Jewish Man Found Jesus in the Old Testament and Believes! | Dave's Testimony

Tell me a little bit about the moment Jesus came into your life and changed everything. It was actually October 2023, around the 16th, so about a week after the attacks happened over in Israel. And I was sitting in my bed in New Jersey. And a couple days prior to that, I had gone for the first time to a Messianic congregation. Why? Well, I was looking for truth. Why not go to the synagogue? You're Jewish, no? That's true. Well, I had been doing a lot of research and I've been very curious about Jesus, but I hadn't really had a face-to-face conversation with a Jewish person that believed in Jesus. I've met many Gentiles, but I was really interested in this question is, could this plausibly be the Jewish Messiah? Not just could he be the Messiah or the God of the Gentiles, but is he Jewish or how Jewish is he? Nice. He's very Jewish. It turns out. Okay, so you're doing time in the Messianic congregation and then where do you go from there? I heard the preaching on Isaiah 53 and that the pieces kind of clicked for me. At that moment, I realized that, okay, if he can be found in the Jewish Bible, the Tanakh, the Old Testament, then all of these things that I believed about Jesus not being for us was not true. So a couple days later on my bed, back to New Jersey in my bed, I say this prayer, God, Jesus, I believe in you and I want to be cleansed. I want to be forgiven for my, I want a second chance. And I confess my sins, literally just in my mind, just told him everything I could remember that I'd ever done wrong. And I went to sleep, woke up the next morning for work and I didn't need a cup of coffee. I felt great, inexplicably. I felt this sense of peace that I didn't have. I was suffering with so much anxiety and depression, so much fear about things going on in my life that I finally had relief from that and I couldn't explain it any other way than the prayer that I said to God in Jesus name. Praise God. And that's amazing that that happened to you. But I also want to be an encouragement to people who are not feeling that. I put my faith in Jesus and I'm still depressed and I'm still feeling anxious and that doesn't change the truth of the fact that he is the Messiah. It's just our feelings towards it. And I'm so happy that that happened to you. But if you're not feeling it, don't get discouraged. Don't feel like this is or isn't the truth. For some people it happens right away and for others it can take some time. So just keep that in note. Let's continue with the story. But even to encourage on that point it was instant peace, but it didn't last all that long. It only lasted about a day. And then I was back to thinking about all my old problems and the anxiety started to come back and it was really a process of learning how to trust God. There you go. And I'm still working on it. I'm not there yet. Yeah, me too. That's great, man. I love that. Yeah, a lot of people think that it's a magical thing that happens. Once I believe in Jesus, I get a million bucks. I get free from all anxiety, depression, and I'm no longer the sad man. I'm the happiest man in the room. But guys, it's not like that. Being a believer in Jesus, it takes a cost even, right? So I'm happy that truth is truth no matter your circumstances and what are you willing to give for that truth? You know what I mean? What are you willing to give up? If it's true, are you willing to give up things of this world? Yeah, I'm fortunate because I was in a position where I didn't have all that much to lose. A little bit of backlash from my people immediately surrounding me, but pretty minor compared to what a lot of people go through. For me, it was really the excitement of what does God have for me? And that's something that I've been walking in and learning about and finding purpose in my life in ways that I couldn't have ever imagined over the past couple years. Praise God. So take me back. What was life before this moment? I had a lot of things going on in my life, a lot of things that I was involved in. I was an adrenaline junkie, partying, and I was doing that quite a lot in my 20s. And then towards the end, I started consulting a psychic and that's when things got from… The card reader, right? What is a psychic? Yeah, okay. Wow. Medium. So I thought I was speaking to my deceased grandfather through this psychic. And as I was applying the life advice I was receiving in these sessions, just do whatever you want, whatever your fantasy is, go live it out. Turns out that really blew up a lot of areas of my life really quickly. So I was in this situation where I was completely terrified for my life. I… Like King Saul in 1 Samuel 28. He goes and sees the psychic and he gets bad news and he's laying down flat on his belly. He's not eating. He's full of fear. I actually had a very similar experience. I was terrified for my life. So I was getting into some really bad things and I… The result of it was me being essentially scared to death. So now I was in a journey to see if God can help me out. So I spent that whole summer researching God and eventually Jesus and learning that he might be the only true way to God. Oh, praise God. I'm so happy you found that to be the truth. I'm encouraged, you know, seeing this man who's messing with the demons, you know. And the demons even believe in Jesus, you know. They say that he's real. Yeah. And I had some really incredible experiences with evil spirits kind of at that time through the psychic. And… But that was ironically my way to come from being agnostic to believing in God. Because I figured, well, if evil spirits are real, the spiritual realm must be real. Heaven and hell might be real. And if all that's real, God might be real. So that's how I went from… Praise God. Yeah. I love how God can use anything. Yeah. Even looking into demons to show his glory. Praise God. So what are you doing today with your faith? So now I talk to people about Jesus. I like to share my story. I like to go through the Bible with people. Just people I know, people I meet on the street. I work for Juice for Jesus now. So doing evangelism. This is your livelihood.
