known this female almost all her life and she stopped alarm calling when she realized it was
Connie. Connie and I then went for a drive to find some moose. We were really lucky to find a female
moose with two twin calves. Most of the moose were quite nervous and I didn't get more footage
but here are my photos. In the morning I heard some commotion on the roof. This is baby pear's
new way of telling me he's here and he's hungry. I scattered some peanuts and got some photos of
him in the flowers. I have updated my print shop with some photos featured in this vlog.
I spent almost all of that day at my laptop editing photos for Connie's new website.
I then had a late lunch. I literally can't remember or work out what I'm eating.
What are you doing there? What are you doing? Why are you on the roof? If you can see in the corner
that's Dada Elf. Have you been at the camera trap? I hope so. He is so pretty.
You are so pretty mate. You are so handsome. Look at you. I went to the forest and was immediately
greeted by Dada Elf. I love his colorations. He is definitely one of the most handsome squirrels
in the forest. I waited a bit longer to see if any other squirrels would appear and finally baby
pear and Chiburashka. It has been five days since I last saw Chiburashka. Connie and I went out at
2am to film the sunrise with the drone. This is the darkest it gets at the moment in Sweden.
We've been learning how to use the drone after I crashed the first one. Sorry Connie. This footage
really made me miss Sweden and the forest and I am so so excited to get back out to Sweden
in September. Something really exciting is happening so watch out for the future videos.
It must go on coordinates. Yeah but why is it beeping? Can you still see black?
You have to be ready to read here. You're wearing glasses.
Yeah but English if it comes something I'm not ready for. Okay. Maybe I have to take it
when it comes on. It's going to go on the car. Yeah but we have to rely on the sensors I guess.
Yeah. Are you controlling at all? No. It's a bit off. No just let it land.
Not quite. I hope you enjoyed that episode of Diaries of a Wildlife Photographer.
That was filmed last July and I'm currently in London. I was supposed to be in Sweden
about three weeks ago but I'm in London due to the travel restrictions entering
Sweden. There's a squirrel. Part of my plan for being in Sweden at the moment was to start
something very exciting. Definitely a big life change. That has all been moved to September so
my plans are still happening. They're actually happening now so when I go to Sweden in September
everything will be there and I was going to say ready but it won't be ready but I will bring you
on the journey of making it ready. I hope that doesn't give away what I'm doing. My Patreons
know so if you want to join my amazing community on Patreon you can actually find out what I'm doing
but I don't want to share it publicly until everything is confirmed and in writing. But when
I do go back to Sweden in September you can expect more Diaries of a Wildlife Photographer
and I'm going to really focus on my videos. So expect more visually cinematic videos,
more in-depth storytelling and I mean it's Sweden it's going to be gorgeous anyway. And squirrels.
But the other exciting thing I want to share and tell you about is my calendar which is covered in
bark. What do you think? Come here. Do you like it? Yeah I don't want you to lick me thank you.
This Sean is my new 2022 red squirrel calendar and I'm really pleased with it actually.
This calendar features 12 images of squirrels but each month is a different squirrel so there
are actually 12 squirrels in this calendar. So January is Ghost, there's a description,
a little profile picture, name and you can just enjoy a year of squirrels. What more could you
want? And at the end I have a little section about how to find, how to identify and how to
photograph squirrels. So yeah. And each calendar will be signed by me on the back here although
I haven't signed this one because this is my first copy. But the calendar is available to pre-order
on my website and I'll actually be shipping them very soon because I need to ship them all before
I go to Sweden. So if you want to grab a calendar for the next year then you need to do so soon.
That's why I'm doing it so early it's not because I'm a nutter it's because I'm going to Sweden so
yeah okay. They've seen something so I don't want them to run run off. But thank you so much
for the continued support. I can't believe over the last few months I've managed to gain
20,000 subscribers or I think it's 24 now and the Squirrels and Me almost has a million
views which is crazy. I can't believe this is my day job now. So thank you so much for the
continued support and make sure you hit the notifications bell on YouTube because I will
be uploading new videos. Parakeet please. Go on then you can go and bark. I have got new videos
coming up. I'm going to do one about urban squirrels, urban foxes and owls in London and
another one from Mexico. But thank you again and remember okay thanks.
